Myself and 2 others rented a property from Chester Place back in January 2011. It was on a 6 month basis which we then continued month by month until February 2012. When the date of us leaving the property was due to arrive, Mark from Chester Place came round to view the property to make sure everything was in check and in a good condition. He told us everything was fine and there were no issues. However when his partner viewed the property (after we had left) she told us that there was work that needed to be done. Without consulting us to the work that needed to be done, they and the landlord went a head and completed all this work. At an extravegant cost, nearly £200 for a gardener!!!!!! Which we later discovered was a close friend of the landlord who had done a few odd jobs around the house for us in the past......so not actually a gardener.
After 4 weeks of disputing the issue they ended up taking over £400 of our deposit off us when we were originally informed by the agent that the property was in a good condition. The whole experience has lost all my faith in letting a property and I will never ever rent again. This comapny should not be trusted as they seem to just want to fleece customers and make a tidy little profit for themselves.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Be more trustworthy and truthful with your tennants. They went back on their word and succombed to the pressure of the landlord when they knew the property was fine.
