I really wish I had the option to put negative stars because this agency was appalling. On the surface, Olympia seems well-organised and even thoughtful. However, once I lived in one of their flats, I had the worst experience of my life. Initially when I moved in, the agency claimed that 2 cleaners had cleaned the apartment prior to us moving in, however that was a bold-face lie because every surface was either sticky or greasy. The bathroom also lacked a shower curtain and not every bulb was replaced so the first night I lived there, I had to shower in the dark with water splashing everywhere. Not to mention, one of the hobs didn't work and the oven was broken for some time. There was even a strange, forgotten potato growing massive stems underneath the kitchen sink! They even paired us, two young professional women, with some questionable men that they called "quiet students," who ended up being disrespectful of our belongings and who filled the flat with the smell of weed. (I doubt they do any kind of background check on their tenants, but rather seek to fill out flats as soon as possible and take advantage of young people because they think young adults won't mind as much about cleanliness or know what kind of rights they have when renting properties.)
There are ample more examples of how unprofessional Olympia Properties was, but the one that put me over the edge was when we had bed bugs. I've never had to deal with bed bugs in the past, so I didn't know how to spot signs of them when I moved into the flat. I started getting bitten a month and a half into living in the flat and realised that they came from my bed, which the agency provided. I quickly found the bed bugs and black spots on my box spring and requested that I get a new boxspring and mattress immediately. However, the agency did not deal with my request right away and I had to wait 2 days until they sent an "exterminator." I say "exterminator" because I doubt his credentials. By the time he came over, I had researched multiple ways to thoroughly get rid of bed bugs (many of which included steam cleaning and evacuating the premises) and all he did was spray our box springs and mattresses with some kind of pesticide. He then told me that we had to continue to sleep on our beds in order to lure the bed bugs out of their hiding places and once they were out and exposed to the pesticide, they would die. I was worried about my own exposure to his chemical spray and how it would affect my health as well, but listened to his advice nonetheless. Needless to say, we continued getting bitten by the bed bugs for weeks. I also looked up the "exterminator's" company, "Pests-R-Us". On the front page of their website, the company seems legit. However, once you go past the front page, everything else on their website is filled with text-filler gibberish and stock photos, showing you that their company is not real or at least that the company did not take the time to complete their website. So dodgy!
Whilst all of this was happening, you can imagine I was constantly texting and calling Olympia's agents, specifically Samira, who was the agent that was primarily in charge of the property. She, however, was avoiding my calls and taking a very long time to text me back. When I eventually moved out, after 3 months in the property, she didn't show up on the day I returned my keys and received my deposit back, despite texting me that she would be there. She was acting completely unprofessional and, by hiding, has shamefully acknowledged how horrible she and the agency has treated me and my roommate. We received our full deposit back, without any kind of inspection, which indicates to me they know they were in the wrong and hoped to appease us by giving our full deposits back.
*Olympia needs to stop taking advantage of young tenants and answer for their horrible customer service and shoddy properties. This kind of treatment towards tenants is not okay. I don't wish my experience on anyone else.
