Lack of information viewing with hidden fees. Empathy is completely unknown to them and you can expect to ping incorrectly completed documentation back to them and query various different fee quotations.

They strive to achieve defensive excuses to drive their customer service apposed to compromises, empathy and usefulness.

I have never felt so negatively about a company as I do Martin & Co. If you would like further information then please feel free to contact me(If messaging is permitted etc).

This review is regarding the Martin&Co, Truro and the Trainee dealt with was called Leanne.

Edit: Please also expect cold calling from external companies claiming to be Martin&Co services.

Dear 'JDog'. Firstly I would like to apologise if you in any way felt that fees were not made clear to you or that you feel that you did not get accurate information from the staff here. I am not 100% sure which property you moved in to however it is standard practice to email to and confirm all the fees involved and what you would need to pay and when as soon as the let has been agreed, we also provide a copy of our 'tenants terms of business' which you would have signed and returned to us confirming that you understand what you need to pay and when. Again I am not 100% sure which property you moved into however if it is the property I believe, this email was sent to you on the 06/06 the same day you applied for the property. The deposit was increased because of the pet (standard practice) and you queried it. On your behalf we negotiated a reduced deposit with the landlord to help you with the moving costs, something that I thought would be beneficial to you and would show our willingness as an agent to work with our tenants. This was all confirmed in writing to you by email the same day so I am therefore a little unsure as to why you feel so aggrieved. The 'cold calls' that you mention are from the utility companies trying to help you setup the new accounts for electricity etc. Sorry that you don't feel these were helpful, most of the tenants find it a very useful service and is 'one less job' for them to do. I have passed on your comments to Leanne here in the office who has dealt with 100's of tenancies in her time here and I have not had a bad comment from a tenant about her until now. If you feelings are that you did not get the service you wanted, for that I am sorry and while we strive to get things right all of the time, if you feel we haven't reached your expectations please do accept our apologies. We hope the rest of your tenancy runs smoothly.

I am so sorry to read this review and not sure how to react. Hi Kathryn I am sorry to read your review and have checked our system and spoken to the person in the office you dealt with. You sent us an email at 11.49am on the 7th of January and we didn’t ignore you and emailed you back at 12.13pm on the same day sending you the referencing criteria our referencing company uses. Dear Madga. Thanks for taking the time to write all of this. Sorry I do have to disagree with 99% and feel that perhaps your obvious anger is due to the fact that you are losing all of your deposit, most of which I have to add is due to you not paying rent and the deposit is being held to cover your arrears. Dear Deb, Sorry to hear that you are unhappy. I have responded to your email to me today to try and explain that your tenancy (and deposit) was managed by your landlord. I will chase the landlord about your deposit return but sadly we don't had your deposit and you will need to discuss this with them. Your signed tenancy agreement does state that the property is managed by your landlord not us but if this wasn't made clear to you, I can only apologise. Dear 'CD123' I am disappointed to read your comments on this site as I feel we have always tried to help our tenants as best we can. All of my staff will be spoken to if you feel that at any time someone was rude to you, you haven't put your name or details of the tenancy so I cant be specific however generally speaking I believe that all the staff do their best to be helpful and understanding. Dear Steve H Many thanks for your honest response. I do know the property you are referring to. I'm disappointed to read your comments. Very quickly I would like to say that your deposit was £2353 and was correctly registered with the DPS. They paid you back what you paid so there was no mistake from our part.
