An agent in london was helping me get a property through eafield and maple Accrington. The owner and manager of eafield and maple will say one thing and do another. He will promise repairs as soon as you move in and nothing will get done. He will arrange a price for a property then change his mind saying he never said this. He will arrange to get workmen who don't show.
I had a very badly disrepaired property that needed a lot of work, but all was masked with paint so one would not know on inspection.
Slug infestation all over the kitchen and dining room floors and cupboards and extreme mould and rising damp which was newly painted over so I did not notice until several weeks of moving in. When the paint dried you could then smell very strong cat urine all over carpets.
I had to involve the council and even then works did not commence until I withheld rent and was leaving. The agent I had who had worked with eafield and maple to get me the property would pay rent if I left early as I could not reside there as it was so bad and affecting my health more due to severe mould and damp. I left the property and now eafield have left me with a county court judgement for an inhabitable property even though I said I would not pay that month because no works were done and I could not live there. I had asked the main man, owner to release me from the contract as he could. He was difficult and said I should not have taken the property had I not liked it. How was I to know the place had rising damp throughout the entire house, the slugs all throughout the ground living areas and the mouse infestation. The place was newly painted hiding everything but the mouse holes which were increasing rapidly throughout property.
It is so bad that even though I left eight months ago the property is still on the market for rent, or not able to rent due to council stepping in.
Avoid this company as they are difficult and unfair.
A county court judgement for a property he himself would not have spent a day in, never mind one night. The council have photos as well as myself. I am so glad I kept them. Maybe I should have gone on a documentary of below substandard living worse than a third world country.
