We were delighted that SY sold our house however, we had to question at times whether the staff were acting on our behalf or the purchaser. The day of our move was made extremely stressful by the agent ringing several times to demand the keys, even though we hadn't completed the purchase on the property we were buying and we had previously advised of a 2pm key drop-off.
Comment on agent fees
They are not the cheapest but the quality of the brochure is better and they did achieve a sale which other local agents had not.

DO NOT RENT A PROPERTY WITH THIS COMPANY!
This estate agent revolves around selling high value properties. If you are looking to rent then do not rent with these guys! They were very unprofessional throughout. Everything takes a lot longer than it should (if you even get a reply from an e-mail to the estate agent) and they also charge £30 just for giving a reference to the next landlord. Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). This estate agent revolves around selling high value properties. If you are looking to rent then do not rent with these guys! They were very unprofessional throughout. Everything takes a lot longer than it should (if you even get a reply from an e-mail to the estate agent) and they also charge £30 just for giving a reference to the next landlord. However, the major problem is as follows:
When we were moving out of the property, we had a standard inspection. I was in the property during the inspection and we were told that the property was in great condition and there were no issues so I left and moved away. I then received an invoice for £120 for a light clean of the property. I questioned the light clean and was told that it is the landlord's decision as to how much money he wants to take (which defeats the whole idea of a deposit by the way). I had an issue with this so I spoke to the estate agent at Sanderson Young who told me that he agreed it was unfair but there is nothing he can do. The money should not have been taken from the deposit in the first place and it definitely did not need a clean of £120 considering it was a 2 bedroom flat that had already been cleaned thoroughly. They must have been the most expensive cleaning company in Newcastle.
Overall, this company is used to making a huge amount of money from selling high value houses. They will attempt to make as much money as they can from their rentals as well with little regard for the renter.
P.S. This is the first complaint I have ever had to make in my life. I do not normally complain but the service was dreadful!!!
