Having contacted this agency on three separate occasions with less than favourable results on two of those three occasions - advertisements posted on the Gumtree website were suddenly immediately unavailable on calling the agency or emailing them with requests for viewings - and having queried a re-post to the Gumtree website of an advertisement for a property which i was certain had been leased already, i was told that the agent's operative had 'set the listing to re-post automatically'.
I am not certain how this was achieved, as i cannot find any way to automate a posting to the Gumtree website for any section or subsection at all.
Having managed to arrange a viewing for a Saturday mid-morning, for a property listed in Mornington Crescent, I was aware that this company manages a set of properties in this complex for which they consistently list vacancies.
Fearing i would be late for the viewing, i hurried down to victor stone's Camden office for the morning meeting.
Arriving on the premises, i was met with a confused response from some individual who assured me that the agent meant to be showing the agreed property to me was out on a viewing already.
Next, as i had expected (but hoped would not be the case), the property was confirmed by this same individual as taken - that is, no longer available.
Victor Stone's representative quickly made the point that this property had been leased by 'someone else', as if excusing the agency for its now questionable tactics by simply blaming a third party.
Finally, i was informed that the agency representative, with whom my appointment had been made, would be back 'in ten or fifteen minutes, hopefully', and that i could wait for him, should i choose to do so.
Needless to say, i was incredibly relieved to have been fortunate enough in securing a property through another Kentish Town agency later that day.
I should like at this point to pre-empt any attempt at rebuttal by this particular estate agency (by which i mean victor stone) as, having been a resident within central london for over ten years, i have dealt with many, many property specialists who claim to offer services related to lease management.
Often in the process of trying to secure an apartment, i have found myself less than impressed by the 'could care less' attitude of the people employed by the owners of these agencies. On this occasion - even as a resident of London for over ten years - i was dismayed by the shoddy, uninterested and on one occasion rude attitude of the persons responsible for dealing with prospective clients of victor stone's business endeavour.
Having a fairly thick skin after all these years in the capital, i should most likely be able to simply shrug such occurrences off with practised ease.
But, when it comes to finding a home for myself, i am afraid that i tend to lose a little faith in humanity each time i am obliged to deal with individuals who do not seem at all interested in either securing business for their own employers (and thus making some progress towards paying their own salaries), or, in simply making some effort to help the prospective customers they claim to be advertising to.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Everything is listed within the review above?
The presales service was of the same cowboy standard as many other agencies within london, but also particularly frustrating. Pointless trying to reason or communicate with bodies such as this. Employee directives to ensure the company comes first over prospective tenants are quite clearly the order of the day within this collective.
