I would advise against renting via contempo, throughout our tenancy we had a number of issues arise and Contempo would rarely resolve them sufficiently. A few months after moving in we began receiving emails stating that our rent was overdue, even though we could see that it was in fact paid, therefore we became increasingly concerned as Contempo were expecting us to pay it again. Even when they realised it was their error they didn't inform us, we had to continually call before they admitted it was their error - no apology received. Additionally we had an issue with the pipes and couldn't do any washing or dishes, this took contempo over a fortnight to fix which was utterly unacceptable and the workers that we spoke to were in no way apologetic.
The real issue with us however came when it was time for us to move out. We specifically requested to be informed when the property was advertised which Judith agreed wasn't a problem, yet she failed to inform us. Out of all the viewings that took place there was only one that we were given more than 24 hours notice on. There was actually one instance when a couple viewing the property showed up the day before we were due to move out and we had not been informed, Grant had not arrived as the viewers were early. This is the only instance we knew of, there could have been many more viewings that took place without our knowledge as every other day myself and my flatmate would have been at work.
Additionally, Contempo tried to charge us an extortionate fee for the cleaning of the property (very similar to another review here). We were willing to pay for necessary cleaning of the property but they expected us to pay for the cleaning of carpets that didn't exist, and also the cleaning of items that were deemed clean in the inventory. We tried to negotiate with Grant on the cleaning but he point blank refused to come to any sort of agreement so we rejected their proposal on Safe deposit Scotland and ended up getting our money back. Grant also tried to claim that we were breaking our tenancy agreement by not maintaining the garden, the garden was a communal space that any member of the public could enter, it was also maintained by the council - not the residents.
To any prospective tenants I strongly advise against simply accepting what they expect you to pay from your deposit, Grant tried to persuade me not to go through the adjudication process as it was a timely matter, however it resulted in us getting our money back! Also, find out terms and timelines that the agency need to stick to if there was to be a technical fault during the tenancy.
In my personal experience I have found Contempo to be unreliable, unhelpful and extremely unprofessional.

Myself and my flatmate made our issues extremely clear (living without water for over a fortnight is not something we would keep quiet about). Grant was our first point of contact hence why all of our issues went through him. Additionally, you failed to inform us when the property was advertised - which was a (small) request that we made specifically to you and despite saying that you would do this - you did not, so unfortunately I am doubtful that it would have made much of difference with our more pressing issues if we were to contact yourself.
Kind regards,
Erin
