My wife went around a number of estate agents initially to get a feel for each branch and narrowed down all the local estate agents down to only two who came across as professional and efficient in her initial dealings, of which Oliver Ling was one.
Both estate agents came around to value the property and gave similar estimations of sale price to market the house on, and the cost involved.
Martin, (Oliver in Oliver Ling) gave a higher market valuation and the value he expected to achieve and was more accurate than the other agent about issues with stamp duty and it's influence on our sale, being open and honest about the whole affair whilst being friendly, courteous and professional during our initial meeting and, indeed, every subsequent conversation we had together.
The other esate agent seemed more interested in just banging out the sale in a very quick manner and I now believe would have undervalued our property to achieve this, as well as being off by a factor of 10 when calculating stamp duty!
Choice of estate agent made, our house went on the market and several viewings arranged within the first week (Martin wasn't joking when he said he had a list of people who would want to view it)
Our house sold extremely quickly and, if I'm being honest, my wife and I would have accepted a lower offer initially but advised by Martin, whom negotiated with the seller on our behalf, he achieved our asking price, effectively paying our estate agent fees with a fair bit more extra left over and a substantial amount more than we would have been prepared to sell at.
Following the sale Martin also gave me a bit of advice on how much to offer on our new property and how to go about negotiating with our subsequent purchase, above and beyond what he was required to do, resulting in my impression that I got a good deal with our purchase as well.
Subsequently as the sale proceeded Carole played a more prominent role, keeping me informed of the whole process and answering any queries and dealing with the usual issues that crop up with house buying and selling.
As was the case with Martin, Carole was friendly, accessible, professional and above all efficient and we're very thankful for all the effort she put in to ensure that we exchanged and completed in a timely manner, not once during any of the phone calls we exchanged, was I made to feel like I was bothering her or creating unnecessary fuss and Carole always gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble.
In summary, now we have completed the whole process I have not a single issue with Oliver Ling and their wonderful service and this should be evident in my review, as I am not the type of person whom normally leaves reviews but in this case I feel compelled to acknowledge such good customer service which is often so lacking in todays world.
In fact the only disappointment with regards to the whole sale is that I'm not sure Oliver Ling quite cover the area we're moving to, otherwise I would have no hesitation in using them again and will certainly urge my parents to use them when they come to sell their house in the next few years.
