Avoid this company. They do not tell the truth and are totally incompetent.
THEY ARE TRULY THE ESTATE AGENTS FROM HELL
If one was to make a programme entitled Cowboy Estate Agents Connells Oxley Park would be the best of the worst as that is what they have provided me. I feel totally ripped off.
Appointing Connell's Oxley Park, Milton Keynes to sell my house has to rank as one of the top five worst decisions of my life.
To describe the experience as a disaster (from start to finish) would be an understatement. I wish I had visited this site to be warned as to the calibre of the people I would be dealing with.
I thought of using Connell's as I am moving abroad and noted that they stated they had an overseas property section.
I phoned the number I obtained from the internet, to be told that there was nobody available to take my call but to give my number and address to the person who answered my call and someone would call me back in ten minutes. After an hour and a half I phoned again to be told that I had to telephone another branch, as my address was not covered by that particular branch.
I arranged for a valuation visit and was asked questions that I thought were not appropriate such as have you had other valuations and what did they yield? And what do you think your property is worth?
The valuation received from Connell's was significantly higher than others I received and the charges (after negotiations) were lower than other agents, at 1.4% of final price. I made a point of questioning this high valuation but was told by the individual that they were 100% confident of achieving this price and that even if I'd been quoted lower costs, this individual would achieve a higher price for my house. I was mistakenly impressed by their degree of both attentiveness and what I perceived as professionalism. I mistakenly instructed them.
They stated they would facilitate an open day in a Saturday with a minimum of 5 potential buyers, which would generate significant interest in my property.
They proceeded to plonk a for sale sign in mud in my front garden, despite there being 7 trees to secure it to and a solid fence. It fell down within hours, I told them the sign had fallen down on two occasions but they did nothing about it.
The promised open day consisted of a primary school teacher (moonlighting at the week end) turning up with the first potential purchasers (I have the utmost respect for school teachers, but not to sell my house) She had not seen my property previously and was viewing it for the first time whilst showing it to potential buyers. I asked her how many people were attending this open day she stated I think two maybe three. I regard this as pathetic.
I lost complete faith in Connell's and insisted that all communication be carried out via email as they would insist that they had done things which they had not. The majority of subsequent emails received from them were ineligible due to the author not being able to string a sentence together without spelling mistakes and grammatical illegibility.
It would take up to 10 days to receive feedback from viewings, yet they would say on the phone that they had provided feedback.
They then tried to change my contract stating that they would charge a fixed fee, after threatening to pull out they proceeded to honor the original agreement.
I conducted 70% of the viewings as they were too busy. Probably arranging who would bring the cakes into the office the next day.
A significant number of potential viewers did not turn up. One who rearranged told me that the manager had neglected to provide the door number to her.
Having dealt with Connells oxley park has convinced me to never use a raditional estate agent ever again and to use on line services.
If you value your property, sanity and want a honest, decent professional service avoid these individuals.
