I truly find Sawyer and co extremely helpful, positive and they really go out of their way to help you by being flexible and give a real human approach to their service. In comparison with other letting agencies I have dealt with, I am so relieved to know that Saywer and co are our agents as it really helps to know that any problems or questions will be dealt with positively and efficiently. My partner and I are young and also in a same sex relationship- when we have dealt with other agents we have felt that we have been judged and subsequently treated as though we were not to be trusted or that we would be 'problem tenants'. In actual fact we spend our time at home doing things like knitting, reading, cleaning, studying and drawing and are in bed asleep by about 9:30pm... Real ravers! We were admittedly nervous about even setting foot in the doorway of the Hove branch as our initial impression was of high standards and for 'higher class' clients... Of course we were wrong and were greeted warmly, invited to sit down and discuss our requirements straight away!
Renting property can be a stressful experience which is unfortunate because many people rely on renting in order to call somewhere home. With the stress of every day life, everyone should be able to look forward to going home at the end of a busy day and for it to be a place to feel safe, comfortable and be able to relax. From my experience of Sawyer and co so far, they genuinely seem to care about their tenants and have a real human work ethic. Many other agencies care more for their landlords and money than anything else but Sawyer and co seem to be dry different. I appreciate their service so much and would not hesitate to recommend them to other people.

Client Money Protection - Sawyer & Co are part of a client money protection scheme. Our Client Money Protection (CMP) Scheme is a compensation scheme run by the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFoPP) which provides compensation to landlords, tenants and other clients should an agent misappropriate their rent, deposit or other client funds.

Independent Redress Provided by The Property Ombudsman - Sawyer & Co are part of The Property Ombudsman Scheme (TPOS). This scheme has been providing consumers and property agents with an alternative dispute resolution service since 1990.

The Ombudsman’s resolutions are designed to achieve a full and final settlement of the dispute and all claims made by either party. The Ombudsman can, where appropriate, make compensatory awards in individual cases up to a maximum of £25,000 for actual and quantifiable loss and/or for aggravation, distress and/or inconvenience caused by the actions of an agent.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). Complaints Procedure

Sawyer & Co - Formal Complaints Procedure

As a Sawyer & Co customer you expect a first class service from us and we aim to provide it. We have high standards, but if you believe we have made a mistake, please get in touch with us as soon as possible and we will do everything we can to put it right.

We are also subject to the rules of The Property Ombudsman. In general terms this gives Clients who are unable to resolve a complaint against us the right to have this reviewed by an independent body, the Ombudsman.

We hope that our complaints procedure will resolve any complaint without the need for you to contact The Property Ombudsman. Please note that the Ombudsman will not investigate your complaint before you have completed our complaints procedure and received a letter or email from us giving our final response.

This document shows the steps in our complaints procedure. At every stage we promise to listen, to do everything we can to resolve your problem and to make sure you're happy with the way we do it.

Our Complaints Procedure

If you have a problem relating to the service you have received, please discuss this at the earliest opportunity with one of our members of staff. Our aim is to deal with your problem sympathetically, fairly and quickly.

If you feel that the matter is not being resolved to your satisfaction, please ask to speak to the Manager of the department dealing with your enquiry. The Manager will try to resolve the matter on the day you raise your complaint, although whether this is possible will depend on the complexity of the complaint.

If the response by one of our Managers does not resolve the matter to your satisfaction, you can ask the Manager to refer the complaint to one of the Directors. It is better if you can do this in writing to:

A letter of acknowledgement will be sent to you within 3 working days. It will also:

Set out our understanding of your complaint and state when we will be able to reply in greater detail.

You may also be asked for additional information if this is required to assist resolving the matter.

Your letter should state why you are still dissatisfied and what further action you wish Sawyer & Co to take to fully resolve your complaint. The Director will fully investigate your complaint as quickly as possible.

In all but exceptional cases, by the end of eight weeks following receipt of your complaint, Sawyer & Co will have given you its final response in writing.

If you are still not satisfied with the steps taken by Sawyer & Co, you can write to:

The Property Ombudsman Ltd, Milford House, 43-55 Milford Street, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP1 2BP (Telephone: (01722) 333306 or e-mail: admin@tpos.co.uk).

The Property Ombudsman will consider your complaint, taking into account any points made by you and Sawyer & Co. The Ombudsman may, however, refuse to investigate a complaint when your issue refers to something that happened more than 12 months before you complained in writing to the Member Agency, or you referred your complaint to the Ombudsman more than six months after you received the Member Agency's final offer of settlement or answer.

The Ombudsman's Office may try to settle the dispute by agreement between you and Sawyer & Co. If this is unsuccessful, the Ombudsman will consider all the relevant factors and make a decision according to what he believes to be fair in all the circumstances.

The Ombudsman will send his decision to you and Sawyer & Co. You can accept or reject his decision. If you reject the Ombudsman's decision, it will lapse and you are free to do as you wish.
