Our experience with the Walthamstow branch of Spencer's was a very mixed bag. They were very professional and friendly in terms of their initial service.

Once we had decided to take up a property rental with them suddenly everything seemed very rushed in order to get our money as quickly as possible, at times it was confusing as we were dealing with 3 difference people at once and the process was not always explained clearly.
We were told that they like to do everything by the book, that they would not allow us to move into a flat that was not safe or in a fit state, we were assured that they check the property before any tenant moves in.
When we moved into the flat it was clear that no one had checked the property at all. I do not want to list all the problems we were faced with but to say the bath was full of rubble and there was a bin full of bathroom waste that had been left, along with a faulty dishwasher that resulted in plug sockets being covered in water.
Since moving in we have been backwards and forwards with the property management company to get a list of problems sorted (they have been helpful and the repairs are on going).

We were left very disappointed with our experience and it has caused us a lot of extra stress. I feel the agent need to see an honest review so hopefully they can use the feedback to improve experiences of future tenants.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Fees are very high (over ‚£700 in total). Not sure if these are really justified.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and I'm very sorry for the difficulties you encountered.

The safety of tenants is paramount and we insist that the required tests are undertaken before any tenant takes occupation. Occasionally, if remedial work is necessary, delays can occur which, although for your safety, can still be very frustrating when one needs to juggle work and moving arrangements. Ideally we would like these tests carried out before marketing but landlords are often reluctant to do this.

Your landlord has now authorised us to deal with the snagging list you provided which we are expediting.

I have asked our Area Manager, Adrian Sinclair to oversee this matter personally and I believe he has already spoken to you.
