We live overseas and when looking for a property to buy only visited London occasionally. On each occasion, Adam was very patient showing me several potential properties over a period of 18 months, and even previous to that when he was with a different company. Being unfamiliar with the process of buying a property in the UK we relied on Adam's advice in all matters. This was good and made the process quite simple for us, including things like suggesting a solicitor to use. Adam kept in touch regularly and kept us well informed on progress.
The process took a long time although this was mainly due to the vendor's solicitor. This did not bother us much since we were buying to let the property and were not waiting to move in.
Due to the delays, another member of Madison Brooks staff became involved on behalf of the vendor, who he referred to as 'his client' inferring that we were not also his client, and we found his input very negative. He pushed our solicitor, without copying us, by threatening more than once that the whole sale would fall through if our solicitor did not move faster. This added stress to the process for us. We felt this unfair given that the main delays came from the vendor.
However, apart from the input from this additional staff member, we found Madison Brook very good and we are now using them as our management agents with Adam as our main contact.
Comment on agent fees
Not applicable for buyer. Management fees are high, but reduced as bit as we bought though Madison Brook.
