PLEASE NOTE THAT ACRES FOUR OAKS HAVE 2 ENTRIES ON THIS WEBSITE - ONE FOR LETTINGS AND ONE FOR ESTATE AGENCY. THE ESTATE AGENCY ONE HAS MORE REVIEWS ON IT.
Acres Lettings are the most appalling and unprofessional company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with in my life. I was a tenant of theirs and the number of unresponded to emails and phone calls is beyond belief. The manager of Lettings (Julie) is incredibly patronising and impolite. We had various issues with them, and ended up deciding to end our tenancy early because of it. We were left financially burdened and had to make a claim to mydeposits to recover our deposit (which they ruled in our favour). We have also written to the property ombudsman about the code of conduct on the Estate Agency side (as we purchased a property they were selling - run by the office next door). We wrote to Nigel Deekes who is one of the Partners there, but he was not interested and did not even bother to reply.
We have also informed the landlord of the property that we rented, that they do not act in the their interest. The inventory we were given when we moved in, we were told was from 2 years ago and hadn't been updated (this was whispered in our ear by the agent carrying out the viewing). They also were happy for an upstairs water leak to carry on over a bank holiday weekend because the call-out fee was higher on a weekend than in the week - but obviously not as much as the damage it could have caused if it had have been left! We were conscientious and decided to resolve it ourselves as we didn't feel it should be the Landlord's problem given that they had no say in it.
On another occasion, Acres (eventually) called out an electric gates company to repair the electric gate. The quote was £600 which seemed crazy to me for what I felt was an easy fix. I asked if they were going to get any other quotes but they said no. The company came to repair the gate and I watched them closely (in the interest of the landlord), and the problem was just a lose wire - which resulted in a £40 call-out charge and nothing more. Surely they should have obtained at least one more quote.
Please take note of the review here and on other websites and just use a different agent. If you do have issues with them as a tenant, please be sure to record any phone calls that you have with them. Unfortunately I was too late in realising this although I did record the last few I had.
