Absolutely horrified with how we've been treating by Harringtons at the moment.

The place we looked at was fantastic¢â‚¬Â¦however the service they provided was awful.

First of all the asked for £150 per person (4) despite it being a 3 bedroom place ¢â‚¬â€œ this was an agency fee/holding deposit ¢â‚¬â€œ fair enough¢â‚¬Â¦I don't mind paying £600 to take it off the market.

However¢â‚¬Â¦most times¢â‚¬Â¦this deposit is taken off of your first rent/deposit ¢â‚¬â€œ however this is not ¢â‚¬â€œ it's just their £600 charge.

Once all this had been agreed and signed for they adviced us we'd need garenteurs, fair enough, we did this.

To which they later sent these the guarenteur forms¢â‚¬Â¦

HOWEVER¢â‚¬Â¦ They guarenteur forms then specified they would need to be filled out with proof of land ownership and passport information within ONE WEEK of them SIGNING ¢â‚¬Â¦ not even a week of receiving the thing.

If this wasn't delivered within the date¢â‚¬Â¦then you;d lose YOUR WHOLE holding fee¢â‚¬Â¦ NO EXTENTIONS can be made to this date¢â‚¬Â¦therefore Harringtons are ROBBING crooks.

Ontop of this¢â‚¬Â¦THEY ¢â‚¬Ëœlost' one of our forms¢â‚¬Â¦pretty confienent seeing as we HAND POSTED it through the door ¢â‚¬Â¦ they accept no liability for this and in turn¢â‚¬Â¦are trying to keep our £600.

They are interested in one thing¢â‚¬Â¦MONEY¢â‚¬Â¦if you have it¢â‚¬Â¦THEY WILL BLEED YOU DRY!¢â‚¬Â¦

What agent could do to change your mind?

Thank you for your comments. We are very sorry that you have had a bead experience with Harringtons Lettings. In regards to our fees, it is correct that we charge a one-off fee of £150 per adult to take property of the market which then turns into our administration fee. This is a standard practise in this business where all other letting may also agents charge administration fees on top. There are no other charges involved, such as referencing fee or anything else. We always make sure that this is explained to tenants before they decide to put down a holding fee.
It is also correct that we ask for the guarantor forms to be returned within one week. Considering that vast majority of our tenants manages to return these on time without any problems shows that this is not an unreasonable time. To obtain a proof of land ownership can be done online and takes less than 10 minutes as well as photocopying a passport. These deadlines are in place in order to protect landlords against extensive void periods of rent.

Regarding to the comment that we have ‘lost’ your guarantor forms and then lied about it, it is very unlikely that this would have happened as it is our priority to pursue with the let in order to make our landlords as well as tenants happy.
