Before I moved in I was promised certain problems would be addressed. These weren't and took place once I had moved in which made it very awkward once furniture was in the property and resulted in myself taking a day off work to facilitate workmen. The property consisted of 4 storage heaters, which the infantry stated 'all in working order'. After moving in the property to find out how to use these Quirks advised me to look them up on the Internet to see how to use them. Only 1 heater out of the 4 created some sort of heat at 3am and within 2 hours the heat had disbursed and nothing was stored due to the flaps to store the heat had melted and did not move. Quirks called an electrician out to the property roughly 3/4 times . First occasion the flaps on the working heater was fixed the other times the electrician advised the heaters were no good and needed changing. The property had no heating and was creating damp and mould due to this. When i called Quirks for them to resolve having no heating I was informed if they were to call the electrician to the property anymore times they would charge me for the call outs. I lived in the property for a full year with no heating at all and never any help from Quirks. Quirks do not return your calls ever are never helpful and are quick to point the blame towards the tenant! The icing on the cake was when a very heavy wooden Venetian blind in the living room area come away from the window after it had been moved slightly early in the day by a workman replacing the window handles , on bracket snapping with the blind crashing down on to my head cutting me and cracking the top of the tv. A phone call was made to Quirks to tell them what had happened and that the blind was dangerously hanging off the window and had infact inflicted damage to my property and pain to myself. I asked if someone could come round as soon as possible to fix the blind as it wasn't safe secure in the window and there was a privacy issue. I can honestly say I have never been spoken to so rudely in my life. I was told I was a 'harsh tenant' I think the landlord has money that grows on trees I've never been a reasonable tenant and I'll be lucky if the landlord wants to renew my tenancy. Less than a week later I emailed Quirks to ask if I could renew my tenancy as I wanted to stay for 2 years and this was why I originally agreed to the contract as I was advised that would be fine, only wanting to pay 1 lot of moving in fees, but to my shock Quirks emailed me back stating the landlord did not want to renew my tenancy. They would not advise why the landlord wouldn't renew for weeks until I received a letter stating 'it was nothing personal' the landlord might be selling. Leaving me with only a few months to find a new place and get all my furniture removal etc sorted. Quirks said they would do all they could to help me find somewhere else to live, I received not one phone call or email saying there were new properties to rent with them available, I had to ring up on 4 different occasions to book a viewing with them. David is helpful and gives you quite a lot of info on the properties he shows, Ian on the other hand knows nothing about the property and shows no interest when you ask him a question. After being told the landlord wants to possibly sell and that is the reason for wanting me to leave 'nothing personal' I received an email stating please get in touch with Quirks as they want to arrange viewings..... Arrange viewings?! What happened to selling the property that's why I have to leave?!!! This is quite obvious Quirks had a lot of input with the landlords final decision in ejecting me from the property, I was never once rude nor demanding / unreasonable. It is the landlords responsibility to provide the tenant with a property in working order and has fully working heating. I looked after the property the years tenancy I resided there anything that ever occurred was down to poor maintenance upkeep , cheap fixes or simply turning a blind eye! I would recommend any tenant choosing to use Quirks and they manage that property PLEASE THINK AGAIN. There is a reason why Quirks fees are so cheap, they are not there to help will make your tenancy miserable and if you ever ask for a problem to be resolved will point the finger at you! Only David on the lettings side and Tracey who deals with check out are professional , friendly and very helpful, which is a shame because I will never use Quirks again ever and when it comes to buying a property will not look to Quirks to deal with and I hope after reading my experience you won't either.
