GJM Property are the worst agency I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. The staff are rude, incompetent and just downright lazy.
On being shown the property, we were assured by the agent that the problems with the house would be fixed before we moved in. When we moved in to a filthy (the cleaners were only let in two hours before we were due to arrive) and dysfunctional house, we were told we should have specified these changes in the contract. This is after we had signed and they had got our money. As relatively inexperienced renters, we have learned from our mistake, however it seems GJM seem to revel in the fact that we are young professionals and wish to get as much money from us as possible without ever lifting a finger. We were without hot water for a week upon moving in and the company seemed to find it annoying when we were trying to sort this situation out, even though that in fact makes the property un-liveable in as specified in the contract.
This general theme of taking extraordinary lengths of time to sort even the simplest problem out seems to run through GJM. It takes on average about 10+ emails, 10+ calls and well over 3 weeks before even a suggestion of anything being done occurs, at which point 2 or 3 handy men will turn up in the same day, have a look at the problem, do nothing and leave.
We have had large issues with damp, mould, plumbing, heat, peeling walls, electronics and appliances breaking. Every other renter I have spoken to about renting with GJM has suffered the same problems. It would seem if you are pumping vast sums of money into their business by buying or selling a property you are treated like royalty, however renters are treated with disdain.
Their office also seems to be in disarray, you are put through (fobbed off) to a different member of staff every time you call and no one ever seems to know what is going on. Property 'manager' Laura Brown is laughably awful at her job and is rude and unpleasant to deal with.
I would not recommend the company in the slightest to anyone, they are a blight on Peckham's otherwise wonderful community. Gareth should be ashamed of himself.
