We were looking for a cheap property to buy rather quickly and were given good service and were able to look at such properties that were available promptly. Most of our requests for information were dealt with, however we were misled on the possibility of an asbestos, about which we were alerted by our solicitor. We were told that our vendor had a letter saying that there was not a problem and that the letter was going to their solicitor and would come on to ours. A day before completion it was revealed that the vendor had misunderstood the contents of the letter and the asbestos problem was unresolved. We have had to take a risk on it. When I collected the key on the handover day, I asked for the forwarding address of the vendors in case it was necessary to forward anything. I was told no problem and this would come by email. So far it has not.

Covid 19 struck the UK in March 2020, the initial damp was reported in January 2019, and it took till October 2019 to carry out any inspection. A report was passed to Helmores shortly after this in early November 2019. Sadly, the landlords wife did pass also in March 2020. So both incidents you mentioned occurred 14 months after the damp was raised & 5 months after the report.
