I made an offer on a house, the offer was accepted and as part of the offer the house was taken off the market. 3 weeks later my mortgage was all agreed and a mortgage valuer had visited the property and reported that the property was fine. I had also booked a structural survey for the property on week 4. The week before the structural survey I received a phone call from the estate agent telling me I needed to have the structural survey done this week (week 3) or I would lose the property. I told the agent that I thought they were being unreasonable as I had booked the structural survey for asap and the surveyor did not have any other appointments. The agent then told me another offer had been made on the property and I would lose it if I did not comply with her demands. The telephone conversation ended and 20 mins later I received a text from the agent to tell me the other offer been accepted. I believe other viewings took place at the property whilst we had an agreement that the house was off the market. This cost me a lot of money in fees but what made it even worse was, the house I was buying was just a few doors away from my elderly mother whom I wanted to move closer to so I could look after her. I have been told the agent has only been operating for a few months and that they have no office on the high street.
