After some communication about a potential property, and a visit by my wife and I, I was informed I would be contacted following an inspection of the property in interest by the letting agent. I waiting for a reply, whilst in the meantime making a couple of offers, both below the asking price, but with additional goodwill offered, ie pay 6 months up front, offered to maintain and decorate the property for the landlord as it was in a poor state. No reply, waited, emailed again, no reply

Found out today the property has been let to another tenant. We had no contact, no advisory, nothing, not even a response. Not sure why i expected anything less from an agency though

Sorry if our communications were not so good. Unfortunately making a low offer in a fast moving letting market may mean you lose the property. Paying rent in advance also at a low rent is not such an incentive to Landlords. The property was let at full price - apologies if we did not come back to you to say this.

Hello

Sorry to hear you were upset. The properties we have are generally let very quickly and all offers/conditions are put to the owners for their information and choice. If another tenant put forward the asking price with a quick start date then the owners will go with them. 6 months rent in advance but lower then the asking price does not sway many of our landlords especially if the offer is very low. Thats always a risk if you make a low offer - someone else may give the asking price and snap it up. Sounds like we fell short on not communicating that the property had been let - so apologies for that. Hope we can help in the future.

Sorry to hear you are unhappy "ex-tenant". I don't know which property or who you are so cant comment to put our side. All I can say is that we do act fairly but do expect the tenant to pay the rent on time and comply with their tenancy agreement. If a tenant wants to break a contract there are fees the owner incurs which are likely to be requested from the tenant which is fair when a tenant wants to break their contract.
