I had let a 1 bedroom apartment with Centrick Property - Colmore Row agency.
At first, it seemed a professional agency, although quite expensive.
After 6 months of tenancy contract, however, I must admit I am disappointed under all respects.
They proposed to me an apartment that, being quite expensive (£650 a month), should have been quiet
The overall cost for the transaction was £200, plus £66, the latter amount for unspecified services that I found difficult to understand, because, in fact, never took place.
The apartment is located in Cutlass Court, Granville Street 28, B1 2LS Birmingham, and I suggest everyone reading this review to definitely avoid no matter how cheap it can be offered on the letting market.
The apartment almost immediately proved to be very noisy throughout all the day and night, due to the hotel (¢â‚¬Å“Jurys¢â‚¬Â) nearby using a air conditioning system, and even more because of significant noises coming from the locals located nearby in Broad Street during the night (which were the main reason why I left the apartment). Both these are aspects I was not made aware of when I visited the apartment coming from a different city, both were not evident at all, being actually hidden faults of the apartment.
The tap of the water in the basin simply jumped away the 2nd time I opened it.
Jumped away...
It took them 2 weeks to fix it (...a very sophisticated plumbing issue, indeed...).
The overall quality of life in that apartment is below acceptable levels.
This is why I decided to leave that apartment in the first month of rent.
Luckily, I "only" subscribed a 6 months contract.
The most annoying thing you'll experience with Centrick Property, however, is that they will keep a good chunk of the money from your deposit, in form of "cleaning" services.
As a premise, when you enter in the apartment, you shouldn't expect any particular level of hygiene more than decent (e.g. do not expect to find the shower basin without a reasonable number of hair in the corners). However, when you leave the flat, they will charge a cost like the apartment would be sterilised...
Before leaving, I cleaned the apartment myself, together with my parents, and you can take for granted that it was in a better shape compared to when I took it.
For a 1 bedroom, 320sqft apartment, with a monthly rent of £650, they took £182.5 for cleaning services.
£182.5 for cleaning services.
This amount was never communicated to me, until they gave me notice of the reimbursement of the deposit.
They didn't detail this amount to me, not an explanation of what it was due for.
I would also highlight that cleaning tariffs were not provided to me when I negotiated the contract at the beginning of my tenancy, and if I had known them, I would have not subscribed a renting agreement with Centrick Property (which I won't do in the future anymore, in any case).
They were provided to me when I gave notice of quittance.
There is a name, for this behaviour: it's stealing.
Hope the above review can be useful to anyone looking for letting an apartment.
Comment on agent fees
Extremely high, and partially not detailed/justified.
