Whilst I was offered low commission (1%) to sell my property, the customer service was very poor. After a first sale was lost and no subsequent proactive advice/ marketing was provided, I sought to appoint a joint agent (this was following the expiry of the sole vendor period). Agent kept me to a 28 day notice and would not negotiate on this. He later ignored my requests to be supplied with the details of the people he had shown round but subsequently had the audacity to claim half of the final ...

If you are thinking of renting or buying a property managed by Peter James; CONSIDER THIS A WARNING! From the moment we started engaging with Peter James (nearly 4 months ago) everything went wrong. We found a lovely apartment with a couple of issues that we wanted to have resolved before we could move in. Peter James agreed on fixing all the problems (jobs seemed pretty easy to us - just needed replacing or fixing) the week before we moved in so we wouldn't have to worry about it as some of...

I thought i will share my horrible experience with Peter James. If You looking to be ripped off and be ignored go to Peter James.I have been dealing with a many agents and this is the first time i came across such as poor service and disrespect. They will not reply to your emails or calls and if they do you won`t be happy with the voice tone. I will never recommend the management team of this agent,But to be honest the staff at Lee high road are very helpful but unfortunately they can`t help ...

I let my property in Crystal Palace through the New Cross office as they were recommended by a friend. Gary the manager said it was no trouble even though my property was out of area for them. They accompanied every viewing and the current tenant wasn't bothered much. They found two lovely girls one is a teacher and the other a journalist. I was thrilled. As a Landlord, the references are obviously important and it was clear and detailed. Hayley in the pre-tenancy department answered all my ques...

We rented a property with Peter James for 6 years and back in 2009 the Property Manager was Michelle Burchell. The day we moved in we felt in total despair, my immediate response was to walk out, hand the keys back and say the deal was off. Even though they claimed professional cleaners had been hired to leave the place in a presentable condition, it looked completely appalling. There was dust and fluff everywhere, the bathroom was repulsive, full of limescale and mould, and random objects were ...

By far, the most unprofessional estate agent that I've come across in London. In trying to work out an amicable solution to end a tenancy early, no help was offered by Peter James whatsoever. I understand that they are working on behalf of the landlord but we were offering workable solutions where no party would lose out but you would have thought we were asking them to do something above and beyond. Consistently avoiding our queries and questions, never answering our phone calls; when we d...

What agent could do to change your mind?
If the agent would have liked to help, they could answer the phone, arrange to meet us and discuss our requirements and what would be best for the property and the tenants instead of leaving someone in completely unsatisfactory and extremely challenging living conditions.

Over the past three years or so, a number of tenants were allowed to come and go before the end of their tenancy, and they were replaced with new tenants without any formal handover or inspection. I was shocked that I was allowed to move into a rental property without being asked to sign the tenancy agreement, deposit protection certificate, or being issued with a copy of the check-in inventory report. I thought that this might go in my favour when we eventually vacated, however it appears that ...

The property was left in a terrible state by the previous tenants, whilst I respect that this is not the fault of Peter James little was done to rectify the situation. The carpets and curtains in our \'non-smoking\' house stank of smoke, the mattresses were heavily soiled, the shower head was broken, the floors looked as though they had not been cleaned and the oven was faulty. I reported all of these problems to our \'property manager\' Jack Dixon the following day and was told that he would be...

Hello there, after a 3 month slog in the current property market, Demi from Peter James showed me a house which she had just gotten the keys to. Was great property, except Demi failed to warn me that her client (the vendor) didn\'t actually own it yet. It was still subject to contract. She and Gary (branch sales manger) knew this but it wasn\'t until a few weeks after my offer was accepted that they told me. The vendor proposed to complete on his purchase and would then in turn sell to me on the...

I just wanted to thank all of the team at Peter James in Blackheath. The branch manager, Maria, gave me a realistic assessment of the rental value of my property. This was £300 more per month than I had been getting from my previous tenant. Within 24 hours of instructing Peter James one of their negotiators, Nicola, had arranged viewings of the property. Nicola was very prompt in giving me feedback on what the prospective tenants thought. Other viewings followed and I was given real...

THE most unprofessional people I have ever had to deal with. Try to take money from you left right and centre- any overpayments? Dont expect to see them again. Not even sure half of our rent was being passed on to the landlord. Do not call you back when there is a problem, do not email back when there is problem. When THEY have a problem- they are first to contact you demanding all sorts! Honestly- for your own sake and for your bank accounts sake- do not use these people....

When we were shown around the current money pit, the blonde boyish estate agent from Peter James stood in the kitchen with us and swore the house was ready to move into. This was according to the last survey that came back on the house, which he himself, he assured us, had personally read. Ok he couldn't read, but could the chap smell?, we thought. We only wondered because the smell of damp which would choke a canary, the wet walls and the dark glistening exotic indoor plants ยขรขโ€šยฌร‚...

Embarrassingly bad. I feel I have ended up with a very poor deal on the sale because the buyer has been handled so badly. They are amateurs. They forgot to put up the for-sale sign. When they did put it up, it blew down. They also left the details of the property on the site for two months after an offer was accepted and despite three requests to remove it. Then on the day that the surveyor finally turned up, they lost the keys!...
