I would not recommend this agency and I have spread the word to my friends at work and also family. They are very unprofessional and pushy - during my tenancy they have caused me so much headache and I'm just glad to have moved out. Despite having lived in the property for 5 years, I still have to go through 6 monthly inspections. Northwood were selected over all other agents because of their professionalism and positive attitude during the initial valuation. They conducted themselves in a brilliant manner. I took tenancy in October 2014. I was upfront with admin fees. The took a long time and I had to chase references. They sent out an email. I was aware of some minor faults with the residence (tenancy). It's been bad ever since. I was informed that Northwood only deal with the tenancy agreament. It's been a lot of problems. Although I am happy with the package I have taken I have had to take a reduced rental income for the property and I personally think this is due to the high fees Norwood charge It seems the fees are the same for a 1 bed flat as they are for a 4 bed house. The most disappointing thing for me is there seemed to be no compromise when I was looking to sell my property. I did admitedly sign up for three years and with just over 18 mths towards the end of my contract been considering selling. I was told I would have to pay nearly £2000 to end my contract and then when selling the property could only go through Northwood and will be charged 1.5% selling fees. Dear Caroline, Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feed back and of course are extremely disappointed to hear such comments. Unfortunately as you have signed a long term contract with Northwood there is a penalty in order to come out of the contract earlier than its end date. Like wise, we wouldn't have been able to terminate the contract early from our side with out any penalties. The staff are all very friendly and are generally quite quick at replying to queries, however they do not reliably pass information between myself and my tenants and never volunteer information without me first getting in touch with them. Overall, my experience of renting out to Northwood was not bad. On the upside, the rent was always paid on time without a problem, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. On the downside was 3 specific matters. 1) When a water leak was reported by the tenant at 10.00 in the morning, I was only notified by another resident in the building at about 17.00, which meant more water had escaped than should have donel. Have rented my property with Northwood for the last three years on guaranteed rent scheme. Have found the peace of mind of being on the guaranteed rent scheme an advantage. However I have found that communication has been an issue. Some E mails have not been acknowledged and those that have responses have taken longer than expected. Although I have no major issues I don't think I will stay with Northwood once my current contract expires....

I think the service wa in the average. First of all, I rented a furnished flat but I had to buy a bed and a dining table. I mean, furnished means furnished.. For the duration of our letting I had a positive experience with Northwood. Staff were courteous and on the occasions that I had problems they were able to help resolve issues quickly. The real problems came at the end of the letting period. Inventory would list things that were apparently in good condition but upon checking for ourselves were either broken or in a less than "good" condition. Complaints Procedure

Northwood aims to run a high calibre lettings and estate agency business. Whilst we do our best to operate in a professional way and to the highest standards, it is possible that you may be unhappy about how we have dealt with a particular situation.

We have a standard procedure for handling complaints which is as follows:

1. Making an initial complaint

Each office is independently owned and operated and has a local Director who will be, in part or in whole, an owner of the branch. In the first instance your complaint should be directed in writing to the local Director. He or she has an honest and sincere desire to resolve your complaint as soon as possible and should respond within ten working days.

2. Making a formal complaint

If for whatever reason you remain dissatisfied then please contact us. At this point we will send you a complaint form to enable you to provide full written details of your complaint and copies of any supporting evidence. The Complaints Officer appointed will investigate and provide an independent review of your complaint.

3. Receiving your complaint

We will acknowledge the receipt of your written complaint within three working days and explain our process for resolving it. Due to the independent nature of the investigation we regret that we can only respond in writing.

4. Resolving your complaint

We will then investigate your written complaint as soon as possible and write to you as soon as we have completed our investigation. This process should take 15 working days. In our letter (the final viewpoint letter) we will explain:
?The outcome of our investigation
?What we will do to put things right if we have made a mistake


5. Property Ombudsman Review

If you are still unhappy at this stage, you have the option to take your complaint to the Property Ombudsman within six months of the date of the final viewpoint letter. The Property Ombudsman will not investigate any complaint that has not followed the in-house complaints process. Further details of the Property Ombudsman are available at tpos.co.uk
