Newton are the factors for my flat. They are very slow to carry out repairs or deal with problems. They tell you they are doing something but they are not. Everything they do seems to be the easiest thing they can find, with no concern for cost, time, safety etc. I know some residents have become so frustrated with them they have been withholding payments. They take a very large float, and then undercharge on the regular payments so you end up running up a debt. They don't seem to have any proc...

I have used Newton's as my letting agents since 2005. They have been excellent and I have never had a complaint from my tenants regarding how they have been treated by them . The most valuable thing that they do is to address any problems with my property really quickly and they have a regular team of tradesmen that are always reasonably priced and do a good standard of work. I have repeatedly been sent invoices for a utility bill for a former property in Hamilton. This is despite previously been informed by Newton that no money was outstanding. Despite asking for a copy of the utility bill three times by email and by telephone, a copy of the bill has never been forthcoming. No-one in the organisation has bothered contacting me about the issue - I just keep getting sent more invoices with no proof that I owe the sum involved. Absolutely terrible customer service....

Just read the most recent reviews. Is this the same Newton Property I have been dealing with for the last 10 years? Sounds like a completely different organisation. I have had nothing but problems with them. Some staff have been extremely rude, they spend your money without consultation and consent and then have the cheek to tell you to "BUDGET"!! Who do they think they are, if I could get rid of them I would and if I could give no stars I would but unfortunately this in not an option...

Gemma has been outstanding over the years we have rented our flat in Glasgow. I would highly recommend this company and their staff. When a problem arises an email arrives not just with the problem but a solution which has usually either been put in place or is in the process of this. Been with Newton Property for over 6 months now and have no complaints. Excellent communication with regards to any visits or changes, and fast solutions when things have gone wrong .. I've even had a joiner out the same day I contacted them! Really pleased with the service, dealt with both Katie & Charlene who are friendly and great at replying to queries promptly....

Renting with Newton was my first experience of private renting and has been a very favourable one.. Every staff member I dealt with, by phone or email, were all very helpful and proactive. Newton Property Management have been a wonderful letting agents during our time with them. Gemma Hay has been especially helpful, and always handles our correspondence with a cheery professionalism and helpful attitude. Any repair issues we had were dealt with immediately, and any flat visits were carried out with ample notice. 5 months after a fault in the building caused a leak in my living room, I am still awaiting internal repairs. A second leak appeared recently in the same place only this time Newton sent out a different company, who found a different fault which they tried to claim was the responsibility of another resident. What agent could do to change your mind?
Better communication, be up front about any charges customer will encurr, have a freephone number rather than an 08 one that charges a fortune from a mobile, respond to customers when you say you will, make sure more than 1 person in the office can deal with customers rather than them phoning to find the person tgey need is on lunch etc.

We are always delighted to meet landlords for a no obligation consultation advising on all aspects of letting as well as the outlining the 3 different services we offer. These include:

Advertising only (Β£120 incl VAT)
Professional photographs will be taken of your property in order to produce a high quality advert to be added to the main letting websites such as Rightmove and Zoopla. All enquiries will be dealt with by our highly experienced team and details of any viewings will be passed to you to carry out the viewing at a suitable time. Ideal for the landlords who tend to deal with everything themselves but would perhaps prefer a more professional advert for their property to attract greater interest and the maximum possible rent.

Tenant Find Only (Fees on application)
We will manage everything in order to find the best tenants at the maximum rent achievable including full advertising, carrying out viewings and thorough reference checks on all tenants, initial rent and deposit processing, preparation of inventory and all legal paperwork as well as the transfer of utilities and council tax and any other requirements. We will also have the tenant set up a standing order so rent is paid directly to you each month as soon as we hand the property back to you to manage.

Full management (Fees on application)
This will include all of the above as well as full management of the property 365 days a year by our highly experienced team of property managers. Monthly rent will be collected and transferred to you at the earliest opportunity together with a detailed statement and there will also be regular routine condition inspections undertaken. We aim to make this entire process as easy for you as possible where you can literally provide us with keys then wait for rent to hit your account on average within 2 weeks of initially advertising the property.

Tenants
We aim to make renting a pleasurable experience and we want our tenants to thoroughly enjoy staying in their quality Newton sourced home. When you reserve a Newton home there are no agents’ fees payable. In fact we will undertake a full credit check at no expense to the prospective tenant. A partial payment of the property deposit is made on reservation, the remainder payable before the tenants take possession. We believe our professionally managed high quality rented homes attract high quality tenants.
A deposit of 6 weeks rent is paid on entry (or before). This is transferred immediately to a government approved scheme – Safe Deposit Scotland. Thereafter, rent must be paid by direct debit on the 1st of each month.
All our homes are handed over scrupulously clean and that is how we expect them back – what’s good for tenants on the way in is good for us on the way out! We also offer all new tenants a good bottle of wine as a thank you for choosing Newton.
We aim to instruct repairs immediately and, once instructed, we have a full-time repairs manager to liaise with tenant, the owner and contractors. We do our best to make sure that repairs are carried out quickly and to a high standard.
For any issues out with office hours we have a list of Emergency numbers and troubleshooting questions.
