I have recently sold two properties with McEwan Fraser Legal and couldn't recommend them highly enough. I live in Canada so was expecting difficulties with the time difference, but as they are opening longer than any other local agent I didn't. My property in Edinburgh sold for £35,000 above HR in just 3 weeks. We received an offer in the first week, but my negotiator advised that we wait and go to closing. An excellent piece of advice. The flat in Glasgow took just over a month. However, ...

Don't touch them with a ten foot pole unless your house is in the centre of Edjnburgh and worth half a million minimum. Sell the concept of part exchange but actually there are very strict criteria around this. Promise to sell your home in six weeks. Over valuation of properties and unrealistic asking prices. Poor service and poor communication. No effort of their part to push the property re advertisement etc unless you pay the earth to upgrade. Fees are double what other agencies ...

Poor service. Poor experience. Read the fine print very carefully before engaging in service. Despite verbal assurances, McEwen Fraser Legal cannot guarantee a prompt sale of your property due to market conditions - their written words (not mine) following complaint....

If your thinking of using McEwan Fraser to sell your house then one word should spring to mind, DONT. Don't be taken in by their spiel about being the best in the country because they were truly awful when selling mine. I was wanting to cancel within the first 14 day cooling off period but my wife was taken in by them and persuaded to give them a chance, now she rues the day. If you do decide to use them to sell your home then whatever you do, don't use their legal side, stick with your own sol...

Just sold my house and hit with massive bill, and although expected to spend a few thousand, near 10k bill wasn't what I imagined. Hidden charges, expensive estate agent fee and don't sign up for commission fee above house value as just another rip off. Too late for me but they are just short of being crooks. Shop around as I wouldn't use themy ever again....

DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY WITH A BARGE POLE. Darren Lee appeared to me to go out of his way to ignore any request or instruction from me & seemed to think he was only working for one party, my ex-spouse, who was also involved in the sale. The survey was progressed in direct conflict to instruction given by my lawyer & was carried out by a survey company who had made up their mind about the value of the property before even leaving their office (but after discussion with Mr Lee). Treated me with dignity & as if I was a valued customer Accepted instruction from me & my lawyer Accepted the fact that I actually had an understanding of the value of the specific property
Comment on agent fees
Interesting that the surveyor could arrive at a value of the property after discussion with Mr Lee & before even seeing the property. He even imagined a brick built chimney, which I had to point out only existed inn the glossy builders pictures from another site, but not the one for my house, where there are no chimneys. Interesting that the surveyor believed the local market was "flatlining" & gave a valuation around ‚£20k lower than any other Agent I spoke with in the area. Interesting that when the house sold within a week for ‚£10k over "valuation", Mr Lee was able to claim his 10% bonus on top of the agreed basic fees. Anyone smell a rat about that cosy valuation arrangement & fee bonus?...

We welcome all client feedback however it is important that an accurate and true account of the facts are fully reported on review sites MFL have no influence over the value a chartered surveyor puts on a property and if you believe the value was determined by the surveyor without seeing your property or in any way influenced by our regional manager you should report the matter to the institute of chartered surveyors. We note from our records you achieved considerably more for your prope....

McEwan Fraser Legal did a fantastic job in selling my property. Clear communication being able to pick up the phone and speak to someone at any time of the day for me was a great help also the I liked the online dashboard in terms of keeping me up to date on things. My only real complaint is they are bit more expensive than the other estate agents I had out to see me, but they were really worth it. As I got lot more over the home report. The advice and guidance has made the stressful exp...

My experience shows how estate agents as a so-called profession have such a dire reputation. They seem perfectly happy to tell fibs to the people paying for their services, you pay for absolutely everything at top dollar prices but are still charged a hefty commission on top -for what exactly? I tried on several occasions to get their professional input into achieving a less slow sale with only limited benefit. The last straw came when they said they would only pass across the formal offer lette...

A bad experience - that's it. The salesman who came for the initial view of our property was very enthusiastic, and that's why we went with McEwan Fraser. The photographer was also very good. Everything else about the firm was a bad experience. After we had signed up we were allocated to an office based person (without reference to us) who never bothered to come and look at the property. How can you speak for something you have never seen? We paid the up-front fees immediately but even so were...

We were delighted to hear that your initial contact with the company was good but disappointed that it was perhaps not up to scratch thereafter. As we take our customer service very seriously we would appreciate some further details so we can look into what happened as we always welcome constructive feedback. Managed to send only 2 viewers in 2 years; and we did not sell our house. Moreover they did not fully disclose the exorbitant costs at the point of registration (£500, apparently only for photography and the schedule; a further £1000 for their non-existent 'service' which we discovered only when we tried to leave them - they sent us no paperwork during our 'contract'). On top of that their percentage is well in excess of other agencies, though this is irrelevant if they don't help yo...

You haven't provided a name or an address so it is difficult to investigate your issues, however when a property only achieves 2 viewers in 2 years it strongly suggest the property is overpriced, or unattractive for another reason to potential buyers. Just sold our house through Mcewen Fraser and to say it has left a sour taste in the mouth would be the understatement of the century. Contact and communication has been non existent. We were forgotten about on several occasions, and it took constant perseverance from us to even get our house on the market. Staff are rude and need a lot of training on customer care and satisfaction. But worst of all is the ridiculous charges and hidden clauses in their contracts, i can only describe our fina...

The lawyers of McEwan Fraser Legal should be struck off by their professional body. Highly unprofessional people, never return correspondence be that via mail, e-mail or telephone. Very dishonest and have not a shred of integrity. Do not expect them to hold their hands up and say sorry if they make a mistake. They will certainly not make any attempts to correct their mistake, even if given the opportunity. They will just ignore you and hope you give up. I purchased a house in 2011 and the se...

I am still upset by this awful company. Their practice and conduct was not correct. They told me missives had been concluded and they had not. They should be investigated and I wish I had written to the Law Commissions. I could write at great length about my experience, but I know they will reap what they have sown and I am not alone. Yet they were awarded Estate Agents of the year????....

Had tried to sell my property a few years ago, at the start of the property slump, and it didn\'t sell so this time round I wanted to make sure it shifted. On hearing the advertising on radio for McEwan Fraser Legal I decided to go with them. I realised that they charged more for their fees but I thought it would be worth it if I managed to sell the flat. Getting the property on the market was seamless and the staff that I dealt with were very attentive. If I didn\'t know better I would ha...

Oh jeez, where do I begin? From start to finish it was diabolical. Several stiff complaints went nowhere. We tried to sell three properties through them and eventually pulled the plug on two of them, such was the incredibly shocking experience. We only left the one property with them as it was going through missives etc. and even then they cocked it up spectacularly. We quickly sold our other properties through another agent and with no fuss whatsoever but McEwan Fraser took an overly heavy-...

I placed an offer on a property, which they had been advertising for at least 6 months. My offer was accepted. 2 weeks before my entry date I discovered that the owner of the property did not have full title to all the land that the house was built on. It is my view that McEwan Fraser should have verified this long before it came to this point. Sale obviously fell through and I blame McEwan Fraser for this fiasco....

So far our property has been on the market for 16 months, we\'ve not had a single viewing. We\'ve had very little in the way of contact with them since they took our money for marketing fees and ever since then it\'s nigh on impossible to get hold of the estate agent.
