You can trust them to handle your tenancy as much as you can trust a dodgy car salesman. There is a reason this firm is ranked LAST out of the 21 lettings agents in the area. I am now having to enter a legal battle with this agency because they not only 1) terminated my prospective tenancy for nor fault of my own, but they then 2) withheld my deposit and despite agreeing to return the amount to me I have had nothing, I have done everything within my power to rectify this, it's an injustice and inhumane because it left me temporarily homeless and withheld my funds, when I tried by phone and email on several occasions to explain this to them, my situation fell on deaf ...

This agency is an absolute joke. I recommend anyone planning to rent with them not to. We rented with them for two years and they did nothing about our complaints regarding fixing up things that went wrong. When we terminated our contract they took a large amount from our deposit stating that the place was not in order, mind you that most faults at the place was due to them not dealing with the issues reported to over those two years. Hi Unfortunately, you have not provided your identity so I am therfore unable to comment on your specific issues. However, I can only say that we always address issues that are the responsibility of the landlord if we manage the property. Some landlords choose to manage their own properties and Matthew Williams act as an introducing agent. In the latter case, we are not allowed to arrange repairs. This estate agents is an absolute joke. Had the misfortune of dealing with a staff member *who is without doubt the most intimidating, rude, and threatening individual I have ever had dealings with. Do not come to Matthew Williams with any issue in the property, you are likely to be threatened with legal action, and if not, it will never get fixed anyway. We are sorry that you feel that your tenancy did not end to your satisfaction. Whilst we have a duty to be fair to our tenants, we also have a duty to our landlords to ensure that the property is given up in the same condition to that which it was taken. This estate agent is an absolute joke. They will smile to your face but as soon as you've left or hung up the phone your concern will descend into the deepest drawer and never looked at again. If something is wrong with your property or broken it is near impossible to have it fixed. I am sorry that you feel that your issues were not dealt with promptly. Unfortunately we act as an agent to the landlord. We have to get any work approved by them. Nor can we insist (although we strongly recommend) that a landlord supplies an inventory as it protects them as much as the tenant. We use third parties to complete repairs and are sorry that they did not show at the time stated. If you had called the office, we would have contacted them to establish what the delay was.
