Comments on Agent Fees

We were initially told that our tenancy would be continuous as long as the landlord was happy. This gave us a sense of security and trust. After six months, the landlord suddenly came for an inspection and claimed the flat was unclean — a surprise to us, given our demanding work schedules and ongoing efforts to maintain the place. In response, we spent 10 full days cleaning the property thoroughly, replacing furniture, glassware, and other items — going above and beyond what should be expected of tenants. Despite all of this, we were abruptly evicted. The reason given was the previous condition of the flat, even though we left it in far better shape than when we first moved in. To make matters worse, the landlord kept the entire security deposit — a sum equivalent to six months’ rent — as if we had done nothing to care for the property. It feels like a deliberate tactic to profit from short-term tenants. This experience left us feeling used and deceived. It seems their strategy is to rent for six months, keep the full deposit, and push tenants out under weak justifications. On top of everything, their attitude was shockingly aggressive. When we tried to raise our concerns, we were met with hostility and the dismissive response: “Do whatever you wish.” Overall, this has been a deeply disappointing and upsetting experience. We would strongly caution others against trusting this landlord or agency.
