This same thing happened to us - however our offer was accepted and we paid the fee to ensure it was ours (£524) for them to only ring back on the Monday to say the landlord had gone with another offer. Now I have to wait 10 days to get my money back. I am sure there are some legal obligations - if not, moral. ...

No point saying the rubbish you do if you don't actually tell us what they did wrong. Your post is based on your tunnel vision opinion and no good to anyone.
