They masquerade as commercial estate agents, but it’s clear that they are really surveyors who don't understand that estate agency is a people business. We travelled to Central London on short notice to view an office space they had advertised, only to find out after the viewing that they didn't have the landlord's agreement to let the property as advertised. Why list a property and invite busy people to viewings if you don't actually have the landlord's agreement? It seems their only aim is to waste people's time and make their unprofessional staff appear busy to higher-ups. Do not view any commercial property with this agent; they are extremely unprofessional and complete timewasters.

Ben on 6th Aug 20211 Star Review Atrocious, incompetent and expensive. For the last two years they have taken money from us and provided nothing in return. They need constant reminders to do anything. Late on delivery of accounts, disorganised on payments, simply just don’t know what to do. Organising the simplest of house related costs, electricity and gas, baffles them. Answering emails is a infrequent occurrence and when they do it just shows up how little progress they have made. Please do not use this company, although it appears they have lots of experience on their website they don’t or maybe they just don’t care about some of the properties.

If they reply to emails at all, they often take weeks, and on several occasions they were explicitly rude and sarcastic. They still haven't attended to minor repairs which we reported months ago. There was absolutely no sense of personal connection between tenant and agent. I've had previous estate agents who assign you a personal agent who knows all the tenants and the property and is your first point of call with any queries. Not the case here; most of the time I had no idea who I was meant to contact with a query, and often our emails got cc'd around the office a bit before landing with someone who might deign to help us.

Positives: the property was in beautiful condition; rent itself was good value; check in happened smoothly

They made it abundantly clear in their demeanour throughout our (short) tenancy that they care about little more than collecting our money and keeping the landlord happy.

Appalling customer service with no care or recourse to the customer. Throughout the tenancy admin has at best been sporadic, with things chased diligently when Daniel Watney wanted something, but slowly dealt with if it was something we as tenants needed. However, moving out proved the worst experience; after some confusion with leaving furniture which we had agreed to put in place of furniture the landlord had when we arrived, we were charged then to REMOVE said furniture. On discussion, it was agreed that if the landlord DIDNT want the furniture, we would remove it (I would have kept it). In fact, unilaterally Daniel Watney removed the furniture, didn't inform us, and disposed of it AND charged us for the privilege. They have blamed process, ignoring the fact that this was not what was agreed (and forgetting that WE are the customers). But they don't care we're moving out. I advise no body to use this backward company on this basis. The sooner these businesses which have no ethos of actually SERVING their customers, are put out of business, the better.

I just finished renting a flat with Daniel Watney after 3 years. I can honestly say that apart from a flood from the flat above, I have never had to call their helpdesk with a problem. I have dealt with the same people throughout that time so I liked the continuity of that and also their professional and very friendly attitude. I have found dealing with Daniel Watney when checking out was very easy and would certainly recommend them and use them again

I was recommended by a friend who was renting in the City but was hesitant as I was looking in the West End and Maida Vale area which Daniel Watneys do not have an office there. However, Steve came out to show me several properties – some good and some not so good and eventually settled on a flat in Maida Vale. I took a long time choosing so fully appreciated the time that Steve took to show me around over two separate visits. Since then I have only had a couple of snagging issues which have been dealt with promptly. I would definitely recommend them for their lettings.BJ

I have used the letting services of Daniel Watney on two separate occassions; once on my own to rent a flat from them and separately a couple years later renting with a friend of mine.
I found them to be an approachable, professionally run firm and were helped over the years with our random requests for additional locks, wardrobe shelves etc... all the usual stuff that we couldn't do on our own DIY-wise.
So from a woman's view, it's always a bit of a gamble finding a decent agent but they were really good bunch and i'd use them again.
