On this street there are about 10 different agencies. Now, I am no econony expert, but I would naively expect that with such high competition the customer service would be stellat. Err, no... far from it. Sure we entered as tenants needing to renew the contract so I do understand that on the custumer chain we are at the very bottom. I could get over the absolute cold sholder we were treated to, being interrupted repteadly with a snark 'how may I help' if the service otherwise would not have been...

Appalling company to deal with. I have just moved my properties to another agent and I am so relieved - dealing with Countrywide has been incredibly stressful. I have complained many times over the years, but nothing has ever really changed. They have no interest in doing a good job for the landlord, and I suspect that this is also the case for the tenant - they're only interest in how much more they can squeeze out of both sides. They are always coming up with new ways to charge additional fees...

Company is a joke !! Worst I have ever had to deal with ! Washing machine broke down, waited two weeks for it to be fixed for it to break down again waited abt 2/3 month second time round. My lease was up and it still wasn't fixed before we moved, causing us to go back and forth to a laundrette with a two year old ! Fire place was also up with one screw, fell off the wall just missed my daughter ! Near the end of the lease we were out one day, came home and the door was open (confused by this) w...

Avoid like the plague. They will not answer emails, they will not fix problems, they will lie and then finally your deposit will be raided to pay for things they didn't fix during your tenancy....

Worst letting agent I have had the misfortune to deal with - would never use again. Many problems with contracts beforehand, and different staff members saying different things. On the day we were meant to move we were all packed up and leaving Dundee when they phoned to say we could not get into the flat as our guarantor's reference had not been completed. We had submitted the request for references 4 weeks previously so not clear why they left it to that morning to tell us, instead of a few we...

Those people decided to keep 1000 pounds deposit for no reason whatsoever. They did not provide any evidence or any receipt. On the phone they told me that the cleaning was 100-150 pounds roughly (the house was in perfect order when we left it) and they kept the rest for other expenses about which they couldn't provide any other details. They told me with arrogance that they couldn't do anything else and that we should dispute the decision if we believe that it is unfair. They also admitted on t...

The worst estate agency ever. The misery these guys made me go through was atrocious. The staff at candleriggs branch are rude, unhelpful and dishonest including the manager. They lie through their teeth. I would never ever deal with these guys again and nor will I recommend them. I am a landlord and i had to cancel/terminate my contract with them only just after a month. So you can imagine how bad it was. Awful and disgusting customer service. This place should be shut down in my opinion!...

I had an extremely positive experience with Countrywide Byres Rd. right from the valuation where Gavin made sure my questions were answered and he made sure he brought up things I hadn't even thought of! As a first sale for me I was very worried I would miss an important question. I was passed on to Iona once I had contacted them to advise I would go ahead and use them. Iona took me through the next steps advising me on each part that was required with no pressure. She gave me the number of the...

Pretty standard to the agents I had out to give valuation. Although they included the cost of them completing the viewings within the fee which made my life easier.

Good evening, Worst letting agents weยดve ever come across: rude, dishonest and incompetent staff at the Glasgow and Hamilton branch. We rented a fully furnished house, we were reassured all repairs had been carried out before signing the lease but unfortunately, it was all false. Upper floor furniture had been removed, there were no beds, house was filthy to extremes, repairs had not been carried out and most of them are still unsesolved, after over two months and half. They give you app...

Do not expect to get your deposit back. Check and see who the owner is on tenancy. If its a Mr or Mrs McAllister then im afraid you have been scammed. They own the letting agency so theres a conflict of interest there imo. They have a 100% dispute record for the deposit scheme as far as I can tell through my investigations. Meaning no matter how good you leave the property they will raise a dispute in the hope you do not understand the complicated deposit dispute scheme process. They will then f....

I had two agents visit the property, Slater Hogg and Countrywide and quite frankly they were worlds apart in terms of the service level they offered, same deal in terms of commission and fees etc.but the way and the detail that countrywide went into in terms of what they would do to sell my property was absolutely excellent. They gave me a very good idea of what I might get in terms of number of viewers and also a guide to the price I might acheive and also a time frame for completion of the sa...

Abysmal service. I have let from Countrywide twice now and both times the service has been lazy, shocking and at times unsavoury. There is obviously no communication between staff as each person gives me contrasting information, and I am always misguided on what documents I need to send, who needs to be at what signing, etc. In particular I was spoken to in a horrible and rude tone on the phone when she claimed she wouldn't do extra paperwork for an extra guarantor because we 'didn't feel like ...

Couldn't habe been worse. Just when I thought they couldn't get anything else wrong, they messed up again. Countrywide seems to have a corporate culture of misleading and mistreating tenants (and, from what I hear, landlords as well). They never responded to my written requests to do anything (repairs, initial cleaning, etc.) What's worse, they sometimes respond positively by phone (never in writing) but in the end, they just never carry out anything at all. Sometimes, they are just obnoxious: upon handing them my description of my flat's inventory and cleanliness, the response given by N. Scott at t...

I have had my house on the market for around 7months with countrywide shawlands branch. I can safely say it is one of my worst experiences ever! To start with it took around 10 weeks for them to put an advertising board up outside my home. I did get some viewings through them around 5 I think however the only follow up/ feedback I received was from one of the viewings. Countrywide always rang me after to say they would be chasing up the viewer and come back to me but they never did except for on...

I contracted Countrywide to sell our flat in East Kilbride and am very disappointed by their service. Not only did they fail to secure a buyer despite at least 2 serious viewers, they also recommended their rental branch in Hamilton which provided very poor service as well. I encourage all potential owners to review the extremly small print in the contract to the extent that you are clear on Countrywide charges should they fail to sell your home and you are forced to remove it from marketing. ...

The whole experience has been a nightmare? The staff never return calls, have a low regard for tenants and seldom carry out what was promised. They also mark you as a problem as soon as you ask to get things resolved. Will move agent as soon as current tenant vacates and our new property will not be with Countrywide. We are trying to provide tenants with a professional service, but Countrywide let that down. Do not use!...

General poor service from start to finish. Did not return calls when connected them but then hounded me when they had a question of me. Very slow service. Conflicting stories and pieces of information depending which member of staff spoke to. Did not get back to you when promised. Still out of pocket re deposit 2 months after tenancy finished. I have had to initiate all the process to get that back. Repairs were not carried out and property was left in a dangerous state resulting in me getting i...

Just the worst. Avoid at all costs. The process of trying to get a contract sorted was time consuming due to the unhelpfullness of the staff. If you have a job it will be impossible to get anything sorted as they refuse to do anything outside of a 9-5 time slot. Any issues with a flat will be ignored, to the point where we had to have the council intervene for some pretty basic maintenance tasks. The company is far from transparent with various subsidiaries giving everyone you talk to som...

We have been letting an apartment from Countrywide Lettings in Glasgow for the last 10 months. This has been our absolutely worst experience with a letting agency to date. Usually we don't care enough to write reviews about anything, but we have endured so much neglect, indifference, money grabbing tactics and lack of respect from them that we decided to make an exception, so that people know what they're dealing with before they sign a lease with them. A few examples: 1. 5 days after we move...

Originally started my lease with the office listed, however at some point in the three and a half years they moved to Kersland street, and of course never bothered to tell anyone. During our time here there was several issues, mostly annoying and kept expectations low. As soon as we moved in the "secure" entry was not working, this was a bit worrying as it was a new build. It needed almost forceful entry just to get in, this eventually got fixed, well fixed for the time being, during ...

Hi, We had let our property through countrywide letting in 26-Jun-2012. Initially things were ok. However after the 1st tenant left, they deducted cleaning charges from our rent saying they will be paying it back. After the 2nd tenant it was same story again. We had twice paid for cleaning charges. We have waited patiently for months. It has been more than a year since we paid for cleaning charges when first tenant moved out and almost 6 month since the last tenant moved out and I see no ...

Unable to fulfill expectations and hit us with additional charges. Took on Countrywide services to sell out flat in Glasgow, South Side and was charged up front for the sale. Had to chase for a sign-board several times and then spent weeks without any viewers - even after the sales pitch stated that they have a "huge list of prospective buyers" and stated that they expected to sell the property within 10 weeks. Had to constantly chase then for the sale board, updates as to why n...

Don\'t sell something or raise expectations when you are not able to fulfill the service. I understand that you need to cover costs if people prematurely take properties off the market, but why hit people with additional charges when you have been unable to provide the service discussed when the contract was signed?

The agent did not turn up for check in on two occasions meaning the time I spent cleaning and tidying up the property was not seen. I had to come out of my lease early and Countrywide made it seem like they were doing me a favour and it was hassle for them - when in fact I was up to date on rent and lost £305 of my deposit on a \'cancellation fee\'. The house was cleaned thoroughly and tidied up as well before I left and I was told "not to worry about anything" and simply hand th...

This company is very quick to take a lot of money from you. They demand holding fee over the phone and chare £140 admin. I was forced to take a 6 months contract as they did not accept my temporary work contract, past landlord references from other large Glasgow companies (which I had to get and pay for) and they then phoned my place of work to verbally check my employment contract £140 admin and I did all the running around as the staff were very slow at contacting all relevant p...

When they offer they flat to me and demanded the money instantly they should have stuck to the move in date advertised and agreed when I paid upfront. They rent to be reassessed due to property condition. They should not charge such a high amount for admin, and should have told me when they gave me no option but to take a 6 months lease they they would again be charging more admin. They should make it clear on their web page and at viewings that all these charges will apply and will be expected on the spot, and that future paper work charges will be billed.
