Absolutely disgusted with this agent. Landlord agreed early exit as I could no longer afford the rent. Still told I has to pay up till new tenants moved in... ok took this on the chin. After inspection was done at flat it turns out they were taking all but 74 pound of 975 pound deposit due to faults and mould that was there when I moved in. The 4 visits a year we was supposed to have we had 2 and on both occasions they were told about the problems but yet nothing was done and now it's my fault...

I am glad I read these reviews before I became one of their customers. Me and my partner were very interested in renting one of their properties. We visited their branch in Chelmsford a week ago to ask more about the flat we were interested, however were told that it is no longer available. After a week I decided to give them a call again just to double check this is the case. I was told that the flat is still available so we arranged a viewing. During the visit we were encouraged by the agent a...

I recently moved into a rented property via the Chelmsford branch of CM Lettings. The service extended was below par especially post acceptance of my offer. 1) We had agreed on an additional viewing (after my offer was accepted) but when I turned up at the property there was no one around. When I called the office, they mentioned there was a goof up and they didn't really book that time. Luckily the existing tenants were in the property and agreed to let us in, so we managed to have a second ...

Upon our initial enquiry to CMRENT regarding a flat in Witham, I was greeted by an extremely rude lady on the other end of the phone. When I asked whether we could view the flat later than the time she had originally suggested, as I was taking my daughter swimming at that time, she rudely grunted "like when!? We shut at 4!!". Upon asking why she had given that reply, she stated that she was booked up all day and one staff member down, so was very busy. I took her name and declined t...

CM Rent are the worst letting agent we have EVER experienced. They conned us into moving into a very poorly maintained house, and refused to do any repairs for months-even ones that broke health and safety laws. They also did not tell us that the person living next door was very noisy, abusive, and lived with a piano teacher-so very loud at times when you need to relax on an evening. We called cm rent and they had no consideration for us. The male staff that I have met there are very rude, s...

Blaming tenants for mould in properties is ludicrous. Mould is caused by inherent problems in walls or bad ventilation, or poorly built buildings and mould is a health hazard that should be reported asap and reduced rent can be paid until the problem is sorted out. It seems pretty clear that CM Rent spend more time trying to deflect their bad reviews on this site, than dealing with maintaining their rental properties and offering their tenants a good service. Very poor.....

I cannot say too much about this excuse of a business as I am, at present, seeking legal recourse over a number of outstanding issues in regard to the property, the agent and the landlord. All i will say is that DO NOT trust cmRent any further than you can throw them. unless you wish to pay over the top fees for a service which, once they have relieved you of your money, becomes non existent!! Footnote to Michael Saville: I do not work for one of your competitors. I am not one of your ex-m...

My experience with CMrent has been stressful, upsetting and frustrating. I would strongly advise anyone considering to rent a property with this company to reconsider and use another letting agency. The staff are unorganised, showed poor communication skills both within their own branch as well as between branches (eg: Chelmsford lettings office and Braintree maintenance office). They also charge extraordinarily high rates of renewals (£200 for 12 months in our case) and start up fees. I h...

Better communication skills throughout the whole company Better record keeping throughout the whole company Better customer service and less rude, disinterested staff on the phones Better system for organising maintenance issues Better communication skills as a result of inspections BETTER INSPECTIONS- the staff carrying them out DO NOT CARE and are there for 5 minutes maxmimum Better communication of renewal fees and explanation of WHY they are so high CLEAR INDICATION of when the landlord wants tenants out

To Michael Saville, I am disgusted that you have taken the time to respond to an online forum comment and yet I have had to constantly chase your employees for the past year regarding my issues with your property. I would recommend that you are as efficient in responding to customer complaints via telephone or email directly, opposed to replying through a forum website. I am more than happy to supply you with my phone number so that you explain to me how 'CM-azing' the company is, as I am yet....

We have expressed an interest in a number of property\'s all of which still need to be confirmed with the tenant baring in mind this is since early December. Have expressed concern with dealing with a particular staff member and the response I got was ridiculous explaining she has had a word and she is happy to deal with us professionally. This was not the problem the problem was ***xxxx*** a member of my family\' who would need to be present when viewing the property and understandably this was...

I\'ve been looking into renting from cmRENT as they have some lovely properties on offer. I\'ve been renting my current flat from Upsticks and I\'ve had such a horrible experience I wanted to make sure I wasn\'t going to encounter such a poor standard of service again. I took to looking through reviews of estate agents and property firms, after looking through several reviews for cmRENT I can say I am utterly disappointed not by the reviews themselves but the unprofessional and quite frankly...

I have very unfortunately been a tenant in a property supposedly managed by CM Rent, and I have been waiting several months for basic repairs to be done. I had to call out the environmental health to assess the safety of the property as Paul Buck ignored a written formal complaint I sent them, and the environmental health found even more things wrong with the property that we weren\'t even aware of. CM Rent do not check over the properties they let out whatsoever, and they do not work with respo...

Out of 630+ managed properties, we do not have any current Tenants called 'Alison' with the problems that you have described above. If you have another name and have a real complaint, then please email the office that you rented through, ie. chelmsford@cmrentandsales.co.uk. We can then deal with this through our recognised complaints procedure as stipulated by being an ARLA & TPO member. Thank you. Like most people who use CMRent, they were fine when moving in, but when anything needed doing within the property they were pretty useless. The staff are completely incompetent. The problem we\'re having at the moment (STILL) is that we\'re not getting our deposit back. I have explained to them NUMEROUS times what needs to be done, but they refuse, claiming to get my desposit back I need to get it from the 2 current tenants living in the flat there now (I have moved out now thankfully). Jesus christ Michael. Reading all these reviews and all your comments back, you never seem to take ANY blame for your own company, rather trying to blame the actual tenants. Its not our job to know all the legal ins and outs of tenancy. Thats YOUR job, and to help it be a smooth transition. How about you just hold your hands up and say "Yes we screwed up, I apologise" rather than pathetically trying to blame me for supposedly changing my tenancy. Which I didn't. We agreed for a year in....

Rude, unhelpful and made me so angry I had to try my hardest not to swear at him. In fairness, I would like to state that all other members of staff I have dealt with at CM Rent have been helpful throughout my letting the property. However, on departure my issues have started. I moved out of the property on the final day of my agreement as per my two months notice. My move out day was a Sunday and I was therefore told I could either leave the keys through the door of their Chelmsford branch ...

Hi Zoe, after reading through all the correspondence between you and Paul, my findings are that you have already agreed to the £75 deposit deductions with Paul Buck (reduced from the original £90 proposed by the landlord). You were offered the DPS dispute resolution process by Paul at the time, but you chose not to go down this route and agreed the £75 deductions. Sorry that you're now not happy after agreeing to this. I'm afraid cmRENT & SALES can't personally refund this amount to....

This letting agent is very badly organised and have very low standards in the properties they rent out. They refuse to do electrical safety tests on any of their properties as there is a loophole in the law that gets them out of this, which is worrying to say the least. They refused to fix basic problems in our flat-such as electric faults and various missing essentials and other faults to the property that had clearly been there for years. We notified them of some of the problems before...

Trust in the reviews you see online as we did not and we are paying for it now by living in a house where we will have to fight to get even the most basic repairs carried out. This agent have pretty much done everything wrong and in an extremely unprofessional manner despite us being good tenants, so they would have to be a different company all together to help us \'change our mind\'

Hi Mary, please let me know your surname, the property you were renting and I will look into this. We take our instructions from the landlord and cannot carry out any maintenance without their authorisation. Some repairs the landlord is legally required to do, others they are not. If they refuse to carry out non-emergency repairs then there is little we can do. But if the property is dangerous or unsafe, we would not re-let it. We do not make the decisions on property repairs, we act as an agent....

Fantastic company. The below reviews are a load of rubbish, which is quite clear from just written the lack of detail and the fact they are all targeted at one branch I am a tenant of cmRENT and have nothing but praise from them. They are friendly, polite and wiling to help in any way they can. They had nothing but patience for the extensive questions I asked about the property, and always got back to me very quickly. Easily one of the best estate agents I\'ve dealt with....

Hi Michael, I do not work for allagents. I was reading the comments with interest and agree with Zoe, the only seemingly real review to you is a positive one. How fortunate for you. The most awful, arrogant company I have ever came across, I were with CMRent for a year and had to take 8 days holiday from work losing a total of 1370GBP because of this , CMRent had a severe bolier problem which they refused to fix properely and continues to this day, then they gave me three weeks notice to vacate the property after I complained about the amount of time off that I had to take. Further to this they now are refusing to return my deposit, despite the property being cleaner then...

We do not have anyone in any of our offices called Louise, so this is a completely made up story by an ex-employee (or friend of) and should not be trusted. Dizzy are's comment underneath is Tina Rogers, who is an ex-employee who tried and failed to set up her own business after leaving our employment. The whole thing is a fabrication intended to discredit us and I would suggest anyone wanting to know the true service provided by cmRENT should read our frequently received testimonials at www.cmr....
