We have always had perfect service and communication with Castle Estates in Dronfield. We have a great relationship with them and our landlord too. I rented a room in a shared house, let by Castle, and for the first time in my renting life, was immensely impressed with the service we received. This was primarily down to Claire, who responded to emails and returned calls promptly and provided sound advice continuously. When we had house issues, Claire and team were extremely helpful in what we needed to do and resolved any issues with our (aging) house clearly, communicating regularly. This was the only area I have complaints with. The fees felt unnecessarily expensive. If I remember rightly, β€š£75 to get reference and β€š£250 if you want to leave the contract early (even once you've found a replacement). Probably no different to other agents but frustrating nonetheless.

We are obviously very disappointed with this review, and we do consider it extremely misleading and inaccurate. What Adam fails to mention is that the £25.00 administration charge has nothing whatsoever to do with his deposit, but was applied because of additional work involved in having to return to the tenant a further rent payment that was made because he failed to cancel his Standing Order ! I rented a property with them for 2 years and each and every time I had an issue it was dealt with without any hassle or being asked a thousand questions that makes you feel like it was your fault, as you get with some agents. I feel bad I was unable to select the whole team instead of singling out just two! From start to end, Castle have been nothing but outstanding. Nothing was ever too much trouble, all staff were highly professional, friendly and acted upon any issues we had promptly and effectively. This is a rude, greedy, unhelpful estate agency. They pretend to waive certain fees for you to get you to sign up with them, then they charge you significant amounts of money for doing absolutely nothing, (even if they turn down your application) . I have used Castle Estates for a number of years to rent out flats I own in London and have always found them to be very good at finding tenants, servicing their needs and keeping me the landlord informed. For example there was a problem with a boiler between Xmas day and New Year's Day 2014 and the problem was sorted in 24 hours. I believe they are fair to both tenants and landlords which is rare. They did a thorough review of the fees in the area before we settled on a fee each time we did a letting. When there were offers, they informed me of them but also gave me a sense of whether the tenant fit and accompanying offer were a good match. I felt this was a robust and thorough part of their service and I always good good value for my home and the tenants were reasonable and well matched to the property.

Never ever use these agents, me and my partner were pregnant at the time of moving in and we were desperate, they knew this and they really played us, we paid the bond and thought we were moving in, the house needed alot of work they said give us a month to sort it out we thought ok, next day rang us up and said we\'re selling it we were upset thought find somewhere else, but then next day rang back and said not selling it now but you need to move in now but we\'ll do repairs while your there so we moved in but guess what the repairs never happened, and 3 and half years later, me and my partner have split up because of the mould because of my child and now going through courts to get custody and this CASTLE ESTATES were the reason DO NOT USE THEM THEY DONT CARE hand keys over on 26 Feb 2014 so don\'t know about bond, so prob see you in court CASTLE ESTATES :-(

My advice is stay away from this agent. They may seem nice and professional initially but as soon as you move out they don\'t want to know. I left the flat in a much better condition than i received it in and made sure everything was paid up. Staff and manager (when you can get through to him and on the very rare occasion he bothers to return phone calls) are experts in weasel-worded excuses but consistently fail to act, even when they make repeated promises and assurances to the contrary. It was thread bare and filthy, it can't have even been hoovered let alone shampoo'd! they demanded we pay them £180 to have them cleaned again by a company of their choice, which coincidently shared their address. I rented from Castle Estate, Battle, East Sussex a flat. When I moved in there was no electricity, bathroom and carpet was in terrible state. But unfortunatley, I was in hurry to move and I didn't check it and it was my first renting from estate agents. They didn't repair any faults during my stay there.
