Covent Garden welcomed The Lebanese Bakery a few days ago, marking a second branch for the popular restaurant best known for manousheh, a traditional flatbread made from a soft dough base, and available in a variety of sweet and savoury toppings including pomegranate, strawberry and pistachios, eggs and cheese, and diced beef. With the new opening, Covent Garden is posed to rival Soho as one of London’s hottest food districts. You have yet another reason to check out properties for sale in Covent Garden.

The Store at Bluebird, a concept store retailing luxury designer clothes, gifts, beauty products and accessories from such brands as Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang and Dusan, will move its flagship store from King’s Road in Chelsea to Covent Garden. The store will come to Carriage Hall on Floral Street, and aims to attract a bigger and more diverse audience. The 15,000 square foot store will be housed in the Grade II listed building whose architectural features include a central atrium and glass ceiling. It will have three floors, each boasting trees, plants and foliage. Also coming to Carriage Hall soon is Blink Brow Bar, a famous name in personalized beauty treatments, as well as a restaurant and roof terrace.

Temper Covent Garden opened on May 14, offering residents deep-pan Detroit style pizza in such interesting varieties as slow-cooked goat ragu and soft-shell crabs. There will also be a pizza bar serving thin and light pizza with regular toppings. The drinks menu is heavy on vermouth, including brands such as Belsazar, Cocchi, Regal Rose and Lillet. There are distinct Negroni, Americano and Spritzer lists.

The Whiskey Exchange, a specialist drink retailer offering a choice of over 9,000 whiskies and fine spirits, will open a second store at Fitzrovia’s Great Portland Street this month. The new store will cover 3,240 square feet and make more than 2,500 wines, beers and spirits available. Besides rare and luxury whiskies, the store will also provide a dedicated space for events, tastings and educational sessions.

A new restaurant led by renowned chef Yotam Ottolenghi will open in Fitzrovia next month. Called ROVI, the restaurant will feature a vegetable-focused menu and emphasise methods such as cooking over fire and fermentation. Ingredients will be sourced from organic, biodynamic farmers and the Ethical Shellfish Company, which delivers hand dived Isle of Mull scallops to top chefs across the UK.
