Taking ages to solve a problem. Even though my landlord lives in NZ, it is no excuse to take weeks for solving an issue. As an agent they should take more initiative! Same happened with the renewal of my contract. I was left in dark for weeks and I still would not know that I am under a so-called rolling contract if I hadn't called them several times. Interestingly, every time I called I was told the responsible person is out of house on a viewing. Why did he/she never call me back then? I also...

For just putting a signature under a contract and not taking care of the maintenance of the property: far way too much fees!!

Austin Rees have been managing our block for nearly 3 years. Everything seems to be working well and we don't have any complaints. The service is exactly what it says on the tin - efficient, transparent and effective - all at a reasonable price. One hell of a lot better than the previous agent....

Worse agency I've ever dealt with. Left me & my baby with no heating for 3 1/2 months claiming someone tried to call me 1 month after I reported the problem. No hot water in my kitchen for 3 weeks. 6 months of living with black mould all over my kitchen (when my baby was 3 months old). Stolen my electricity for last 1 1/2 years & when I asked why they were adding another item into my electricity that very day they served me notice! *. I paid my rent every single month without fail! The f...

I have been so disappointed and appalled by the lack of service provided by this company. I have been expected to live in the most unhealthy and uncomfortable of environments whilst renting with them (black mould covering the walls, clothes, shoes, food etc, no electricity for 3 days, cold, damp) and when I have called to get help the majority of the time no one answers the phone and if they do I have felt like I am bothering them and receive practically no help at all. Most recently my...

Maintain the buildings better. Provide an emergency phone number for out of hours. Not charge another ‚£90 administration fees at the end of the contract. I would actually like to leave my flat before the contract ends as I have no faith in the agency anymore and would like to move somewhere warm and where I can be healthy.

I have owned the above property for 6 years and during that time Austin Rees have been the managing agents. The only person at Austin Rees who has EVER been helpful was Aisha (not sure of last name). Anyone else I have dealt with over that time has been unhelpful and never, ever phones back or replies to emails. My letting agents have had the same problem. I even got to the point where I wrote (several times) to the managing director and received no reply. I have to say that Austin Rees has...

It is truly unbelievable these estate agents are still in business. I would recommend anything thinking of renting from them to think again. There is no communication from anyone at their shop and you will be left waiting for an email response for minimum 2 weeks, that's if you receive one at all! I shall never rent through Austin Ree's again, having rented from various other estate agents within the Brighton area these are by far the worst and unprofessional firm in the town. AVOID AT ...

We rent a flat in Brighton through different letting agencies in the past but this is the worst from far. You pay double fees for any charge just because you are couple they don´t consider it is just one flat. They lie about the fees during the view, they push you to pay the first deposit. They don´t clean the flats at all!!! Don´t manage between you and the landlord in case of something needs to be repaired or change. We complained from the first day ( it was recorded on the check-in l...

Had the misfortune of living in a building managed by Austin Rees. My estate agent, who handled our apartment, had to liase with them about building problems in the high rise ... We had a mould problem on our enclosed balcony, with water seeping through the concrete. We always kept balcony windows slightly open, as per instructions from our agent, to prevent moisture building up. We were told Austin Rees would deal with this issue as it concerned the concrete structure of the building. Austin Re...

I regret that in my dealings with Austin Rees, and particularly Nick Mills, I have been left suffering from considerable stress and disadvantage caused, in my view, by the blatant prejudice, neglect and spite of Nick Mills. I deal with a number of Managing Agents in and around the Brighton area; there is no doubt what-so-ever in my mind that Nick Mills has, almost single handedly, relegated Austin Rees to the very worst of the worst (to the extreme) to deal with. Accordingly, my advice wo...

Austin Rees are probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. They make promises they do not keep. Nick Mills told me barefaced lies. Their work is shoddy at best and they shamelessly put work the way of their friends and golfing buddies....

Austin Rees, is not listening us, is not trying to get at the bottom of their mistake.. but just trying to intimidate us to pay what we have paid already. This has been going on for 3 years and is at point to bring them in court as is affecting our life. They don\'t want to give us an appointment to discuss the issue in person, and also they have been ignoring all proof of payment we did sent to them via post. Also they don't do the maintenance work they should do in the building. if...

I agree with every comment made here about Austin Rees and particularly Nick Mills. He seems to believe that if he says they are the leading brighton agent often enough miraculously it will become true. If you complain to them they take offence and adopt a zero tolerance policy to your communications. They take ages to respond to most things, if they tesond at all and make up stories with no proof to back them up. The best thing they ever did was resign from managing our building.....
