Went through Atwell Martin as my friend worked there. Managed to get a good fee, however since we have been with them approx 2 years they over price all maintenance work. We had tenants at one stage and they left their ikea boxes in the garage and also a bit of the fibreglass was hanging down. They want to charge us £250 to clean it all out. I tried to sell my lovely property through them after they had been recommended me to me. After three weeks, I withdrew it as they were not very nice to deal with. Appalling photographs and equally bad marketing. Quite an arrogant company. The young negotiator clearly wasn't interested in selling the property, and I found the Director named above equally unsupportive. Wouldn't recommend. Wouldn't use again....

I am at a loss to know what to say regarding this review. We havent been disinstructed on a property within three weeks, our negotiators are highly experienced (but are delighted to be referred to as young) Our photography is frankly wonderful. Viewing our website is testament to that and I try to be as supportive as i can to both my staff and our clients. My principal concern is the costs of repairs, which have been crippling me. I have no reason to doubt that the work needed doing - or evidence that it was done badly - but their contractors seem to charge way beyond the going rate. There have been some outrageous costs, such as GBP804 to replace a washer/dryer. I have contacted several letting agents to ask how much they would charge and they awere all astounded at that cost. What agent could do to change your mind?
Maintenance companies will often inflate their costs expecially if they think that the landlord wil not even notice or care. Atwell Martin should aim to to get vaue for money for their client (the landlord). It takes jsut two minutes to Google and find our the going rate for white goods. They are lazy in the extreme making no effort to ensure quote is reasonable. This is the reason I am leaving them. If they gave evidence of challengin their maintenance companies I might reconsider. However, every alternative letting agent I have contacted so far has lower charges, so they\'d probably have to lower their charges a little to keep me.

Very rude member of staff told me that property would increase in value by £10000 (10%|) if i gave it a good clean as it is filthy! I had already told her that i would not market the property in its current condition as we had a snagging list to go through including replacing the flooring, deep cleaning decluttering etc. Initial valuation was also pitiful and did not even look around full property (she completely missed large cupboard which could be used as an office its that big) or ask...

I note your comments and that you bought the property from us. When requesting a valuation it is advisable to allow the valuer to see the property in the condition in which the property is to be sold. Sadly when a property is not up to scratch it is our job to tell you that as we would to all our clients, we are here to help our vendors maximise the potential of their property. If that isn't acceptable to you or is likely to hurt your feelings then requesting a valuation at that time is inadvisa....
