Terrible

Awful. bad from the word go. They owe my landlord 2 months rent which they held from him, also owe me my deposit.

This mob are truly terrible and I would be advised to steer well clear, if indeed they are still going. Myself and my girlfriend moved down from Liverpool into a flat in Romford so it was that particular branch we dealt with. Absolutely appalling service the whole way through. They took advantage of the fact we were moving from so far away and made so many mistakes I cannot possibly remember to write them all. Again, we had many problems with our deposit. We eventually warned them that we would go to the police if we did not have our money back. They tried to call our bluff by encouraging us to do that, so we did. The police said it was an offense but was for the Trading Standards' attention. Eventually, after threatening action through TSI, Tower managed to find our money. This was no compensation for their disgusting behaviour throughout our dealings with the 'company'. Awful.

I am a long time doing business with people and i have NEVER come across a Company to be as unorganised and untrustworthy especially the MD Gary Gibbons. Take my advice and steer clear.

VERY VERY POOR. I found the Wapping office staff VERY helpful as i could not get anything from the so called head office the MD and his little side kick are the worst. Mr Gary Gibbons and Darren Ling.

They refused to return my deposit, Gary Gibbons and Darren Ling ignored me and told me outright lies. WARNING! never do business with these people or any future company they may be involved with.

Dealt with their Romford office; Poor communication, rude staff, difficulties with payments and deposits keep pointing the finger to someone else and never resolve any issues - Worthless!

A friend of mine is having problems with Tower and asked me to take a look.
The company has had a petition for winding up made against it - it hasn't necessarily stopped trading yet. Companies House may be able to let you know which court will hear the petition and when. Anyone who is owed money should try to find this out and present evidence. Although the office in Wapping is empty, they still appear to be putting new ads up.
Current landlords and tenants should consider:
1. Cease all payments to them, and deal directly with your tenant/landlord. You have a right to exercise tort/lien in an already broken contract, so don't be bullied into handing over more money.
2. File for a CCJ. The "manager" who says it will cost you more is very very wrong. You will then be registered as a creditor automatically as and when a liquidator is appointed. The liquidator will then write to you to let you know what's going on and how much money you can expect to receive (and when).
3. Contact the Tenants Deposit Scheme regarding deposits. The agent should have passed recent deposits straight to them.
3. There may be criminal legal proceedings filed against the directors by the liquidator if they are deliberately trading while insolvent. It is illegal under the company's act 1985 (fraud) and carries large fines and/or a prison sentence. Keep an eye on these procedings (through the London Gazette or via the liquidator, when appointed) as they will undoubtedly need witnesses. Note down any conversations you have with management, and keep any emails/letters.

Terrible does not begin to describe this company, during my unfortunate time as a tenant the communication and service was poor at best. Having now left I am finding it impossible to get my deposit returned, the dirctor Gary Gibbons and his sidekick Darren Ling seem to have no interest in customer service whatsoever. I have just filed a CCJ against them. Avoid at all costs, and tell your friends !

I have used TPS to rent my property over the last 10/11 years. Things were fine until about 3 or so years ago...and then the problems started - late payments, shed loads of excuses, firstly under Grace Brackstone, and latterly (last 14 months or so) under Darren Ling. Absolutely diabolical service leaving me many £1000s out of pocket and many false promises. The Directors (Gary Gibbons and his wife) don't seem to be concerned either. The company now have many CCJs registered against them from creditors (many of whom are landlords I suspect). I have a CCJ against them too. In fact one of their creditors (not me) got pretty p*ssed off with them about 3 weeks ago, as they started a wind up order against the company. TPS now appear to be no longer trading!!! STAY CLEAR

I am also having lots of problems with TPS they owe me 2 months rent of which my tenant has paid them and they will not forward it onto me. Any ideas how i can go about getting it back, would be appreciated.

Exactly the same for me, except they owe me six months rent that the tennant has paid and now they've closed the management offices I can't even locate my keys that they hold. And the tennants deposit has also gone, but they keep trading !

Terrible

Rented a flat with broken furniture, which did not appear on the (pre-arranged) check-in inventory. Agreed to do a check-in inventory with me present and identify all items broken. Agent signed the inventory. When I left the flat they kept my deposit to pay for the broken furniture. The manager of the Wapping office responded, you are right but it is going to cost you more to take us to court. Avoid them.

Terrible

Has been a tenant but since our contract expired and has not been renewed, it is almost impossible to get our deposit back. The account manager, Darren Ling is rude and at times responds as if he is untouchable. Absolute pathetic customer service and does not respond to calls or return calls.
