Thatch & Co officially came into existence on 3rd January 2006 having evolved from Volker & Volker Ltd. We believe that estate agency is essentially a cottage industry because each area has its own peculiarities, each street its own value, and it is often the small, single agency staffed by people who know the area well which can provide the best service.

    I bought my new flat through Thatch and Co. No-one could claim that this was an easy purchase, for reasons entirely outside of Thatch & Co's control, but the tenacity and professionalism of John C. was a model of how an agent should handle a difficult sale. I have now moved into the property and am very grateful to John and his team. They will be my first port of call as and when I decide to move on.

    Thatch & Co had our property under offer in less than two weeks and took it to completion in two months with absolutely no hitches.

    The staff were pleasant and courteous and knew their market very well. Most importantly I would not describe them as your typical, pushy estate agents.

    I was initially concerned that with only one branch and no fancy website or iPhone apps that they would not be able to market the property as well as other agents. I was proved wrong and have come to realise that the personal touch and knowledge of all their applicants far outweighs the value of technology.

    I would highly recommend them and if the need arose would use them again.

    In their defence, Thatch & Co do seem to attempt to do things 'by the book' but they are pedantic, the workmanship of contractors is poor and they do not always give sufficient notice when attending a property (as in 24 hours, or sometimes no notice at all and workmen let themselves in unannounced). After vacating the property the calculation of deductions from the deposit were very slow.
