Barry is enthusiastic and confident. He told me he would get a certain type of tenant. I expressed a doubt but he did exactly that, and in a ridiculously short time. My previous experience with letting this property has been patchy - it's not an easy one....

I have found the staff at 70 Northgate street to be excellent. They have always let my properties within two weeks and to really good quality tenants. The company at this address is now called Northgate Letting Agents and has nothing to do with Barry Tennens who has set up idependantly as Tennens Properties in Guildhall Street. However I have also dealt with Barry and have had good service and no problems with him either....

I have dealt with Barry Tennens on several properties that i have around the Bury St Edmunds area. I was delighted when he rang me to say he has set up independently on Guildhall Street as Tennens Properties Ltd. Within 7 days of putting my properties on the market over half of them had been let out to American USAF. I will continue to use Tennens Properties and would recommend to my friends....

A Nightmare, landlady in Australia so Tennens can just do what they like, failed to show up for inspections, when they did show up they did not even look upstairs,very slow to deal with problems at the property which were potentially causing damage, as someone who has been a landlady I made a mental note to never use them. When we moved out, we spent 2 days cleaning it when it was empty, carpets all cleaned everything done and for some reason they want to replace the upstairs carpet which belong...

Not prepared to help, they have done nothing to help us, just don;t want others to have to experience their shoddy service.

I suspect you may now be out of time to raise a dispute with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (I believe there is a 3 month limit to bringing a claim) , this should be you first port of call if possible. You're only recourse would be court action but this costs - a Judge would take a dim view of retaining the whole deposit and if they have deliberately delayed so that you don't have the protection of the Tenancy Deposit Scheme that would also not look good. DO CHECK YOUR DEPOSIT HAS BEEN REGISTERED....

I have been using Tennens for over 12 months and have nothing but praise. They have found me numerous tenants and most have been USAF personnel. As far as I\'m concerned they are an efficient, courteous and well run agency....

Barry had gone by the time I used Tennens. What a fabulous bunch of people. Friendly staff who bent over backwards to help. Got my tenancy very quickly and efficiently. I would use this new team any day of the week (except Sunday, when they are closed). Superb bunch, well done....

Please do not use this agent. They over value to such and extent that my property and other landlords are left empty with no interest. BARRY TENNENS overvalues your property to get your business, delivers very little, has a very basic knowledge of the legalities and paperwork, the Usaf claims are bogus - there are not loads of Usaf looking at properties. If you approach then directly they will tell you they have an excess if property available with private landlords they deal with directly!...

This shows how much impact we have made in Bury St Edmunds, since we opened the doors to trade just over a year ago, that other agents are that worried about us, they have to put us down. We have let more houses to USAF than any other agents in Town, we are NUMBER ONE on RIGHTMOVE with available properties in Town, and would be happy to give LANDLORDS as references to our service . 80 % of our business is to USAF so we have a very good understanding on what they require and get recommended to....

View all comments (3) Barry read the title of this it says landlord of 15 properties not agent of 15 branches but that was always your problem you never read anything properly , listen or react , you just keep bumbling along up setting professional landlords and tenants alike. Wake up try getting your ARLA why have you not ? We all know why not ?

Nightmare company from start to finish, I would never deal with them again they always had an excuse each time they made an error, and were more than happy to try and sell more services or promote properties but then unable to deliver on any of their major services. Do not use them go to one that is ARLA registered where you ave professional transparency....

From moving in we had major issues with condensation in two bedrooms which were unuseable for over 6 weeks, we then had issues with a ground floor WC which flooded the toilet and the floor. The upstairs WC flooded the bathroom again causing issues and non use. This repeated again twice and when speaking to the agents replied can my partner not use it and use the others. They could of talked to us without us chasing every issues we had, the response was frustrating and non excistant. Ending the lease early with instant deposit return and moving out costs would of been fair. The house is spotless due to the way we live so there is no cause for any property damage.

This agent is awful the comment above is absolutely correct, they fail miserably on most things they promise to Uphold on their initial sales pitch to either tenant or landlord. I have had first hand experience dealings with them as a landlord they let down me down on all occasions where their full management I was paying for should have made life easier, instead the lack of communication and service caused more confusion so I had to deal withthe problems directly. In the end my tenant was also ....

View all comments (2) Awful company we had nothing but stress dealing with them, I would use the word cowboy outfit as they failed to fulfil most of the main expectations that you have when paying for a service. We paid and got very little in return other than stress and incompetence.

Awful company not ARLA registered so beware they have no professional structures but in place or training and as a result they make multiple errors that cause major inconvenience to landlords such as failing to cut a full set of keys so workman can enter, lack of basic communication, delayed rental payments citing bureaucracy errors as an excuse, and general all round incompetence when dealing with a property that is supposed to be fully managed...

Had proper trained and qualified staff and made the standards to be an ARLA member And actually delivered on their advertised full management services rather than left the mess and errors for the landlord to identify and manage at extra cost.
