    We put our property on the market, with Spicer Mcoll on the 4th of April 2011,with the Benfleet branch. We have never met such a bunch of unprofessional people.We signed an agreement for 16 weeks, and were told we would have a fee of £180 to pay if we broke the 16 week agreement, after a totally disgusting service all round, having a buyer and then being told by ANOTHER estate agent that our buyers had decided to buy another property, we told Spicer Mcoll on the 31st of October to remove our property from the market.     Could not tell the same version of the same sequence of events twice. Then said it was my wife who was making "untrue" comments.

    Tried scaremongering tactics on my wife in an attempt to complete a sale we were not happy with.

    Also tried bluffing us into agreeing the sale by making factually incorrect comments about finances. Sadly for them and lucky for us we are both qualified accountants and saw straight through this nonsense.

    They were repeatedly asked not to speak to my wife, but me (After my wife got fed up of dealing with them), consistently ignored this request.

    Other than the initial valuation process which was very good, we have no further positives.

    We served notice, but was never asked why we were not happy, clearly do not care. The overall rating given on this site pretty much says it all. Wish we had found it before we signed up.

    Terrible customer service. They never inform you of anything, they don't do their job. We had to arrange everything ourselves. They couldn't even manage to make the necessary calls. The only time they worked was when we stood by their side and requested to do this and that.
    I am appaled to see this kind of service. I have never ever had worse service provided to me. After reading reviews I see that this behavior is in all brances not just this one. Do they only emply incommpetent people?

    Very professional and pleasant valuation, but we chose not to use them in favour of another local estate agent. Since that time they have left message after message on my answer phones, requesting call backs, plus I received two email surveys from them. The sale on my property is now fully completed, and yet the calls keep coming.

    Really I can't help but think that this is where their resources are directed - ie to generate new business, rather than to sell property.

    I have never come across such a bunch of dishonest individuals in my life. the manager at the Braintree branch lied to me again and again. I think these guys lie so much they don't know what is a lie and what is not.

    I am reporting them to the OFT as they do not follow correct legal procedures and would never use them to sell a property. This industry maybe just attracts them.

    Highly recommended. Couldn't fault Gero or his staff for their professional approach. Always helpful, returned calls and kept me fully informed. Plenty of interest and viewings, which they did mainly while I was out at work. Sensible and honest negotiating. Totally trustworthy and would definitely recommend this branch to anyone. So glad that I went with my instinct and chose the agent I thought I'd be able to trust and work best with.

    Recently "tried" to sell a property through them. Told they had sold it within 15 minutes of giving to them!!. Signed paperwork and then the "buyer" pulled out (miraculously). Then waited weeks nothing! Put on with another agent and they sold within a short period. Spicer now charged us for advertising, etc. We are not happy and feel we were misled. Please do not use this branch as they cannot be trusted. Just when we thought Estate Agents are getting better this proves that some (not all) are still untrustworthy. Not a good experience with this company. I hope there are some more trustworthy branches in the group because if this is done across the company it won't take long for the public to realise!

    Awful service - staff appear very friendly to start with, and say what you want to hear, but don't actually do what they promise. Things got so bad that our buyer had to contact us directly, and we are now sorting out the rest of the sale ourselves.

    Our buyer was also told that we were indifferent about the sale going ahead, even though we had already found a house we had an offer accepted on with Spicers sister company, Haart.     Appaling. Staff at the Ipswich branch seem determined to live up to all the "bad estate agent" cliches.

    They never return calls. By this I mean NEVER. Phones in their office are incoming calls only.

    They make no effort to keep up to date with the sales process. They won't contact the buyer, or the other professionals invlolved (surveyors solicitors etc). Use Spicer Mccoll to sell your house and you can wave goodbye to all your free time because you will be looking after the sales progression yourself.

    They will miss represent their fees at the sign up claiming to charge a commision of the sale price, but then after twisting your arm to accept a lower offer, mysteriously their percentage commision transforms into a fixed fee.

    Avoid at all costs, an absolute shower.

    Terrible customer service at the Braintree & Colchester branch. Yes the staff are friendly but they never return a call always in another call or in a meeting or out of the office. Have had 2 mortgage brokers and estate agents with them in approx 7 months total with no notification that anyone was or would be leaving... Surely all of the staff leaving speaks for itself!! Seems as though you get lots of help finding a propery but once you have found one and they have taken your cash thats it your on your own!! To date we have done all of the chasing up and it is proving to be very hard work and very tiring to to get anywherel with them. I would never use them again nor would I recommend anyone to use them unless you like a lot of stress especially for a no chain purchase!

    Terrible customer service at the Colchester branch. Friendly staff, but they never return a call and you will have to do all the leg-work. Utterly depressing and distressing experience. Would never use them again nor would I recommend anyone to use them....unless they want to be kept in the dark and waste 16 weeks of their precious selling time before they can sign up with a different estate agent.

    Office manager has never returned 3 messages I have left for him more than 3 weeks ago. I have to chase them up all the time. No feedback after the 2 viewings they have found for me in 5 weeks. Was lied to about customers dying to view my property from London...they have vanished. Was not told about 16 week contract or that VAT was on top of
