We have dealt with agents for many years. I found the team at Spencers City Office to be very proactive and extremely competent, offering an exemplary service compared to all the others. We would happily continue to offer them our properties and recommend them to others.

Epic fail. Fees are astronomical. Had so much trouble with the agents, some of my housemates were from Europe (ie, not English as first language), and did not understand all the terms, when we asked, the agents treated us like scum. When the contract ran out after 12 months, and we asked to have 2 new people on the new contract when others moved out, they acted as if it was a massive inconvenience to them.
We also requested to speak to the landlady, as we wanted to paint some of the flaking walls, after about 5 premium number phone calls going in circles with Glenmead , we were told that they cannot give her number out, but were not willing to contact her on our behalf.
Then by chance, the neighbours gave us the landlady's number anyway, and we dealt with her directly, and she was more than willing to pay for paint if we painted the walls ourselves.
They also left a massive 'For Rent' sign in our front yard and my one house mate was verbally told we were not allowed to remove it as it was their property, and removing it would be destruction of their property.

There fees are very big for a start. They're very nice in the first instance, but once I signed the contract they became the most useless bunch of timewasters I've ever come accross. The main issue I had is the repair company which trades under the name glenmead. They pretty much refuse to fix anything thats not a white good. eg, Fridge, cooker etc. They say they'll do it and nothing ever happens.

Their fees are the highest I have ever come across and total to almost £300 to move into a 1-bed flat. Their contract has a clause written to allow access without prior notice or consent within the last 2 months of the tenancy to show your flat to prospective new tenants. They use this clause a lot when you are about to move out, and the only notice you get is IF they knock on the door before letting themselves in.

I too come across similar problems with them. Their charges are too high. agents are bit arrogant. Once you sign the contract they don't give any response to your calls. They charged me for third party inventory check has not done any. I have put an offer on property based on condition to change the carpet. They said its been done. I trusted them and signed the contract. But it was not changed. They always say they will get it done. But they never done anything.
I strongly suggest to 'AVOID' them
