Tenant Network has been established in the Portsmouth and Southsea area since 2006 we have fast become the leading agent in the area with 2 branches and we are now managing 500 properties and letting many others on an introduction only basis. From August 2011 due to our huge success we are opening a new flagship branch on Landport Terrace Southsea.

I rented a property with 6 friends during our 2nd year at University. When we viewed our house we were told that it would be left in a clean and habitable state for us to move into in September 2010. The current tenants warned us that the downstairs bathroom didn't work, but the agents assured us that it would be getting fixed within the next week or so and would therefore be in full working order ready for us to move in.

When we moved in it soon became evident that they had lied to us. The house was in a disgusting condition, the skirting boards were black with dust and dirt, the bathrooms were filthy and the kitchen required hours of elbow grease before it could be considered remotely safe to cook in. Not to mention the HORRENDOUS damp, and the 'UNSAFE' notice on the gas boiler that had miraculously appeared before we moved in. We also found mouse holes, and a number of other problems. Fortunately we documented all of these upon moving in, and made a list to take to the agents (as we had been told to do if there was a problem).

Not to mention that they didn't ask us to sign a contract - but this turns out that it was because they had photocopied the signatures we signed on the RETAINER for the house and stapled them to the back of a default contract that we had not been given to read!

Whenever there was a problem we would go straight to the agents and inform them, asking for it to be seen to. On more than one occurrence we were told that we should not tell them about any maintenance problems as 'we just let the properties' - and were told to contact our 'landlord' (Kam Patel) directly. The final straw was when the toilet in the basement (the one that we had been reassured had been repaired!) started to overflow with raw sewage - we immediately went into the office to ask them to deal with it immediately as it was a health and safety issue and the 2 staff members listed above LAUGHED at us and basically said that it wasn't their problem. Frankly you could get better customer service from untrained monkeys than those two.

The saga continued throughout the year, each time leaving us less and less impressed with the service we received - we had to get the city council involved, and even then it took long enough for our 'landlord' to sort things out.

I say 'landlord' because, at the end of the year, it suddenly emerged that our landlord did not own our house - instead he managed over 200 properties which he let through Tenant Network on behalf of his relatives. They tried to use this guise to take our deposit - even though we made sure to leave the house spotless (a far cry from the state that we found it in!) and had not damaged a thing. Thankfully we argued our case and received our money back, but it really was the final straw.

In short, I would choose to live on the street in a cardboard box rather than using this agency again and would urge any prospective landlords or tenants to look elsewhere as I have heard nothing but bad things from other students who have rented from them. NEVER AGAIN!
This person would not use Tenant Network again.

DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY. I was a student tenant with them in 2010-2011, and I have never experienced such appalling service anywhere in all my life. Dominic and Chris are the two negotiators, and were extremely rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. Our house was in an appalling state when we moved in, and they said it was down to us to clean it, despite the previous tenants being charged out of their deposit for a cleaning fee. When we moved out they tried to charge us a fee much higher than that stated in the contract, and tried to keep our entire deposit for issues that were present when we moved in, for which we had photo evidence which they refused to review.

Overall they are money grabbing, and do not care a button about you once you have signed the contract. All they want is your money, and despite seeming wonderful when you are looking at properties, they quickly turn sour once you have signed the dotted line. Please, do not use them. They do not deserve to be in business.
This person would not use Tenant Network again.

Upon first meeting Tenant Network I was introduced to Richard Smillie and found his company services to be of the highest quality in full management and have nothing but praise on the way they conduct themselves . This is why they are so successful, fast thinking and there strap line advertising ( we think outside the box) is very appropriate.
This person would use Tenant Network again.

Names Paul Cox aquired a tenancy with tenant network, via real lettings on 13/02/2012 @£137.70 pr, wk. Market rent of £500+ per month you would expect the basics at least. Agent was aware from day one that lights in two main rooms of flat were not working. Now 28/03/2012, problem still not rectified. I will now withold rent and demand fair compensation.
This person would not use Tenant Network again.

I was very impresssed with the customer service at the Southsea office. I dont drive and work long hours which makes viewings difficult to arrange. When I called up to arrange to see some properties with Tenant Network they agreed to pick me up from work and show me the properties and then the negotiator dropped me home. In the end I did not rent a property with Tenant Network because I found something through a friend of mine but the next time I move I will definitely use them as they made a lot ofeffort to go out of their way to help me and made me feel important.
This person would use Tenant Network again.

Professional and Efficient is how how I would descibe the service. I have recently inherited a property and was unsure whether to sell it or rent it out. After much deliberation I contacted several letting agents and after meeting the representative from Tenant Network I was fully informed on the rental market and all of their services. Being a landlord for the first time I opted for the fully managed service and it has proved to be a great choice as they take care of everything for me. I couldn't be happier!
This person would use Tenant Network again.

My deposit has just been returned in full! I have lived in my flat for 2 years and have always been careful not to damage anything. I am very clean anyway but when I recently moved out of my flat I made sure I gave it a really good clean. From speaking to others getting your deposit refunded in full is somewhat difficult with other letting agents in the area but I can safely say that the inventory clerk was wonderful and made a report showing that there were only some signs of fair wear and tear and within 7 days of the report being made I had my money back! It was very much appreciated and I would like to say that Tenant Network always looked after me throughout my tenancy so I would recommend to all!
This person would use Tenant Network again.

This has got to be the worst company I have EVER dealt with, when you sign the contract with them please make sure you initial every page of the contract as they agreed different terms with us than they put in the contract, and never gave us a contract on the sign up day!!!! Please also photograph the house at the begin and end of you agreement as they will try and charge you for anything. I would NEVER use this company again!!!!!!
Also when the microwave broke we tried getting it fixed and they told us that it wasn't the landlords so they would not fix it, even though it was on the inventory.
This person would not use Tenant Network again.

NEVER EVER go with tenant network. if there was an option for half a star they wouldnt even get that. they take a big admin fee off you which does nothing except go in their pockets. the property had changed from the time i had viewed it to when it was given to me and tenant network took no responsibility for it and were not willing to help even after a lot of hassling. they just said its a letting property and i need to speak to the landlord. the agents there lie to you by promising certain things will be in the house just to make you sign the contract and when you confront them about the lies they just say its not their fault. Its like buying a car with alloy wheels and a body kit and once you get the car the wheels have been changed to spacesaver wheels with no body kit and a dent in the front bumper. Overall they are a bunch of liars and would not recommend to anybody even if they are homeless.
This person would not use Tenant Network again.

Keep away from these con artist, the staff have no idea whats going on, they are very rude, they charge you arm and a leg for repairs and when you ask for a invoive they can't get it. rent never gets paid on time!!! sometimes even 2 months late!!! people in managment always being changed, so you deal with new people every month!!

i gave them my house to let, when i got it back it trashed by the tenants, 2 months on still no money from the deposit, it cost me £3,000 to put everything right again!!
This person would not use Tenant Network again.

I got my accomodation through Tenant Network this year after being recommended by my brother that got his the previous year, mine and my friends experience was of excellent standard and I definitely wouldnt hesitate in recommending their services to friends and family in the future. We had an appointment to see 5 properties, on arrival at the Southsea office we found that everything was in place for us to proceed straight to our destinations. We were with the agent for well over an hour and eventually chose our place which we are living in now. We are first year students so will need another property next year, my first point of call will be Tenant Network for sure. Thank you for your help this year :)
This person would use Tenant Network again.

On the contary to the previous review I found the service to be good. I am also a student and felt valued by Tenant Network, they have a lot of student accomodation and were really busy when I went to the office with my housemates but the guy that dealt with us was really helpful and spent a lot of time with us until we found the right property. Any way ignore that last review loads of my mates have got their accomodation with TN with no probs.
This person would use Tenant Network again.

Absolutely terrible service. When looking for student accomodation earlier this year, tenant network was the first place my friends and I looked, as the property itself and all the staff looked easy-going and friendly, just the thing 4 nervous students needed when deciding on a house to rent for an entire year! Sadly, the service was a shocking dissapointment from my first impressions. The estate agent who dealt with us extremely uninterested in making us feel valued as customers, in fact while we were talking to him about what we were looking for, another estate agent came in the door and went on to talk and flirt with our guy for at least 5 minutes while we all just sat around the table in an uncomfortable silence. I found this to be extremely unprofessional. He then proceeded to try and talk us totally out of the areas we wanted to visit saying there were no longer any available for us, even though we could clearly see there were still lots left. He then proceed to drive us round to the undesired locations at breakneck speed in his car, trying to get us to all 4 houses as quickly as he could. Half way though the tour of houses, he then proceeded just to drive us back to the tenant network building, we all got out of the car without even mentioning the last two properties and told us to come back if we wanted any of the places, and then went back inside, leaving us all standing on the pavement outside gobsmacked. I just left with the feeling that if we hadn't been students we would have been treated with a great deal more respect, even though at the end of the day, we are still paying customers, and I thought that was a great great shame. 0 out of ten from me. I've never been treated as such a second class citizen in all my life.
This person would not use Tenant Network again.

Thumbs up to Tenant Network I have had my properties with them for over 3 years on a fully managed basis and always find the staff very friendly & helpful. I have recommended a couple of my friends to use Tenant Network to let out their properties and can report they have had positive experiences aswell. I came through to this site out of interest and read through so many negative comments about other letting agencies and when searching for my agent found that they had no comments at all. I took this to be a good sign as in general people normally use these forums to highlight poor service or leave negative feedback.I have taken the time to write a good review and hope this helps other landlords/tenants make an informed decision when choosing a letting agent.
This person would use Tenant Network again.
