I left my house to be managed and rented out by Re/Max.The agent rented out my property but never paid the deposit or rent into my account for 6 months. By the time i found out about after debt chase / court letters from my mortgage supplier i chased them up and within 4 months disappeared. I will never see that money again.

I was a tenant in a property within Cumbernauld under the supervision of LOUISE MAXWELL. I wouldn't even let my WORST enemy deal with this woman. She is rude, lawless, ill-educated, sarcastic, careless and money grabbing. She does not carry out the proper checks on properties/landlords prior to tenants moving in, she does not give you the appropriate paperwork and she is disinterested in anything that will make her job even the slightest bit difficult. During a SIX MONTH rental we encountered the following issues which LOUISE MAXWELL FAILED TO DEAL WITH:
*Landlady unregistered for 4 months
*No cover in place for boiler maintenance
*No schedule of condition or inventory given
*Left us with no heating and hot water for 21 days (during -20 temperatures outside)
*Left us with no water for a further 2 days when pipes froze
*Made appointments for engineers to come to the house that never existed
*When we raised problems with property no interest shown towards rectifying these
*Refused to respond to any calls/texts/letters from us
*Threatened to keep our deposit for damages already in property when we moved in
*Accused us of having pets in the house when we never
*Refused to deal with our lawyer we had to get to deal with her threats
*Harassed us monthly saying our rent wasn't in their bank (when it was)
*Kept our deposit illegally at end of our lease
*Did not show to collect keys at end of our lease
*Kept our deposit for items/works carried out we did not agree to and closed our file
*Refused to co-operate with Head of Remax Scotland Mary Percy regarding my case

This is only some of the issues we encountered on a daily basis over a 6 month lease. This almost ruined my career and my relationship due to the stress and illness this put me under. Remax are still disputing all of the claims I have put up in my review, however I have proof of all of these issues and am pursuing further the return of my deposit and compensation for my lawyers fees, inconvenience at using days of my holidays etc from Small Claims Court.

HONESTLY - DO NOT USE THIS WOMAN'S SERVICES, DO NOT TRUST HER, DO NOT TOUCH HER WITH A 10 FOOT POLE SHE IS POISON AND SHE WILL RIP YOU OFF MERCILESSLY.
This person would not use RE/MAX again.

I could not reccommend Remax Coatbridge enough, I got 3 estate agents out from Coatbridge to talk though selling me home, Remax was slightly more expensive than the rest but I feel the money was well worth it ( I beleive you get what you pay for). He was extremely professional and was very thoughtful when booking viewings for my property, making sure it was'nt to late in the evening for my kids bed time. He made no promise's when he would have it sold or how much I would achieve for it, he was very realistic and said as it was so close to xmas things might be slow but he had a few potential clients he had that may have been interested. After just a few weeks and a few viewing my property was sold. He always returned my calls and updated me when I asked.
This person would use RE/MAX again.

Firstly if you are thinking about using Remax in Airdrie or Coatbridge, I would advise against it. Unless, your idea of a good estate agent is someone who will provide you with a poor service and rip you off in the process. If that's what you are looking for, then Remax is for you.

Some reasons and history about my experience with these people. I had put in my notice to cancel my contract with Remax for a number of reasons. Mainly cost, failed promises, lack of attention to detail and extremely poor customer service from Lisa in the Airdrie office. Poor to say the least.

After doing a lot of work to make my flat more appealing to a potential buyer, I got a viewer just as my notice was about to be complete. Fortunately due to some mix up, I showed the viewer around the flat myself and an offer was put in. I was informed by Mark of the offer which I refused as it was under the price I wanted. His response to my refusal was 'that's ridiculous'. And here was me thinking he was working for me. I refused the offer and within a few hours the price I was looking for was offered. hmmm. Thanks for nothing Mark. I was originally with the Coatbridge office but then my details moved to Airdrie.

The cost for selling, £1000 all in. This amount was including VAT. Not £1000 plus VAT. I was charged, yep, you guessed it, £1200. Remember you will also be charged for marketing fees and home report on top of this.

ReMax are not interested in you at all. If effort is involved then its time to ignore you and hope you give up. I waited all day for Lisa to return a call based on the wrong charge. 6 hours later and I called back. No answer. I called again. No answer. I called again, no answer. I got my partner to call from a different number and she got straight throw. Number recognition? Poor poor service. The response was that my contract was at Coatbridge. This would have taken a minute to call me and tell me this. grrr.

I sent in a letter of complaint. Their response was they had done nothing wrong, the fee was correct and as my solicitor had paid it, they felt again they had no complaint to answer. Well Remax. You do.

I have taken this to the property ombudsman and would highly recommend you use someone else who will provide a professional, value for money service and most importantly an honest service.
This person would not use RE/MAX again.

My experience with this agency was lousy, do NOT use this agency. In 4 months of being on the market I had no viewers at all and barely any communication to explain why. In total I had 2 telephone calls from the agent (after I asked him to call me) and that was back in April. I complained about the service levels - heard nothing. They clearly do not have a robust marketing programme, relying heavily on RightMove (who did send me web stats regularly). It took ten weeks for the Remax publication to go out and even then it's debatable what marketing push it had. Head Office told me they were about to embark on a big radio campaign. Haven't heard a thing. I don't know if they are struggling or not but they are so ineffective it's incredible. I had far more constructive communication from a competing estate agency within the same period than I did Remax. I sorely regret going with Remax.
This person would not use RE/MAX again.

I'm am absolutely appalled at the service we received from this company. They are a disgrace to their profession, no wonder Estate Agents get a bad press when there are companies like this around.

We found out by the couple who bought our property that they wanted to buy it the previous year but the agent had told them they could get them a better deal on another property. The couple did not pursue our house as they were so disgusted with the agent for doing this and wanted no dealings with them. How is that selling our house??

These people then take a huge sum of money when the property is finally sold for doing.... what exactly? Putting our photo in their window and waiting for people to contact them. And to top it all off, we had to leave the property whenever there was a viewer as the agent "didn't feel comfortable when we were in the house". How ridiculous is that?

Whenever we called the agent it was like we were bothering them and was told on one occasion that "we will contact you if anyone is interested" quite abruptly. We also found out when the price was agreed that the survey that was initially done by a company that Remax uses was absolutely worthless as the lenders did not recognise the company as belonging to any official body, so we then had to get another survey done by a company with 4 weeks to go till the sale date. Remax knew this company was not recognised, why did they use them ?? I suspect they have some kind of deal with this company and are just fulfilling they're legal obligations to provide a survey. We feel utterly cheated and ripped off by someone who told us they would sell our house and that they were working for the best outcome for us.

I would absolutely NOT recommend this company to anyone and will certainly be warning anyone we know in the future NEVER to use Remax.
This person would not use RE/MAX again.

I was very happy with their service. I have heard people say that all estate agents are the same. I had a difficult sale because of the recession, buyers pulling out, long chain etc, but my agent was great. I would recommend to everyone, find a good estate agent and stick with them. The comments from muchhappier are unjust.Compared to the amount of offices and agents worldwide, the amount of complaints are minuscule. Even the largest, best companies in the world receive bad press from time to time. Remax, you have my thumbs up.
This person would use RE/MAX again.

I was searching for the name of Remax's Director when I came across this thread. The reason I was searching for her was because I wanted to relay the excellent experience I had with Remax Whitley Bay. I was recommended my estate agent by a friend and was apprehensive because of their lack of office on the High St. I decided to give them a go and I'm glad I did. We had possibly the most proactive estate agent ever. Just brilliant at keeping constantly in touch ( even when sometimes there was nothing to tell us) and we sold really quickly.
I am not really one to write a review unless it's a really good one - but I feel the need to do this as a warning to others.

I have been completely abused and misled by Remax. My property (a one bed flat in the centre of Dunfermline) has been on the market since June 2008. The first estate agent I was allocated, SP, came to my home to see me and talk through the contract etc. He was pleasant, sounded like he knew what he was talking about and said it would be on the website the very next day - a done deal! After trying to find out if there were any viewings (which there hadn't been) I didn't actually have any contact from him until Dec 08, when he told me that someone had put in an offer - great! I accepted there and then, thank goodness it was off my hands! But it was not to be - after a serious lack of communication, I was informed the buyer had 'vanished' - they couldn't get in contact with them, nothing.

So back to square one. I regularly tried to call him, email him etc but never received a reply, the only reason I knew he was receiving the contact was because I was dropping the price, and noticed the change on the website - there was never a reply. After many more months of no contact I complained to the head office. I spoke with the PA, to the president who was really helpful, then received an email from Mary Percy to say that the whole matter was being looked into. On holiday, Aug 09, I received a call from a different agent, SD, to say SP had been asked to leave the company, due to many customer complaints and he'd be taking over the sale of the flat. I met up with him at the property a week later and he was very honest and told me that it'd be a good idea to redecorate - he then felt he could sell it once it was given a lick of paint (it had been on the market for over a year - with no one living there so it was needing it). Due to a lack of funding, I had to do it a little at a time, but by November 2009, the whole place was redecorated, with new flooring and carpets, new kitchen worktops etc. I called SD to let him know it was now ready to view, for him to tell me he was leaving - great!

So I was appointed a third agent, AC. From the very beginning, her communication was poor, and she was taking investors into the property, but coming back to me with
This person would not use RE/MAX again.

I checked with the guys I know and all have been trained and passed an exam to be an Estate Agent. I called two solicitors firms and was told that they have people who have been doing the job for ages and know all they need to know!

I have been buying and selling homes for years and now always use Remax if I can. These guys have put nearly 10k in to it and so at least they try and sell homes and not just wait for a buyer like every up themselves solicitor I have had the misfortune to come up against.

I think the guys at RE/MAX do a brilliant job. The agents I dealt with were registered with the NAEA and also with the ombudsmen scheme.

I was surprised to see some bad reviews and I am a bit suspicious as to their origin, are they other agents perhaps. They are part of the biggest selling estate agency network in the world so that told me something they know how to sell houses.

I was treated with respect and always kept informed. But I suppose it is like anything in life you can always come across someone who does not give great service whether they are with RE/MAX or any other company, but at least these guys have the guts to work for themselves and invest their own money in selling my home.

The team i dealt with in Port Talbot were amazing, friendly and they were always glad to see me. And these guys work with a local charity giving over some of their commissions to help the less fortunate.

I don't normally feel inclined to write a review but I felt it necessary to balance out the negative ones I saw.
