Myself and partner rented a property in LEEDS with the manchester branch of this company.

We should have realised what a disaster this was going to be when they made us travel to manchester to pick up the keys on moving day and then provided us with no fobs.

When we arrived at the property we found that none of the security gates worked and none of the secure doors actually locked securly. One of the lifts didnt work for our entire stay (6months) even though we were told it was due to be fixed. Come to think about it we never actually recieved our fobs.

The building we later found was full of people who were smoking what smelt like weed constantly. The flat near us on the forth floor got broken into in the middle of the day (so much for a security team on site).

The water was cut off for 3 days, fair enough they let us know and they provided portaloos and showers (in the courtyard) HOWEVER the hot water wasnt on in the morning so you had to shower in freezing cold water. They provided bottled water by placing it outside of each flat. Some wonderful person stole ours, when we went to security to ask they simply said 'oh it must have been stolen theres nothing we can do' UMMM hello its your legal obligation to provide drinking water.

The list of problems goes on and on. We moved out mid december and are still awaiting our deposit which no contact from them regards when we will be getting it and countless promises of calls back.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

For over 2 weeks I have been trying to view a property in Liverpool City centre with this company after already viewing one property when the agent was 45mins late.
I have never had a call back regarding the new property and when I finally chased them I was spoken to in the most disgusting way by both the manager and below.
I have never been spoken to in such a rude manner and then told that I am not a tennant they would like.
What rubbish i have been an outstanding tennent in the past and only looking for a new property due to relocation.
LANDLORDS BE AWARE IF YOU WANT YOU PROPRTY MARKETED AND ALLOWED VIEWINGS BY GENUINE GOOD TENNENTS THEN STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I will most certainly go out of my way now to raise this complaint further and contact the landlord directly.
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

Total scammers.
the government should have a STAR for the letting agents like the hotel have stars.
Also by law they should have a review from tenants and landloards, so everyone who wants to rent or rent their place out through the agents can find out about their services and how they run it.

This estate agent is the single worst one I've ever come across, and I've had troubles with other agents before.

Problem 1: We told them the intercom was broken the *day* we moved in, still not fixed 8 months later. I even know what's wrong - but can't get them to bloody fix it.

Problem 2: The flat was filthy when we moved in; Mould growing on windows, carpet black with dust.

Problem 3: 6 Month tenancies - Don't be fooled, this is just so they can charge you an extra
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

"I would feel bad if this was our fault but it isn't"

To warn you, this is going to be quite long!!
My flatmate and I moved into a flat managed by Isaac Anthony around October 2009. The woman who showed us around the flat was very nice and helpful but unfortunately once you have signed the lease you receive a very different service.

Our first problems included a broken washing machine which on the inventory was listed as in perfect condition (the handle was missing and the cable had been chewed through by animals) so it was clear no one had had a very good look around. Our balcony was covered in dead plants which were left there from a previous tenant and not moved. The washing machine took around 3 weeks to solve.
The first thing to take note of is that Isaac Anthony will NEVER call or email back, they'll only ever get in contact with you if they want something. On the first week my flatmate decided to take a bath in the main bathroom, the plug got caught and the water would not drain. We called Isaac Anthony who didn't send anyone round for 2 weeks so we were stuck with dirty bath water for 2 weeks which is incredibly disgusting.

These problems were solved eventually but our main problem didn't come until around September 2010. We had been to renew our tenancy and had been advised that our landlord had declared himself bankrupt and that the property had now gone into receivership. We were advised that this was fine and not to worry about it and that basically our money would just get transferred to another company and that we needed to keep paying them as usual. Everything was fine until around November when we started receiving letters from a company called LSL stating that we needed to set up new standing orders to them (we were currently paying Isaac Anthony), we were quite worried about these letters so first of all my flatmate called Isaac Anthony and spoke to an advisor there who advised that he would get in contact with the receivers and see what the letters were about and call us back. We knew better than to believe that we would actually receive a call back by this point so I called the next day and spoke to the same advisor (he told me that he was dealing with it) and that everything would be fine and that he would call us back. We waited another week or 2 and we still hadn't received a call back so my flatmate calls them again because we were getting very worried about the letters at this point. A different advisor at Isaac Anthony tells us to bring in the letters, by this time it's almost Christmas. My flatmate is advised to bring the letters in that Friday but he can't so he comes in on the Saturday instead, the letters are photocopied by someone behind the desk and looked at so we assume that everything is fine and we go home for Christmas.
We get back from Christmas around the first week of January, we haven't received any more letters so we assume everything is fine and that Isaac Anthony have done their job. A week goes by and I receive a frantic answer phone message from my flatmate who has come back from work to find that there is a leaflet sellotaped to the door saying that the locks have been changed and a giving us a number to call. We call the number which then tells us it's out of office hours. We are panicking by this point so we call the Isaac Anthony emergency number - WHICH GOES TO VOICEMAIL! So we are locked out of our flat and luckily we had somewhere to stay but we had no access to our things and had to take the next day off work to try and sort it out.

We spoke to LSL the next morning who advised that they hadn't received any payment from Isaac Anthony and no one had contacted them to tell them that we even lived there. We managed to get new keys and pick them up from Reeds Rains who were our new letting agents and made our way over to the Manchester office. Once we were there we demanded to speak to someone about what had happened and we explained everything. The lady that we spoke to seemed shocked but wasn't apologetic at all. She was the same person who had told us to bring the letters in on the Friday. She phoned LSL and found out that they weren't even our letting agents anymore and advised us that they didn't even know that LSL existed, we told her that we had made numerous phone calls and bought the letters in which were photocopied. She advised that she had never seen any letters and made out that it was our fault for bringing them in on the Saturday instead of the Friday... by this point we were very angry/upset, the letters had been photocopied by someone else behind the desk so someone had seen them and we had mentioned the LSL by name twice over the phone.
Basically the lady that we spoke to was incredibly unapologetic and arrogant. She actually said '
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

My boyfriend and I are first -time renters and when we viewed that flat we're in now we were amazed at how nice it was, and how nice the people at Issac Anthony are.

Problem 1 - The flat is on the third floor (six flights) and lift is broken. Because IA own the flat and not the building, it apparently is not thier problem, and we are not allowed a rent reduction until the lift is fixed. It's been broken since before we viewed the flat, and we're not hopeful of it being fixed in the next year, never mind the next few months. Try carrying heavy furniture up 6 flights of stairs on moving day.

Problem 2- When we went round the flat taking pictures of marks, broken things etc, we noticed bird facaes almost everywhere. Pets and birds are not allowed in this flat, but when viewing the flat we saw that the previous tenants had parrots. So we had parrot poo all over our cupboard door handles, doors, skirting boards, dining room table, couch etc. Absolutely disgusting. We complained,. and the girl at IA said that she'd charged the previous tenants
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

We decided to give them a go as we had to move out of our previous house quick due to an awful student landlord and they seemed really helpful... big mistake.

Because we are students we had to fork out a large deposit for a guarantor, I have never had a problem with paying rent or with money so I can't see why I needed to get my mum involved.

We moved into our flat in January 2010 and we have never received a metre reading from them, so we have had to pay and remaining bills from the previous tenant. They claimed they couldn't get into the metre reading cupboard but it was unlocked the whole time, but it was only when E.On were sending us threating letters that we discovered this. We managed to get one reading from Key Properties as they rent out a lot of the flats here.

The code to get into the building changed a couple of weeks ago and they never bothered to tell us, what makes it even worse is that somebody from Isaac Anthony lives here so they know we needed the code!! Theres nothing worse than being stuck outside waiting for other people to let you in!

We had a problem with the washing machine, I reported it twice and nobody replied for a few days, so I decided to ring them. I explained that I thought it was something that was caught in the filter, however because of the design of the kitchen I wasn't sure how to get to the filter as there was wood blocking it. Instead of asking my landlord how to get to the filter they sent a plumber round who charged us
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

Simply terrible service once you are a tenant with them. We waited for 8 weeks for a fob to get into our building, meaning we were left stranded outside until we could tailgate in. Then they took the money out of our deposit for it. Took 4 months to fix a washing machine that was leaking and spoiling the floor! We're moving out soon, no doubt that will throw up endless amounts of trouble with the deposit... great!

Stay well away from Isaac Anthony lettings - a shambolic outfit who offered us nothing but a bad experience.

Even gaining the lease was problematic despite excellent credit history and both working for financial institutions - the problem came in that they never returned phonecalls and never acknowleged paperwork received.

I was at such a loose end, I even drove from Glasgow to Manchester just to hand in paperwork, despite sending two copies, they claim it never arrived!

Absolute useless. The emergency number they gave us, we had a water leak, was eventually returned 6 days after the emergency, needless to say we got our own engineer.

Where do I start?

LANDLORDS - PLEASE READ:

As a fellow Landlord, one our worst fears as a Buy to let owner is leaving your property in the hands of an incapable, shambolic, unregulated and clueless Managing Estate Agent. Isaac Anthony fit that awful description, in their words, unusually well.

I cannot begin to describe the frustration and absolutely terrible level of maladministration that I have suffered by their incompetent staff.

I have:
- Sent over 6 emails without reply
- Rang and left 8 messages without a callback (although promised)
- Complained to the two Company Directors with no response

Who runs this 'Organisation'?? The Circus??? I will - when I have more time - look at reporting Isaac Anthony to Trading Standards or a Govermental Fraud agency as they advertise all sorts of services, charge you for them and then deliver none. That is the truth, my experience is summarised below.

Isaac Anthony claimed to have 'managed' my property for nearly a year - a brand new apartment - handed back to me dirty, damaged and with umpteen faults. Not only did IA not notify me of the faults as and when they happened - they told the Tenant's 'they were dealing with them and the Landlord was being unco-operative!!!" - that is unbelievable - I'm paying these 'people' to 'manage' my property, they have contacted me twice in 12 months... and guess what for... taking more money from me! (Once for a tenancy renewal and once for an EPC).

They have now taken nearly 11 weeks to resolve a Deposit dispute - granted this goes to a third party - however, I have been chasing for an update for the last two weeks (calls and emails at the beginning of the review) - I've had no reply.

LANDLORDS & TENANTS - Please avoid if you want peace of mind, go to an established, well regarded agent, i.e. pay the extra if necessary.
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

I would only recommend this company to people who like to have their time wasted and to be ignored!

Everything about them was appalling right from the beginning. We were shown around a flat (renting) and made an offer there and then and were told we would be called within the hour to say if it had been accepted. 2 days later, we still hadn't heard anything and nobody would take our call. Eventually we managed to speak to someone who said our offer had been accepted straight away but the man who showed us round was sacked and nobody bothered to take over his work.

Then came the application forms... we sent these off as soon as we received them as we needed to move in within a month, which we had been told was fine. We heard absolutely nothing from Isaac Anthony after sending off our forms and again, could not get hold of anyone (just got a receptionist acting dumb saying that nobody was in to take our call and someone would call us back, which never ever happened). We had no idea if our applications had been approved and since we were moving 200 miles to a different city, we were getting very worried, especially as we both had new jobs that started 2 days after we were due to move in. Eventually, a few days before we needed to move in, we got a call saying everything had been approved, the woman acted really casually as if there was nothing wrong with leaving people in limbo like this.

On the day we moved in, we signed for 14 keys, 2 copies of every key needed (or so we thought). We had no back door key whatsoever, and half of the keys didn't work for any door within the property. We also only had 1 copy of keys for all the other doors and were told to copy and pay for these ourselves, even though in our contract it said we were not allowed to do this.

After 3 months of living there, our washing machine broke. It was another 4 months before we managed to actually get someone to look at it, and this was only after a threatening e-mail. Then it was another month and endless chasing before we managed to get it replaced.

We had been living at the property for 8 months before we managed to get them to cough up the back door key.

What was strange was how it was so difficult to get hold of anyone at Isaac Anthony, but if they needed you, they would bombard you with e-mails and phonecalls. It was 2 months before our contract expired (we had to give 30 days notice of renewal) and we were getting daily e-mails saying we needed to get in contact with them straight away to make sure all the paperwork was sorted. Needless to say we left it until the last minute to give them their answer.

They will often give you just 24 hours notice that they will be doing an inspection of your property, and they always make sure that this is done when you are at work. On our first inspection, they told us we had let our tiles get far to dirty and to clean them immediately (they were sparkling white, I had scrubbed the whole place especially for the visit). On our second inspection, they commented on a big stain on the bathroom floor (which was there before we even moved in, shows how observant they must be, luckily I took pictures of all faults when we moved in).

They have a maintenance man who has a key to all flats and lets himself in without knocking, once at 08:30am when we were in bed, to seal the shower screen in the bathroom, which did not need doing and we had not requested.

The only reason we stayed so long was because the flat was so cheap for it's location and it suited all our needs. We lived in constant fear of anything going wrong in the flat because we knew it would be a battle that lasted months to get anyone to do anything about it.

They promised no pets would be allowed in the building, however some had a dog that barked constantly and messed all over the grass and car park. The bins were rarely emptied, so often there was waste stacked up outside that got blown all over the car park.

I don't have a good word to say about this company and only wish I had thought to read their reviews before signing my contract.
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

Isaac Anthony are shamefully terrible at what they do.

We rented with them a year, during which time they failed to acknowledge any of our complaints and ignored all requests for maintenance or repairs.

They also blatantly break the tenancy laws. They refused our wishes to move onto a statutory period tenancy, and made us pay fees to continue to our lease.

After a year, they have now tried to raise the rent, despite the fact that larger flats in our building are listed for less on their own website.

They are crooks. Don't let with them! If there were a no star rating, I would have chosen that.

All the above seems to concur with my experience. I arranged to view a flat with them stating I had to move immediately and could not wait and when viewing the first place fortunately I overheard the agent asking the existing tenant when he would be moving out and it was not immediately as the agent had led me to believe. The agent then had the gall to insist it was available now thinking I hadn't heard him. Then for the next place, the agent-they are all as bad as each other at this agency-didn't reply to our offer or call back when they said they would so we went with another agency which by the sounds of the complaints on here we had a lucky escape from the awfulness that is Isaac Anthony.

Any prospective tenants or landlords you would do well to avoid this agency like the plague or you will only live to regret it. Estate agents like this are cowboys they may have high turn over but they are a perfect example of a "profession" which is crying out for government regulation. If you like dealing with inept and rude estate agents Isaac Anthony won't disppoint and contrary to their assertions they are unusually bad at what they do.
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

Seems to deliberately have provided wrong information to decieve me, the tennant.

1. The letting is a studio apartment with a pod containing bathroom, kitchen, boiler and washing machine. The letting agent told me the roof of the pod had been reinforced to provide storage space on top of it. It seems to be rather the oposite, the apartment manual clearly states that the roof of the pod is only MDF board.

2. The letting agent seems to deliberately have given me the wrong post code to prevent me from checking what tax band the apartment was in. When I asked for the tax band they said it was in band B and they even mentioned an amount. It turns out the tax band is not B but C.

When contacting them they only give me excuses and lies. The last mail even stated that they do not manage the apartment.

Horrible.

It seems they have taken advantage of that I am not from England and therefore do not fully understand how things work here.
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

Worst ever lettings agency. It took us 3 months to get a key for the mailbox, and thus, we were issued with warnings from the council tax department, with knowing it! (We are from Denmark, so we didn't know exactly how the system worked). They never return calls or emails. We are currently waiting to get our 775 pounds worth of deposit back (or at least just some of it!) but haven't heard from them since we moved out a month ago. I am genuinely amazed how they stay in business.. Everytime I see their slogan "unusually good at what we do" I feel like I'm gonna be sick. These people have caused us so much trouble, it's unbelievable.
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

Got to concur with NJ - shame on them indeed. Isaac Anthony are a disgrace to their profession, avoid them like the plague. They make up totally spurious reasons for withholding deposits and quote ludicrous fantasy figures for supposed cleaning costs. It takes an age to ever get through to them (on their premium rate number by the way - try 0161 828 3060 instead - why give them yet more undeserved revenue ?) and their response times to emails are erratic to say the least. A wholly immoral and shoddy organisation, by far the worst I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

What does this say about Isaac Anothny....

Poor service in the initial 6 months of contract with bothering to respond to maintenance requests. "Yeah I'll call you back, yes I'll ask the landlord to look into that"... phone call after phone call and getting nowhere.

Then comes the email asking if we wish to renew. Yes we do but not happy having to pay the sixty pound admin charge for doing so given the poor service we've had from you. Unwilling to offer any discount for their rubbish service so we're left over a barrel and have to pay or not able to renew.

The very next day we get an email from another letting agent in Manchester saying the property is going to be under their management as the landlord has chopped Isaac Anthony.

So Isaac Anthony took my sixty pounds when they knew they weren't going to be the agents. 1 phone call to them and they're unwilling to refund citing "you paid for the admin charge of renewing".

My advice is NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS ESTATE AGENTS!

We had problems from start to finish. We move out today and I just can't wait to see what they say when the come to 'inspect' the property. On that note, we've had a random women from Isaac Anthony just let herself into the property, once whilst I was in bed (I was a student!). The other time was breakfast on Saturday. Both times we received no prior warning leading me to believe that they wouldn't stop at being in the property when we were out. Disgraceful.

Of the countless problems, here are my favourites:
No blinds or curtains on ANY windows, including the bathroom!
No hot water on 4 separate occasions for up to 6 weeks at a time.
The kitchen doors cannot be opened when cooking as the heat detector outside the kitchen door sends the alarms off for the whole building (babies asleep means unhappy neighbours etc.)

The list could truly go on and then I would be late for work!

Isaac Anthony are nothing but useless, unprofessional, rude and untrustworthy and the fact they do not have a complaints department only suggests that they are either hiding or in denial.

They are a disgrace to Manchester, a disgrace to Estate Agents and a disgrace to themselves.

Shame on them.
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

Not the absolute worst possible service but they totally ignored getting me a microwave plate missing from the start throughout the 1 year I was there. The worst part came when they simply would not return my deposit no matter what even though they promise it within days of ending tennancy. Calls unanswered, unreturned, questions ignored. Continuous "early next week" promises even from director Anthony Boateng for weeks. The director purposefully hides his address on their accounts and doesn't display on the website who they actually are which is illegal.
Summary: Absolutely appalling service from start to finish. Seriously - don't go anywhere near them unless you crave dissapointment and enjoy being messed around or inconvienienced.

I don't know where to start - the little things frankly don't bother me any more, for example, when we first moved in it took three months before I gave up waiting and started fixing things in the flat myself.

I have rang them dozens of times over the last six months and nigh on every time the person i needed to speak to wasn't available and I got the stock answer "Do you want me to get them to phone you back?" - I haven't once received a return phone call.

When we first moved into the first flat there was a couple of issues, my "favourite" is that on the viewing and all the subsequent phone calls etc, we were promised that there was parking. But when we came to collect the keys - there was not. We were repeatedly told that there was nothing they could do, the member of staff had made a mistake. Because we just sat there and refused to move till it was sorted about an hour later they suddenly decided that they could give us a parking space for 6 months. They kept trying to remind us that it was free parking and that we should be grateful to them for doing this favour. Some how they missed the fact that the verbal agreement we had had previously with them included parking at the same rate of rent they were continuing to charge us, despite their mess up.

My latest experience however has pushed my impression of them to an unrecoverable depth. Despite their short comings I decided to continue with them for the next six months in a flat in the same building - I liked the building and wanted to stay.

I was told that they had such a flat and that the soon-to-be owners were just in the final stages of collecting the keys so in just a couple of days they would arrange a viewing for me and if I was happy I could move into that one. Naturally that day never came, despite the fact that i was repeatedly being told "its happening tomorrow", or "at the end of the week".

Naturally I was a bit concerned at this stage that in the current climate a lot of people have no money to do things like buy a house, so wanted to make sure that nothing was going to go wrong - I was assured that it was very close to completion so wouldn't be a problem and that should anything go wrong they would hapily let me stay in my current flat for a little bit longer.

I phoned them up about a week before we were due to move in and asked them where things were up to, a reasonably polite person on the other end said "but your not supposed to move in for another 6 weeks"... Whoa, hold on a minute - what do you expect me to do in the meantime?

The first person I spoke to said that they would let me stay in the flat until the other one was sorted and that because it was their responsibility they would allow me cheap rent for the extra week. A day later and I was told that that was not possible and that it never was possible. Their serious suggestion was that I should move into a hotel, but that they were not prepared to cover the costs of any of it. As it happens the completion date had been set as just under a week after i was supposed to move in. Eventually they agreed to allow me to stay in the flat a week longer but that they would charge me full rent for the period.

On top of this they said that I had to move out of my existing flat before I could collect the keys to the new one - with 24 hours in between. I can't work out if it just hadn't occured to the guy about what I was supposed to do in the meantime - I was expected to move into a hotel for the night or I leave my stuff boxed up outside the new flat.

Three days before the latest move in date and I got a phone call at 5pm - "Hi, just wanted to check where your up to with regards to your move in and to see why we haven't received your Tenant Referencing form". I was under the impression that because I was an existing tenant they already had all the details about me that they needed, whats more I hadn't even been sent a form to fill in. I was told that I must get it to them as soon as possible otherwise I would not be able to move in on time. I was told that they would email me a copy and that I had to fax the form back to them immediately. I'm not sure about everyone, but I don't know very many households that have a fax machine...

"Well, you will have to bring them in now - we are open for another half an hour."

Flabberghasted and unable to make it I told them that this was not going to be possible, eventually on my suggestion they agreed that they had a viewing in my building tomorrow and that they would collect them from me in the morning.

It's just as well I have a flexible job as I was still waiting at 1pm, no one had arrived. I phoned them and got the usual "I'll get them to phone you back" speech. Several hours later I actually got a return call from an extremely rude man telling me that they were unable to pick them up and as a result I had to get the forms to them.

When I complained I was told that they were doing this for me not for them and that if I didn't get the forms to them they would just have to delay my move in date. After several minutes of silence I eventually came up with an idea and after leaving me on hold for 15 minutes they decided that my solution was acceptable.

The best bit is - the day before I was supposed to move in I got a phone call "Hi, I have some good news and some bad news - thebad news is that the completion has fallen through on the flat you were supposed to be moving into, but the good news is we have a replacement flat for you...."

Please be warned - don't use them. Most of the residents in this building and the surrounding ones are Isaac Anthony, I have spoken to quite a few of them and not a single one I have spoken to has had anything but a bad experience.
This person would not use Isaac Anthony again.

Recently moved out of a property rented through IA. Still waiting for my bond!!! Completly agree with other comments. Potential new customers are treated very very well...they cant do enough for you. But be warned as soon as you move in they dont give a rats ass about you. Fellow neighbors have also had problems with them so it isnt a one off problem. The check out meeting when i was moving out of the property; woman was late and was very rude. Dont bother reporting any problems the usual wait time for something to be fixed is 3 + weeks. I ended up fixing a leak in my dish washer as no one ever came out to do it.

When you ring the office expect a long wait for the phone to be answered - terrible customer service in the Manchester Office. You could not pay me to rent another properties from these "cowboys" of the letting agents......stay well away from this company!!
