Chris Sellwood and Paul Pavlides from Foxtons valued, marketed and sold my Covent Garden flat. From the outset, they generated a number of serious viewings and quickly secured 3 offers. I rejected these as being too far below the asking price: even though I knew this to be a very ambitious target. Two of the prospective purchasers came back with improved offers and - thanks to Paul Pavlides - one then committed to what I had set as the minimum I would accept. At that point, my proposed purchase fell through and we went into a period of several months when I was not able or willing to proceed. To their credit, Chris and (particularly) Paul showed great perseverance and kept the deal alive. The outcome was that when I eventually found a new property, I was able to complete the sale. Interestingly, my neighbour was selling a flat of the same square footage in the block at the same time: and for £130,000 less than the price Paul had negotiated successfully for me. So, would I recommend Foxtons: what do you think!
This person would use Foxtons again.

I was looking to rent a house with my flatmate in Wimbledon in the past few weeks. I normally do not send a feedback, but this time I felt that Foxtons well deserved a good feedback.
We have finally found the place and moved in two days ago. During house hunting we were dealing with a dozen of agencies operating in the South West London. Out of all agents we dealt with, I would like to point out that only the Foxtons' agent Jake Harley has made an impression to us with his professional approach and excellent customer service. He responded to each enquiry we made straight away and himself made numerious calls and sent emails with property details to help us find the property. Each time his communication was at the highest standard and he was more than both helpful and professional.
We were almost sorry that the current portfolio of Foxtons did not offer the right property during the time of our search, as we were quite keen on renting with Foxtons due to the excellent relation that Jake created. We did rent out with other agency at the end, though sending feedback to Foxtons only. Having worked as the Marketing Manager made me very aware of how important a good customer service is, as it is practically the public image or the window of the company/agency. We were dealing with some other agencies as well who had more suitable properties but poor service and we were not too keen to proceed with them.
I am also aware of how challenging sometimes it may be to find and retain good staff. I do hope that Foxtons are proud of the staff they have.
This person would use Foxtons again.

I have recently received the keys to my flat: 16 Elgin Crescent Road and am writing with regards to Jasmine Miguel.
Rarely do I find this process a pleasurable and easy one, but I was quite impressed with Jasmine. She was incredibly speedy and accommodating in meeting my changing requirements for my apartment search, extremely communicative and consistently updating me on changes and information, and most importantly, a sympathetic negotiator on my behalf. I will be sure to recommend Jasmine to my friends and contacts for their future rental needs and would like to thank her for her efficient services.
This person would use Foxtons again.

Having lost all confidence in my previous Estate Agent`s ability to sell my flat at Battersea Reach, I decided to move to Foxtons and from the initial meeting that I had with Louis Harding, Sales Director I was convinced that I had made the right decision.
I received my first offer in less than 24 hours of appointing Foxtons but decided to decline the offer and sure enough within 8 weeks I had agreed to sell my flat for a higher figure.
Gareth Jones negotiated the sale with the Buyer and in all my dealings with him I found him to be extremely professional and efficient. He kept me informed throughout the entire sale process right up to completion and kept my stress level to a minimum.
This person would use Foxtons again.

Foxtons are, in my experience, a prime example of how bad an estate agent can be. Friendly, talkative staff, a flashy fleet of cars, a great looking website, and awful, awful service.

My property was officially "managed" by Foxtons. In practice this meant the problems we repeatedly reported - such as a broken oven, a window jammed open, etc. - were ignored for over six months. I awoke one morning towards the end of our tenancy to be greeted by a Foxtons agent and two prospective tenants, who had let themselves in to look around, unannounced. Of course, months later they still have our deposit, and with a general lack interest from their end, it is looking unlikely it will be returned in any form.
Their sky-high fees are worth noting too - whatever you expect, you'll be surprised. I've found you can do significantly better with any other estate agent. There is a reason their fees are difficult to find on that website.

I would never use Foxtons again, but I suspect many people caught in their trap are first-time tenants in London. If this is you, please, before you sign, think again about the big, glass-fronted offices, the fleet of cars, and the great looking website - and rest assured you will be paying for it all.

As a final note, I'd also say that the recent rash of 5 star reviews on this site - for an agent previously getting 1s and 2s - looks a bit suspicious. Perhaps they have improved suddenly - or perhaps an email went round the office. Be sure to read the earlier reviews too. There are a LOT of them.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

It's more than six years that I am dealing with Foxtons renting flats in London. They are always extremely professional very quick in finding a potential property matching your requirement and very caring of their customers.
They try to satisfy your needs and they are very good in negotiating with both landlord and tenant in order to find the right way to close the deal.
I have been dealing with other agencies in the past but to be honest they are the best!!
This person would use Foxtons again.

From a Tenants perspective, Foxtons are very poor at communicating. I have been sitting in my living room sometimes with visits from the estate agents constantly, without any notice whatsoever. when you challenge them for turning up unannounced they just apologise and do not leave, but continue the viewing.

Also, be careful about when you agree to a viewing, because one viewing turns into five or six before you have time to to draw a breath.

dont give them your work number either, unless you want to be pestered constantly with phone calls about last minute viewings that they want to do that day. Finally, be careful if they request to take pictures of your apartment, because they will move your belongings around and then not return them to where they were.
Foxtons...very disapointing.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

…one last thing, I just wanted to let you know how impressed we were with Sarah Olaleye, she was so on the ball and relentless in her pursuit of the sale (whilst being nice), we've never known anything like it!
A great team!
All the best and I'm sure we'll be in touch when it comes to selling next time (although that won't be for a while, my nerves need a rest!).

These people have been appalling. Sending 3, 4, people to examine some problem that could be fixed with one visit (after months of getting them to look at it) and one wonders billing the landlord for all of them? They have ruined relations with a very lovely owner. Tried to extort money by "clauses" in the contract that whoopsie aren't there. Really a crooked stick in our experience. For tenants or landlords absolutely awful. Avoid like the plague!!

Having had my property on the market with another agent and not sold, we decided to try Foxtons even tho it felt like going to the dark side....However, their service was IMPECCABLE. The property brochure was excellent quality and really showed off our home, and the agents were great at keeping in contact, always advising of viewings / changes to viewings, and providing feedback. Once an offer was accepted the great service continued, with a call around once a week to ensure everything was progressing and we had no issues. I really believe our agent - Ollie - helped the sale go through more quickly and smoothly because of his contact with us and the buyer. There's no doubt the fees at Foxtons are higher than most other agents, however there's no point having low fees if they can't sell your property...
This person would use Foxtons again.

I met Jake Harley last weekend and he took me out to view some properties around the Wimbledon area. He was courteous, polite, friendly and helpful. As I have been flat hunting tirelessly over the last few weeks I have come across some not so savoury estate agents – that are pushing the ‘dodgey salesman’ boundaries to say the least – that make you feel like they don’t have your best interests at heart, that they see a million people every day and that you’re just a number to them. Jake really stood out as he didn’t do any of that. Also, once he knew I had decided to search outside of Wimbledon, he contacted his colleagues in the new areas to help me further with my search.

He even went above and beyond driving me to my next appointment AND introducing me to an amazing baguette joint in Southfields!

Just wanted to give him a shout out as I think he’s doing a great job.

Definately the best estate agent experience I have had in my hunt.
This person would use Foxtons again.

We moved to Foxtons from another agency after trying to sell our flat for 5 months without an offer. We had chosen the first agency because we had rented the property through them and they offered us a discounted rate to sell through them. We moved to Foxtons having heard from friends that they were very efficient and we were not disappointed.
Gemma and Albert from the Shoreditch branch were absolutely superb from the first to the last day of our sale. They secured us our first offer within just a few weeks of marketing the property. They were tenacious and thorough in their approach to the sale. They always made themselves available to discuss important issues, even during their time off. They were always courteous and patient even on the most stressful days of the sale. When our buyer advised us she wanted the property emptied of all furniture and white goods one day before exchange, Gemma and Albert volunteered to do the job themselves on their weekend off to avoid the sale collapsing (which it surely would have done). Hopefully they won't ever have to do that again!
This seems to be the difference between Foxtons and other agencies. They go the extra mile and just do not give up. If their rate is slightly higher than some other agencies they are still worth every penny because the moment you hire them you can be absolutely sure they will get the job done and if they can't then no-one can. They were amazing.
This person would use Foxtons again.

As an overseas seller I contacted the only agent I knew - Foxtons. I gave them an exclusive mandate for 8 months only to get 8 months of excuses as to why they couldn't sell the place. I then gave it to another agent who came back with 3 offers and sold the place within a few months. Meanwhile all I continued to get from Foxtons was excuses and a stream of PR emails about all the meaningless awards they claim to win! On top of all that they hopelessly over valued the place to start with. Useless agent!

I would advise prospective sellers to avoid wasting their time with Foxtons, there are plenty of hungrier agents out there who will get the job done quicker and more professionally.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

I rented my current property through Foxtons. During my initial property hunt stage, they showed me the properties in a nice flashy car. All properties were over-priced, except the one I selected. They made me sit in their nice shinny office and they were very pleasant to me. My nightmare started once I made my initial deposit.
Whenever we had any questions after making our first payment, they wouldn't bother answering on time. Make us wait and then tell us the same thing - the property is managed by the landlord. Please get in touch with him. Our landlord was fortunately a very nice guy. He helped us during all the stages.
When we handed our notice period for the property - which is 2 months instead of the standard one month - they started harassing us for arranging an initial viewing. They didn't turn up on the time we booked them for viewing and instead they complained to our landlord that we didn't let them in the property!
They sent a letter to us stating that they'll charge us £100 for final inventory!!!!! They didn't even let us know about such fees in advance.
There are so many hidden charges that they added to us.
I would personally recommend any body to stay away from such a bad estate agent.
Don't get fooled by their shiny offices and well-dressed people. They're all there to rob you of your money and peace of mind!
This person would not use Foxtons again.

Having arrived in London from Germany, I was quite afraid that it could be rather difficult to find a flat within reach of our budget. However, the people at Foxtons really made a great effort to show me a variety of suitable properties. Once I had found something appropriate, we could agree on a contract with the landlord very quickly, thanks to the good handling by the negotiator.

This month my wife, Holly, and I spent about 3 weeks looking for a place to rent in South West London. We viewed over 40 properties and got to experience a variety of estate agents. It quickly became clear that Foxtons were a cut above the rest. We dealt with people from four of your offices and were consistently bowled over by the energy, professionalism and integrity of the agents we worked with. In particular, we would like to highly recommend Daloni Jones (Wimbledon) who was outstanding. We felt as though their sole mission was to find us a home.
I have had the MOST HORRENDOUS time dealing with this company. There is no communication between the offices, department and even the agents in the same office. I caught them out lying where they convinced me the landlord had given permission for viewings from his agent and 'very good friend' Andy, but then got a text from the landlord to say "do not let those snakes in".

Furthermore over a space of 2 days, I got a call from Tom to say I was being evicted, Helen to say the rent was overdue and then Natasha to say that her and Emma were doing viewings. I had Emma from North finchley office actually shout at me when I said I did not want her to do viewings without me there (a fair request agreed with the landlord) and found Natalia in my flat doing a viewing once when I had said I would be out for the evening!

This was towards the end, at the start, they refused to clean the flat or get us the parking permit from the landlord amongst many other complaints. I had gone up the formal complaints chain as per their website to the area director and have no time to do it again but I would not recommend this firm to anyone.

When a company grows, measures need to be put in place to ensure consistent service and the fact they work as a firm and not as individuals which is a concept this ridiculous company has not come to terms with. They are rude, liars, and inefficient ( unless it is to collect rent when they can call 20 times a day!).

Over my two years renting, I can name 15 people who have called, text and emailed me. How hard is it to have one account manager who actually knows what is going on rather than have sales ONLY deal with viewings, finance ONLY deal with payment, maintenance ONLY deal with issues and account manager ONLY deal with renewals!?
This person would not use Foxtons again.

Dear Ian,

Further to completion of the sale of Flat 53, I just wanted to send you a quick email to thank you for all your hard work in bringing the sale to completion.

It was at times a rather drawn out process with the parties, solicitors, the freeholder and the managing agents spread throughout the country. You provided an invaluable service in bringing the various components of the sale together and I do not believe that, without your expertise on board, the sale would have reached a successful conclusion.

I will of course recommend both Foxtons and you personally to anyone looking to buy or sell property in the area, and you will be my first port of call if/when I return to Marylebone.

Thanks again for your help.

Best wishes

Right from the very first appointment Alice made me feel 100% at ease and as if she was wanting to understand exactly what situation I was in and the best way to market my flat. Alice was great and gave me all of the information that I needed and answered my questions comprehensively. Throughout the period that the flat was on the market Alice gave me great advice when I needed to change price etc and I always felt reassured that she was doing her best to make things work well and find a situation that worked well for everyone. I felt at ease to ask questions that might appear stupid and Alice gave me great and informative advice everytime. Every time that I called or emailed Alice responded immediately and was 100% up to date with the situation. I live abroad and it wasn't easy to negotiate everything or make decisions from another country - I was very lucky to have Alice on side as I felt reassured that everything was going as it should. I trusted Alice's opinion on everythig as right from the start she had made me feel reassured that she understood the situation I was in. I popped in when I was in the UK and Alice took the time to sit down with me and chat about how we could move forward as the flat still wasn't on offer. I felt happy and confident when I left that I was doing all I could, price correct etc etc.
I also really liked the little Foxtons booklet that was provided - the checklists etc were great - it simplified the process and I enjoyed ticking everything off as I went from the 'prepare the property for sale list' to 'what to do between exchange and complete'!
A big thanks to Alice and Foxtons Dulwich from a very, very, very happy client!
This person would use Foxtons again.

As a "First Time Seller "I found them quite impressive, when valuing my property, giving me assurance they can do better than other agents, giving me one of 200 0%, veiwers were far between, and only had 2 in the 4 months i was with them.
feedback which i was assured i would get never happened, i had to keep chasing them up, by sending emails, which were ignored, phonning numbers supplied to me but were all going to voice mail, which took days to reply to me,
i was given a time frame of my 0%, i had 2 weeks left where they eventually contacted me, giving me old feedback, with stupid excuses, to reduce a large amount for cosmetic reasons, when i asked why should i reduce,
for others to re-arrange or decorate to their style, as it was valued at the price i was given allowing for all this, i was then given a run down on other properties by other agents, who have lower prices
little do they know i kept a check on what houses were being sold at in my area including the price, so they lied about it, they also lied about the 2 veiwers i had,
by saying the last couple wanted to change things for there grandkids to stay? i told them it was a young couple with no kids let alone grandkids,
The first elderly couple turned up at my door with an agent without prior booking, the agent insisted she booked a day and time with me,
Veiwers wanted to veiw even thou i wasnt prepared,(i got no apology) the feedback i got there was they wanted 2 seperate rooms not a through lounge and they smelt cigarrette smoke, and i should useing sprays or candles,
i told her it was my home and i could smoke in it, and they should try booking in the future,PLUS THE ROOMS WERE TOO SMALL?

once the 0% agents feeds time was up.they decided to contact me pushing to reduce, and changing the price on their website within seconds without me agreeing, which i kept saying i could not afford to do,
i then rang the agent it went to voice mail saying she would not be back in the office till the following week? another lie as she was in the office, i rang more numbers given to me all went to voice mail, i then sent emails
asking them to remove my property, they starting phonning me, so it was payback time, i ignored till i calmed down and was ready to return there call to get voicemail again, where i had to send another email, for them to call
i was then informed i could not use other agents for 4 weeks, when i first went with Foxtons, they did wait 2 weeks for me to remove from previous agents..
Foxtons are not to be trusted. full of lies once they have you on there books they do nothing, they seem to be out to add as many as possible round the olympics area, making it goof for them,
all at a high price, and ruinning other agents.. my experiance with them has been a nightmare..DO NOT USE THEM..
This person would not use Foxtons again.

Fantastic experience at Foxtons Blackheath! I'd recommend house hunters to use Elliot Hancox (on the Lettings team). Elliot is friendly, professional and expresses sincere understanding of your needs as a person and a tenant. I found him a delight to work with - he kept in touch on a regular basis without intruding and provided me with excellent market and property knowledge. I've found other agencies as treating you as just a numbers game to them, whereas I can honestly say, Elliot gave you the VIP treatment. He's a rare breed! Their office is located just a thirty second walk from the left of Blackheath Station which is handy if you're unfamiliar with the area. Head down there or to any Foxton's office - they're leaders in the property market for a reason!
This person would use Foxtons again.

I am writing about my recent experience with Foxtons agent Emma Pask who helped me and my family find a flat to live in, in less than a week.
We had a place set up and ready in Perivale however the current tenants refused to move out 3 days before we were supposed to move in. The agent in Ealing Broadway showed us other apartments however none of them were what we were looking for.
I then decided to turn to the agency in Finchley and Emma took the responsibility to find us an apartment within our budget. She was very friendly and did everything in her power to help us which is why 2 days after meeting with her we had a 2 bedroom flat within our budget in a nice area of Finchley. Although we had looked at other places in the area none of them worked out however Emma kept reassuring me that she will do everything in her power to find a nice flat for my family and she did that. We have now moved in and are very happy which is why I am writing to inform you of the excellent work Emma did.
I am aware that most agents try to get the best deal for their clients and for their agency but she was much more understanding than others I have worked with. On her day off she went to work just to make sure the landlord signed everything and we could get the keys. That showed dedication to her job which is not easy to find these day. I am very grateful and I hope we continue to get along with the agency the way we have.
I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Emma, she is so wonderful. I will recommend Foxtons agency to everyone I know, especially Emma.
This person would use Foxtons again.

Our experience with a Foxtons branch in North London has been frankly poor. The agent we've ended up with seems to be quite inexperienced, regularly making over the top comments in obvious attempts to convince us that we should rush into making an offer, right now, on any old flat they chuck at us. We get sent through details of properties that are totally inappropriate: not in the area we're interested in, far too high a price, or such a low price it doesn't even nearly meet our requirements, or with very short leases (not suitable for a first time buyer). We've also noticed they can be flexible with the truth - they'll tell you something has only been on the market for a month or two, but look online and you find its been for sale for much longer. Most of the stuff that we've been shown by them seems to have an obvious reason why it might be difficult for an estate agent to shift: for example it is at least 10-15% overpriced, with one flat on the market for nearly 25% more than a similar property recently sold for in the same building. On another occasion a flat was advertised as being nicely presented, and had attractive photographs - but on viewing, the property was in an appalling condition. Our agent also ignores phone calls & emails and is slow to respond, and has not been especially accommodating in terms of fitting in viewings when convenient for us. I just don't know how they justify charging sellers more than anyone else.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

I told him that I was only interested in properties in Wandsworth Town, no where else. He later called me to say he had found some suitable properties. I asked him if the properties were in Wansdworth Town - his reply, they are 5 minute walk.

When we went to view the properties, he took us to 3, 1 in BARNES and 2 in PUTNEY. Not only were the properties not in the right areas, they were also unfurnished and £100pw over our budget. As this was a brand new property I was keen to achieve a good rent as it would set a baseline for the development. Foxtons found a fully-referenced tenant very quickly, and handled the letting agreement, inventory etc. promptly and efficiently. On the minus side, their fees are high, and they take their commission up front out of the first rental payments. On the plus side, their staff work hard, and arrange showings in the evenings and weekends when other agents are closed.
My fiancé and I have recently been searching the market for a rental property, which included making contact with many real estate agents that deal with property lettings. I just wanted to provide some feedback on the customer service we received at Foxtons in Woking.

I went into the office and was greeted by a professional gentlemen that had me sit down while he made me a coffee. Then a very professional Amy Straw one of the branch's Lettings Negotiators met me and took my details in a friendly and helpful way. To answer some questions that I had, she then took me to computer that was within the bar counter of the branch and helped me to peruse your website for properties that matched our very specific requests.

I left the office armed with information and enlightened by the superior service and professionalism that I just received. Amy then called that evening to follow up our requests and since has called quite a few times to discuss potential properties that would meet our requirements. I felt like Amy was really working hard to find the right property for us, given our stringent and sometimes difficult requests. My fiancé and I actually found a very good property with another agent that met all of our criteria, I was just a little bit sad that the property was not handled by Foxtons in Woking. When I told Amy this evening that we have signed up for another property she congratulated me, agreed that I did find a good deal and would call next week just to make sure that the deal had gone through and would not need further help. Just another testament to her excellent manner.

I think this was the 10th letting agent that I had visited on the one day and by far and away the best. Good work Foxtons!
This person would use Foxtons again.

Their website is the best real estate website I have ever seen in my life, user friendly with every information possible. Their policy of not sharing any commissions makes them the best on the properties they run. There is one thing you have to be careful though, and thats for everyone out there trying to rent: read the contracts, and don't allow them to insert clauses that will not be in your favor in the future.
Foxtons are unprofessional and uninterested. Their shiny offices, flashy cars and well spoken agents are merely a facade. Beneath is a company which refuses to help, charges ridiculous fees and has an overall tone of disinterest.

We paid over £400 for admin fees, that were not carried out. So much so that we rented a flat that didn't actually exist on council records and had never obtained planning permission to be converted. This meant we had to spend months changing the councils planning records in order to get our parking permit etc. This was a very lengthy process and meant we could not park our car on the street for months outside of the free hours. Consequently my partner had to change his working hours as so he did not get a parking ticket. However in all of this Foxtons actually defended the fact that the landlord had not obtained planning permission. Apparently he had 'tried' and sent a letter, but never followed it up. When we questioned why this wasn't something they would check (for £400!) they said that they take a 'good will' policy over these issues and always trust the landlord has everything sorted. How professional.

Further more, because there was no planning permission, there was also no sound proofing. For months we have been able to hear everything from the flat above resulting in many sleepless nights. When we contacted Foxtons about this the only thing they could muster the energy to find out, was that the landlord was not 'pleased' with our request for soundproofing. It has not been followed up further.

This is an attitude that Foxtons continues to display. Today I have a bird stuck in our chimney, Foxtons have refused to help as the landlord doesn't want to pay to have a fireplace board taken off - which apparently will cost £100! I find this hard to believe as it is a piece of hardboard. I raised the point that if this bird then dies in there the flat will then stink if rotting pigeon. Foxtons say they will deal with that if it happens but we shouldn't be able to smell anything. Great. So now I sit and wait for the bird to die, as it cannot be rescued, and then wait for the smell to penetrate into our flat.

I am at my wits end with Foxtons, and these are only a few of the ways they have continued to make our lives difficult.

I will NEVER use them again, and will advice everyone I know to do the same.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

Absolutely useless!

Their tenant fees are an absolute bloody joke !! They charged me £400 the admin fee - the "polished" agent says that is to cover the referencing cost, cleaning of property and inventory - however, they've done no bloody reference cost as they didnt take any details off me as I "looked allright" , no inventory was ever done and not to mention the cleaning!!

The day I had to move in, the agent said he will meet me at the property to hand me the keys - fine - I was there at 6 pm agreed time and the agent didnt come until 7 pm ( it was bloody raining outside).

During the tenancy I called them several times to come in and have an inventory done - they made me wait 3 times for someone to come in, but no one ever did.

AT the end of the tenancy, they CHARGE YOU 20 quid to give you a reference!!! Where did that came from?!?!?!

Fancy cars, tailored suits but bloody useless!

I was the worst kind of client - didn't know where I wanted to rent, didn't know how long I'd need the flat, didn't have a real idea of budget but most of all, didn't really understand how the 'short let, furnished' system worked. The other agents I approached all told me to come back when I'd figured it out. In contrast, Adrian patiently provided an overview of how the system worked, carefully talked me through my own situation and then diligently researched the market for my specific needs. The Foxtons stereotype is of an extremely aggressive agent. Adrian kept me updated but was also happy to put things on hold at various times as my own situation changed, asking me when I'd like him to check back with me or if I'd prefer to let things drop for a period. They also give a master class in avoiding calls. Oh, he's out to lunch. I'll tell him you called.... What a loser. No one calls you back.

I didn't let them manage the property especially for 18% upfront charge. They charged 11.5% however for what is essentially a finders fee and then proceeded to 1. Fail to collect the rent, 2. Sit on tenants money when they did collect the rent and not pass it on (it go lost in the system....yeah right), 3. Charge me for check out costs because they couldn't reclaim it from the tenants and 4. Palm you off to anyone and everyone who bothers to pick up the phone.

You might receive slightly higher rents but they'll treat you like dirt. You'll end up being screwed by them somehow.

Pretty much as soon as we had finished each unit, they found a tenant to move in, at the asking price, and at a level which had a substantial premium for the area - of course the properties are worth it, but only Foxtons appreciated the level of detail and care we, as professional landlords, had put into our properties, and were able to reflect that in the rental values.
Have used Foxtons Woking once, and will never touch them with a barge pole again.

They are rude, impatient, unproffessional, university failures who are obviously motivated by the talk of a sales (on target earnings) job.

The problem is with a job like this, is that you have to be very ruthless and competitive, which leaves no room for politness and good customer service.

Foxtons are clearly ruthless, as they don't give a damm about how you (the existing tennant) are treated. With any vacancy being leached on by several property agents at a time.

We have come to the end of our tennacy, and both my flat mate and i are no longer dealing with Foxtons after this contract ends, however it hasn't stopped us being involved in their search for a new tennant.

They contstantly ring you to try and get access to the property, even though they are clearly aware that you are at work. When you do pick up and advise them of this, they still tried to arrange a 'during office hours' visit??!!

When my house mate returned one evening to the flat after work, she found a letting agent with a couple standing outside the flat. She said she was unaware that any viewings had been booked, but he forcefully said that he had spoken with me on a couple of occassions and agreed that someone could come in. This was a complete fabrication, and put my flat mate in a difficult position with the prospective new clients standing close by listening to the Foxtons moron lie after lie. The day after they then tried to play myself off against my house mate by calling me up and saying 'I know what words came out of my mouth, therefore i know i'm right'.

If you want to be treated correctly, efficiency and spoken to by a team of people who are willing to help you, then DO NOT LET OR BUY OR SELL WITH FOXTONS.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

After Foxton’s secured me a buyer for my flat, I asked James Blackler, my sales negotiator to tell your lettings department in Chelsea, Notting Hill, Fulham and Kensington know about my requirements for a house.

Whilst I had contact from all offices, Jonathan stood out from his colleagues by his pro-active approach to my property search. I did not think that the Chelsea office would be able to meet my requirements given my budget, and the first set of properties Jonathan sent me missed the mark, because they were apartments, as you would expect given the locale.

Jonathan followed up and listened carefully to what I was looking for and said he would think about it. Within 5 minutes he called me back and told me about Ifield Road and said he could do a viewing with me . Although the property was beyond my budget, he told me I should look at it, and I did.

He made me feel like his only customer and had all the time in the world for me. He was appropriately engaged in the viewing, but also gave me time to wander round and form my own view.

On asking to re-visit the property at a time which I know was not convenient to him, he made it happen, and once again was helpful, informative and appropriately engaged.

Once I decided to offer, Jonathan was professional, responsive and helpful in guiding me through the process. All that with a good sense of humour and a big dose of charm, which is always helpful! Whilst acting in his clients interests, Jonathan always made me feel he had my interest at heart too.

As CEO of a staffing business, which also acts as intermediary between client and job seeker, I understand the delicate balance of sales and service.

Foxtons were a disgrace from the start when we rented our property through them. Here are just a few of the problems we have encountered with them:
- a letting agent turning up on my doorstep with no prior warning, who proceeded to get aggresive when I questioned him bringing prospective tenants to view without notice. I was a female, alone, at night, and his attitude was abysmal.
- charging double the rent admin fee compared to other local residential lettings companies. But providing half the service, certainly in terms of customer service...
- constant harrassment during the working day, on my office phone line, trying to arrange new tenant viewings.
- accusations towards my housemate that he had lied and said viewings could go ahead.
- asking us to go out in our own time to get them sets of keys cut and bring them to them.
- never responding to contact, never returning calls, despite the fact that the manage the property. They didn't give us the key to our post box until a month after we moved in, so we could not access our post at all.
- general appalling attitude from incompetent young staff who just want to make a sell and are not concerned about you once you have signed your contract.

Foxtons being a large (and as far as I was aware, reputable) company in the area, seemed to fit the bill. I was impressed by the representative that came to value the property, and although their fees were somewhat higher than everyother quote, they seemed confident that they could achieve at least 10% above the figure that the other agents could achieve. When asked how they get higher sales prices I was informed that their "aggressive" marketing and sales skills means they get higher figures.

I quickly discovered that I had been duped as viewings were few and far between. Everytime a viewer cam around they told me the same thing - that the second bedroom was too small - almost making it sound like it was my fault. Clearly the second bedroom was the same size as it was when they valued the place so why not give me a market price for a 2 bed place with a small bedroom?

Eventually they recommended I reduce the price to the same figure that all the other agents said. As I was now paying a considerably higher fee for the same asking price I decided to swap agents. My sole agency agreement had ended but they still made it incredibly hard to terminate it.

In the end I sold hassle free within 3 weeks through a "traditional" agent for the new asking price that Foxtons had suggested but payed less than half the fee!

Who do these cowboys think they are? Reminds me of the film Boiler Room - Avoid like the plague

I was looking to rent out my flat and so I had a few estate agents came round to view, I was initially blinded by Foxtons spill on thousands of tenants on their books looking for properties, rentable area, commercial clients etc etc, and so foolishly took them up as my main agent. Despite their incredibly high charges I thought that if I could get their price then it would make up for the cheaper agents who could not get as much. After a few weeks of viewing, it soon became apparent that there were no offers and as such I was starting to get anxious that I was pricing myself out of the market, they then suggested I lower the price. I was quite annoyed at this point as I realised that I had probably been duped into accepting them as my agent.I finally got an offer which I accepted, as it was much more representive of what I thought the true value would be.
There was such a lack of communication bewteen Foxtons and myself after that, they are terrible at returning calls. When the tenants moved in, it quickly became clear that there were massive differences between what the tenants were expecting and what I was providing. In fairness to Foxtons im not sure it was their fault as the tennants did not specify what I should/should not leave behind.
Foxtons attitude was such that 'we're not managing the property, not our problem, speak to the landlord'. Thankfully the issues have been cleared up now.
Next up comes the rent. The T&c state that it can take up to 10 days to get the money to you and they will pay you interest a further 5 days after that. I work in a bank and I know how long these transactions take. The money will be cleared into their account on 1st of each month (if working day) it should then be to you 2 days later, I found that they fully intended to use this 10 day period that they state and every time I called up I had this thrown in my face, can you imagine the amount of interest they will earn on all their clients money? I know for a fact that they had this money at the latest on the 2nd and I finally received it on the 9th. You do the math!
On one of my daily calls as to where the rent was I was told, 'well we have alot of clients and we cant deal with all of them in 1 day' i actually laughed at the operator cos it just confirmed the contempt with which Foxtons hold their clients.

Tim Smith from Foxtons Putney was completely focused on selling our apartment and we have now completed the sale. Tim remained upbeat and positive when we were in despair about the market. He was creative in finding solutions to problems and has been remarkably patient and understanding.
I would probably have never actually selected Foxtons from the huge range of estate agents in Putney if it were not for this agent. He remained in contact with me for the initial 12 months that the flat was on the market with another agency, during which time the other agent singularly failed to sell the property. Foxtons was regularly in touch reminding me me that Foxtons could sell it. He was always well informed about the state of the property market and always had time to respond to my questions. In spite of my concerns about Foxton's higher commission Tim was able to convince me, and my husband (a generally unswayable rationalist) that Foxtons were the right choice for a difficult market. He was right.
After we switched to Foxtons, Tim was always in touch and always looking for ways around the difficulties we faced. In the past week alone there was a remarkable moment when Tim single-handedly found a solution that our solicitor, our buyer's solicitor and the managing agent were not able to see. He created a way forward which resulted in the final exchange on our flat within 12 hours!

These agents ARE pushy, rude, arrogant and unhelpful, once the contract had been signed. I pay just under £2K/Month (6 months upfront) to live in flat that was not cleaned before i moved in, had mice, and simple procedures such as light bulbs weren't working. I also moved in and there mold in the bathroom, which i had to buy industrial cleaners and clean myself. There were no curtains provided in the front room (I am a women living alone) and the window was larger than standard ready made curtains, so had to provide custom made curtains for myself.

We live in the 21st Century and there is NO possible way for me to get digital TV without having a subscribing (and paying for) a sky dish.

When i reported the rodent infestation, they sent a half hearted company round, who put poison down and in the end I had to literally catch the mouse myself, a health hazard if there ever was one.

They also threatened me with legal action over a shortfall in rent, even though i paid 12k upfront plus a 6 week deposit. When i asked how much the monthly standing order should be set up for they told me the wrong amount and then threatened legal action over the short fall....

They are without doubt the worst, most unprofessional, incompetent, avaricious, arrogant company I have EVER dealt with. Do NOT touch with barge pole.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

I signed their contract in good faith for sale of my property. Their buyer did not complete and I am being sued for payment of their full fees on a sale that did not complete because of their buyer being unable to complete. They say this is because as per their T&C their full fees become due on exchange of contract and not on completion of sale.
Awful, awful, AWFUL people.
Foxtons have no moral standards whatsoever, they work for profit only and do not care the slightest if their customers end up unhappy.

I lived in a Foxtons-managed flat for two years, and although the boiler was constantly malfunctioning, Foxtons did not take any actions because they could never "get hold of the landlord".
After two cold, hot-water-deprived winters, I decided to move out. Although they knew there was an on-going issue with the property, they kept bringing potential tenants for viewing every day, even on Saturdays. With an hour notice. One particular Saturday I was tired and wanted a lie-in, so I told the agent I didn't want them to come around. They rudely persisted: "Why not? It will only take a minute", it was extremely unpleasant experience.

Their relentless effort paid off and amazingly, Foxtons found new tenants to replace me a day after I left. Those poor new tenants, moving into a property with a malfunctioning boiler, they don't know what's ahead of them...

And because I left before the end of the agreed tenancy, I had to pay the penalty. I left early, BECAUSE the property was poorly managed - yet Foxtons ended up with profit and I lost out.

A lesson in life, I suppose... Always research the company, before you get in a relationship with it!
This person would not use Foxtons again.

I was a tenant renting in West Hampstead last year. Just a short list of Foxton's failures:
- They could not properly charge 1st month's rent as we (flatmates and agent) discussed, because the agent left on holiday for a month and neglected to tell anyone else in the office what the agreed procedure was, leaving one of us with exorbitant foreign credit card fees.
- We never heard from that agent again when he was called out for his mistake, and it took weeks to resolve with whoever felt like processing the correct paperwork in that office.
-When showing the apartment to potential renters, they bombarded us with unannounced visits. They were defensive and rude when we rejected an unannounced viewing at 10pm on a weeknight. They lied about calling ahead of time
-They failed to provide the correct date on our termination of tenancy, causing delay in closing out several direct deposits for bills at that property.
-They have failed at refunding our security deposit over a month after we vacated the property, and have ignored all communication to get it done.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

Awful. Absolutely awful. I wish I'd listened to the stories I heard about Foxtons before looking at any properties with them. We had our offer accepted by the landlords (apparently), handed in our notice for our current flat, signed the contract, sent references, paid a deposit, months rent and agency fees, only to find out that the landlords wouldn't sign the contract unless we paid more each week. Foxtons happily took our money before the landlords signed the contract, we don't know if the landlord ever even agreed to our offer in the 1st place. Both the agent and manager were so so rude when we asked to see paperwork explaining that this was legal. We were then told that our complaints were taking up too much of their time. Though we lost out on a great flat, and precious time looking for a new place, I'm actually really glad we didn't end up living there, I can't think of anything worse than having to deal with them ever again.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

A nightmare. Whilst they got us a reasonable rental fee their management fee is high. Nonetheless the tenant came through quickly so we went with them. Was coerced into a 2 year contract with 6 months before a 2 month notice period. We found out the tenant was leaving two weeks before he left. The tenant had also only given one months notice claiming the deposit could cover the other month and therefore did not pay. The tenant had also made some changes to our flat that we had not been notified of and which we had to make good. Foxtons did not chase, did not do anything to help us get the money owed and did not get any forwarding address details. Meanwhile, being an overseas landlord we were exempt from UK tax and despite the HMRC sending the necessary paperwork, they failed to deduct tax for the six months. When finally they admitted they were at fault, we could not get the tax back and had to contact HMRC to claim the money. The HMRC require Foxtons to send me a form of tax declaration and four months on and at least six written requests, and I still am waiting for it. It's painful. They are professional and good sales people. But once you've signed up they don't care.
1) In spite of my request to be present at the check-in inventory, Foxton's surprised me by handing me a report prepared in my absence. The report listed items not present in the property and was oblivious to existing damage in the property. I am fortunate to have a lawyer as a friend who quickly helped me to draft an ammedum to the inventory, secondly I was fortunate to have a decent landlor who accepted the amendments. Foxtons' process was lacking in profesionalism.

2) I began to get calls asking if I would renew my lease three months before the expiry of a one year leas (when the contract says two)

3) Foxtons showed the property without my prior permission to conduct a viewing

4) After complaiing about this, Foxton's interpretation of reasonable time (to warn on a viewing) was I discovered somewhere between 4 hours and 20 minute (not kidding)

5) It has been three weeks since moving out and in spite of the landlord and myself having agreed deductions I am still yet to see my deposit monies. Foxton's keeps on coming up with one excuse after another.

I have rented several times in my life. I have only had one bad experience and it is this one. Foxton's are in my view cavalier, unprofessional, overly aggressive, and I am shocked by how they violated the clauses regarding viewing. I felt violated and distressed when I found out they had conducted viewings without my permission.
When I agreed to rent a property in Chelsea we agread terms with the negotiator.
Prior to signing the lease the negotiator then said the landlord wanted a better offer as someone else had made a higher offer on the property.
I increased my offer on the property which the negotiator then said the landlord accepted and I signed the lease.
I paid hefty commission £350 for Tenancy Agreement fee (photocopied standard lease for all properties) - almost one weeks rent.
The property was not too high standard and delivered to me with dirty undefrosted fridge and unhygienic old carpet.
I met the landlord a few weeks later when he had to do some repairs at the premises and he confirmed to me that it was not true that he had demanded a better offer from me and he did not have a better counteroffer from any other party and told me that Foxtons were playing games. So I had paid more for the flat than I should have.
When I left the property Foxtons told me there would be no deduction from my Deposit.
After I vacated the premises they made a £208 deduction from my deposit and said this was due to the "professional clean". As the property was not too standard in cleanliness terms when I moved in then I should not be liable for a "professional clean" when I moved out, therefore I asked for the full deposit to be returned but no one has replied or returned the balance of my deposit.

Avoid at ALL cost. I had heard terrible stories about Foxtons but I never imagined it would be this bad. I m writing this review and I have not even moved into the flat yet. The search for flats was an absolute nightmare in itself. The lady showing us round was unbelievably rude and disrespectful to us. In fact, she was so rude, I am not even going to give examples here for you would simply not believe it if I told you and think I m just trying to get back at her. Despite finally and after sweating blood, getting a flat (more out of need than out of satisfaction), I m still currently in mediation with their formal complaints department to at least not let her get away with her behaviour.

Conclusion is the same - AVOID if you can! Unfortunately, it is so difficult to find a property in London that sometimes you cant but just sign up with all agencies. But if you have a chance at all then really, really - AVOID Foxtons!!
This person would not use Foxtons again.

I came to Foxtons as a last resort. I had heard horror stories from acquaintances and I had read hundreds of scathing reviews online, but I just wasn't finding the right fit through any other estate agent, so I entered the Shoreditch office with great trepidation. The comment I'd read most frequently was that they rush you in to signing a contract, and I decided to be extra-careful when it came to that.

The office is certainly flashy, and the young estate agents definitely hotshots- but the service I received was efficient, rather than rushed. When I decided I wanted a property, everything did move quite fast. I used the maximum amount of time that Foxtons allows to make my final decision, I drove a hard bargain to the landlord, and I sent the lease to practced legal eyes before I signed it. I can only conclude that many clients who felt rushed to put pen to paper simply weren't careful or stubborn enough to push back.

I had a very good experience with Foxtons. The estate agents were rarely able to answer their phones when I called, but they always responded to emails promptly. I love the flat and it was made ready for living in under a week. I am quite young, female and went through the entire process alone while my partner was still at home abroad, yet I felt respected- a feeling I didn't get from several other estate agents in town.

My flat is managed by the landlord, so I can't speak to the Foxtons management service, which I know is the source of many clients' contempt. If it had been managed by the company I might still be nervous moving forward, but all in all, I am satisfied. So far!
This person would use Foxtons again.

Absolutely awful. Avoid at all possible costs.

That most estate agents provide bad customer service post-sales is to be expected (unfortunately), but Foxtons manage to provide equally bad pre-sales service too. I've rented one property from their Canary Wharf office for 5 years and I'll give you the highlights:

- Dishwasher didn't work for a year
- Shower leaked through the ceiling for the first 4 years
- No shower door the entire time
- Foxtons do not reply to phone calls or emails
- Unexplained deductions from the deposit

And this was from a 'Managed' property, which is supposed to be a superior service. They have such a high turnover of staff that you're lucky if you speak to the same person twice.

I hope this helps people not make the same mistake we did.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

I had bad bad experience before with Foxtons (Lordship Lane branch) when we booked to see a property, we were told the only time he (Andrew, a South African guy) can show us the property is Sunday morning at 8:30. We were kin to see it so agreed to the time. He then spent almost 3 hours driving us (claiming showing us the area) around and showed us 3 other properties which are all 100k over our budget, then turned around said “sorry we ran out of time, I have the next client waiting and have to show you the flat you want to see some other timeâ€. We lost that property as we had to go with a different agent to get to see the property and by then there were already 2 offers on the table. Should have known then that Foxtons is a big “no no†– they do have very nice website to attract you in though.
We then (stupid enough) used Foxtons Streatham High road branch (told them the story and they said they will change our mind about Foxtons) put in an offer for a property in Tulse Hill (London), the property is lease hold and has a high service charge (£190 per month), as part of the deal, Foxtons informed us that the vendor has agreed to pay for 6 months service charge post completion. Foxtons was very pushy (there were 2 agents dealing with us Tom H and Chris R, Chris was extremely rude to us) and tried to get us to pay for the survey before the draft contract was agreed. 3 months into the purchase, we received an email from the vendor’s solicitor saying neither the vendor nor her solicitor has heard about the “6 months post completion service chargeâ€. We challenged Foxtons and they got into a panic, Foxtons then tried to bully us and told us the vendor would pull out the deal if we don’t agree to their terms that no 6 months post completion service charge would be included in the agreed price. I told them to go ahead with it, until this day they still chasing us for an alternative solution (well...they can get lost)
We were misled to a material degree which is illegal, so if they are bad enough to do illegal stuff then it gives you a good indication how bad things are with Foxtons.
So if you don’t want your property purchasing/selling experience turn into a nightmare (like ours) then avoid Foxtons at all cost.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

Apartment was promised as fully serviced, but when I moved in it did not even have bed sheets, pillows or towels. The kitchen stayed unequipped for 3 weeks. The internet that they promised me to be included in the rent turned out to be a wireless stick with 1GB surfing volume. After that I had to reload it myself. Clearly not the way to go.

They will screw you where they can and certainly do not honor any agreements.

We have been in our flat for 4 weeks, with issues since day one, most of which still haven't been resolved.
Deceitful, conniving and impolite.
From the start of our tenancy, five and a half months ago, till now, only two weeks till the end, our experience with Foxtons has been diabolical.
Moving in:
1. We were rushed into signing a lease, and to top that conned into thinking there was a bid "slipped in through the door" over Christmas, so we should up our offer if we want to secure it. Stupidly we did. 2. Flat was not professionally cleaned. There were pins in the carpet that went through my fiance's feet. Glass panes of the window were lying around as were the screws. The walls were stained. We complained and then had cleaners in but it was too late as we had already moved our belongings in.
3. The windows are broken and have been jarred shut for the entire duration of our tenancy and despite many complaints and requests to have them fixed Foxtons still has not had them fixed. This could be a combination on Foxtons' poor management and an inconsiderate and negligent landlord.
4. Now that the flat is back on the market with us having given our notice in, they have started marketing relentlessly, walking into our apartment without any notice, or ringing the doorbell. Having complained again and again they still carry on doing so.

Do yourself a favour and go with Marsh & Parsons, FW Gapp or Carter Jonas in the area.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

I was amazed how consistent people are in the above reviews giving just one star (terrible) to Foxtons! I wish I read these reviews before signing them up to let out my house. Predictably the promissed the earth during "valuation" and then chased me for months saying they are the best, they have lots of corporate clients and they won XYZ award. The person giving that award should be castrated - for misleading the general public! They took 4 months (1) and over 70 viewings to rent out a perfectly good house in a desirable location. They put pressure on me to reduce their originally inflated price and didn't give me any good advice (I found myself that a simple redecorating of 1-2 rooms would have done the trick quicker). In the end they found me a rubbish tenant at the break even price (only just covers my interest free mortgage), so when I am back from overseas I will have to shell out to refurbish the place and I am obviously making zilch profit and big zero of a nest egg to cover my future expenses! the money tentants pay are gobbled up by extortionate fees that Foxtons grab straight away (all payable to them from day one for the duration). And the "managed" bit is a con. I had to go for it as I am not around at the moment. The tenant flooded the kitchen downstairs in April and they still haven't got the estimates for the insurance company in July. I feel sorry for the tenant but even worse for my ruined ceiling! If I can only wriggle out of the contract with them, I would close that chapter and forget them as my worse nightmare, but the saga continues sadly as they have now overpaid my tax (there was no tax to pay, only losses) and charged me 120 quid for the priviledge! My boıiler failed like 20 times, the apartment which was supposed to be professionally furnished literally had one dirty sofa and a 30 year old TV on the ground. All my colleagues had massive problems and Foxtons never helped or cared. Right now I am again in search for 8 apartments in London and even if they had the best offer (they don't) I am willing to pay double just to avoid working with them. I have to add Shoreditch office was especially horrible! I was considering launching a website like fuxtons and publish all the mailings with the company - they are that bad!

Do not sign up with Foxtons as you will sign with the devil. They are incompetent, arrogant, useless and are only interesting in one thing only money! As soon as they have your money and signature, they could not care less about you as a tenant and will create problems between you and the landlords. They also change your payment records and backdate rent increases so you end in rent arrears although you have paid your rent on time and in full at all times. They will harass you to leave the flat at the end of your contract so they can sign up new tenants and get a full commission, they hold your monies for weeks so your landlord thinks you have not paid your rent, they view flats without giving you 24 hours notice as required by law and will come at any moment with keys. They will phone you 20 times a day to push you to sign or let them in and invente false bids on both rentals and when buying a property.

1) First, the agent took an advantage of the fact that the property was unfinished and told us a series of lies regarding the property (This will happen, that will happen, etc.). When the truth was revealed and the agent was confronted, the said agent mysteriously left Foxtons, and Foxtons denied any liability of their ex-employee's action.

2) Then, they kept moving the agreed move-in date weeks after weeks, to the point where I ended up homeless (I had to leave my old flat, but the new flat managed by Foxtons was still not ready). They had the nerve to suggest to me "Why don't you hire a Self Storage for your belongings, and check in to a hotel until the property is ready?"

We had a short term let arranged through Foxtons to give us a home while our house was being renovated. We moved in after my baby was born and six weeks later Foxtons called up on a Friday night and said they needed us out by Sunday because they had not agreed with the landlord to re-let the place. They had finally contacted the landlord that afternoon and he'd said that he was actually intending to move in himself that weekend. They had taken our money, even insisted on two witnesses on the contract for our signatures but they did not feel they had done anything wrong.
The landlord was furious with them as was I, but the landlord saw our little baby and couldn't bring himself to make us homeless. So we got a week's grace and Foxtons were forced to help us find a new place.
However, when we came to get our deposit back, Foxtons deducted £500 for it for the work they had done finding us a new place.
I don't think I have ever loathed a company as I loathed Foxtons. I'd never give them my business, no matter how good their buyers or how perfect the property they represent.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

Having signed the contract and paid out over £5000 we recieved a call the following day stating that we were not able to move in until 2 weeks after the agreed and contracted date as the current tenant will not move out - we have recieved 2 contradictinig reasons for this 1) the tenant is refusing to leave despite her contract having ended and 2) the landlord has extended the current tennants contract - either way meaning that Foxton's have not adhered to the terms of our contract, and should surely provide us with alternative accomodation for any amount of time within the contract that we are not able to live in the property.

Having made several phone calls to try to resolve this issue we have been told that there is nothing that they can do, it is apparently the landlords responsibility, whose details they will not provide us with.

This has created huge problems for us as we are all starting internships in London and have been left effectively homeless for 2 weeks, and been told that the current tenant may not even move out at that point.

I rented a 'managed by Foxtons' property in Holland Park. Despite broken appliances when we moved in, nothing was done. Our property 'manager' ignored our repeated calls when a leak sprung from the flat above. As a result, two weeks later the bathroom ceiling caved in. They apologised for their lack of action, but did not fix it - we were moving out soon anyway. Then they kept our deposit, without explanation.

In hindsight their flashy offices and fleets of cars should be a tell-tale sign: somebody's getting robbed. With Foxton's, it's pretty much everybody.

Even without a horror story like mine, their fees are absolutely absurd - you can do better with any other estate agent out there.

The next morning we got a call from them telling us the landlord wanted more money as he had been given a better offer. They couldn't give any details of the offer so I thought it was BS and didn't want to pay more anyway. I'm just glad we hadn't sent any money (we almost did).

The manager in this branch, Ed is a complete asshole and sides with the landlords over tenants. Its obvious from his mentality and thought process.

Avoid them like the plague if you know whats good for you.

We wish we would have listened. We were told in writing by the agent before we signed the contract that the landlord approved of us hanging a TV on the wall and we were allowed to have cat. Guess what? None of this was true, and the landlord was never even asked about it. The agent even pretended to go the back to call him. After some negotiating with the landlord, we were allowed to hang the TV on the wall, but we're not allowed to have cats, which was really important to us. The agent and manager ignored us for weeks until they realised they didn't have our bank account details on file. They of course sided with the landlord, even though we had it in writing, because that is 100% where their loyalty lies, and told us we could move if we wanted to. We were also told that we would have access to a communal garden across the street, which of course wasn't true. Do yourself a favour, and don't use Foxtons. If a problem arises, they will side with the landlord everytime. We were told by many people that Foxtons is famous for giving the wrong information in order to close a deal, and that was definitely the case with us.
We were looking to buy a property and arranged property viewings through Foxton. We even went as far as to making an offer through them. During our interaction with Foxton, their attitude is always cold and cocky, simply act as someone who relays messages between buyer and seller. The agent scheduled viewing with us, but when we arrived at the appointed time, he could not go because he has to be in the office, and insisted that he would never schedule something for that time.

When we lost faith in them and decided to go through another agent, they insisted to the seller that they be paid a selling commission because they showed us the property first! How ridiculous is that?

*Sellers be aware*, the advantage of a big firm like Foxton is that they have many resources and can provide nice marketing for your property. However, they are overpriced for what they do, and tries to take credit for things they did not do well, and in the end, you will end up paying for this. They do not have the best interest of customers in mind, only money.

I do not recommend Foxtons to buyers or sellers.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

Ed Coxhead and his manager Steven failed notify me that my keys would be delivered to me at the end of the day, causing me to lose half a day at the property, and causing me to have my movers wait and get paid. They also failed to pass on my detailed points on the tenancy agreement to the property company, Armitage Properties. This is a pressure-cooker sales operation. Unfortunately they know that a new sucker can be found. Hope this changes soon.

I wish I had read these reviews earlier. Moved into London a year back. Crunched for time and Foxtons did a good job of showing me a couple of places. End of the good part.

The place I rented was shambolic to say the least. Anything could fall off at any time.

Winter came and we realized the insulation was not a word in the house dictionary. Radiator was moody. The only constant part of the chill inside the house. Radiator was checked but turned out to be fine!! Never knew that even though there was no heat radiating, it could be graded fine.

Complained 4 months back that there was a a possible leak in the bathroom. The mats got frequently wet (trust me, I know how to use a bathroom!!). No one ever cared to check. I have sent in three reminders.

Now when I complained, they found mould in the bathroom. Owner says no ventilation and should have made sure there was proper ventilation. There are no ventialtion fans and the only way was to keep the window open during the peak winter. He has given me a large 3 digit quote to be deducted from my deposit.

Kitchen light fixtures almost fell off and there were sparks flying from one of the switches.

Oven is for damp storage only!!

I am sure they would gobble up most of my deposit. The address is mentioned below, so that if at anyone plans to rent it and happens to read this review - they know what they are signing up for.

After I had signed my contract and made all moving arrangments for the move in date, foxtons rang to tell me I couldn't move into the flat as it had to undergo building restorations. How come they didn't check this prior to putting the property on the market? After a lot of negotiations and me having to fly abroad to live with my parents for a week they "suddenly" changed their mind and the flat was fit for living in. When I moved in there was no warm water and all radiators apart from one was working. The property was managed 24/7 but yet I always had to chase the property manager. Later the mice came in and a pest controller came who advised me there was a hole behind the sink and nothing that could be fixed. When the washing machine broke down they replaced it but left the old one in the garden for 3 months. When I terminated the contract I was told the rent had gone up 3 months ago and they had forgot to advice me about it, so I had to pay the extra up front.
One can hardly imagine a more horrific nightmare than signing a contract with Foxtons. If you have any expectations that a signed lease has enough binding power for this organization to act by it, you would have to think again.

As a simple example, the contract says you should get your lease deposit within 28 days of vacating the rented flat. I got my deposit for my first flat for them 55 days after I left it, reduced by some mysterious amounts, and I am still expecting my deposit for the second one, 41 days after vacating the second flat. Quite obviously, there would never be a third time.

And that's just the easy part. Now try to get them to repair your non-working toilet for 10 days in your corporate flat, or fix the promised internet for the entire lease. And I dare not imagine the treatment a non-corporate and less defended renter may get.

I am just appalled at the lack of any consideration or care for a customer. I am now looking for legal advice to see how justice can be served on these glorified fraudsters, but in the meantime, please:

Do not fall into the same trap all of us obviously have.

Absolute Joke - would never ever use again!!!

We has trouble selling our flat and seeing as we were getting desparate we rang Foxtons Pinner.

In our area of Ruislip they have a terrible reputation of overpricing the area and failing to get sales.

The certain member of staff rang me back in ten minutes and began lecturing me that the price the flat was on the market for was ten grand below what they thought it should be selling it for!

This was a price worked out by THREE separate local independant estate agencies and Foxtons told me that i should instruct them to raise the price of the flat to a "realistic" price as they were gaurenteed to sell the flat as they were "different to other esate agents as the advertised worldwide" - not the internet by chance...... because i am sure that all other agents use this information tool as well!

Our flat was empty as we had evicted our tenant from hell and all correspondance was to be sent to our home address.

Foxtons came round to the flat next day and took the photos and floor plan and then sent it all back to the empty flat!

Luckily I caught this post as any of the other agencies viewing the flat would have picked it up and taken it away with any junk mail.

This happened with all of the paperwork on two further occasions.

At that point I drove to Pinner that morning and recovered the key, informed them of their incompetence and told them their services were not required.

During the forth and (final sale) was going through the same agent rang again and would not take no for an answer - he was shouting down the phone that the flat should not be off the market and I should have done as he "instructed".

Promplty he was told they were sh*t and he should f*** off (apologies to readers but it was the only was to shut him up from his agressive sales pitch and then I slammed the phone down on him.

He then sent a rude text saying he wished me all the best with the sale - I prompty had several pizzas delivered to the shop in his name!
This person would not use Foxtons again.

This pays for their commission and everything else they throw at you in an attempt to get money. I'd drop them in a flash if tenants would wise up.
This person would use Foxtons again.

I only wish I had searched this review site before signing up with Foxtons. I have never used a letting agent before and was initially foolishly charmed and impressed at their can-do attitude.

I have since learnt that once you sign on the dotted line, they are absolutely uninterested in you as a client. I have been made to feel like a complete fool when speaking to them, and given the impression I'm a burden - even though they charge the highest management and letting fees in the area (17% all in). You would think their high charges would relate to high standards in professional service. Not so.

You are never able to deal with the same agent twice as they move on from the company so quickly. I have received invoices relating to their other clients. My biggest tip if you do decide to use this company is to watch your invoices carefully - I have been overcharged for work done on my property that I didn't authorise, for which I am then billed. You have to follow up their errors again and again because they simply don't want to know.

I've found the whole 'Foxtons' experience overwhelming, frustrating and maddening. This is related to the Angel branch, N1.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

I have had the luck of being a landlady for Foxtons. If you will rent out or sell your property Foxtons is great, because they will do everything and i mean everything to find you that tenant even though they are not right for you. They have even lied to me on many occasions about the prospective tenants. So, god forbid, I would never wanna have anything to do with them if I were tenants. Even though they have found me nice tenants, they made the life hell for me by lying to me and wasted my time by bringing me people that i would never rent my flat to. Too aggressive.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

These guys are cowboys, they will try to rent out flats at at 20-30% premium vs other estate agents, they will push you to place you deposit even if they haven't agreed anyting yet with the landlord, to try to push them into the deal as well. They are all young, inexperienced, aggressive and arrogant.
I would'nt use this company. It's ethics and morals are apparently non-existant as they allow rogue traders within their ranks.
They exist because they appeal to greed. All agents are out to get the best for the seller - but using ethical means - this is important to me so for me the are nono.
You've only got to look atr comments on the net and sites like www.wehatefoxtons.com to get the idea.
This person would use Foxtons again.

We rented a flat for 1 year which was managed by Foxtons. We would never recommend this agency again.

It is a mess internally, they couldn't find our documents which proved our payment of additional fees, until I went by myself and spoke to a different guy instead of the lady managing the flat. Suddenly everything was in the system! What a surprise....!

Then the flat was promised to be cleaned and bathroom painted before we move in - nothing happened at all! Dirty, dusty, disgusting. After several phone calls somebody came for painting after 3(!) weeks when we moved in! It was done fast and inaccurate. Things that we said were broken (fallling apart window frames, leaking roofs) were always put in the report, but then ignored.

When we moved out, additional charges were taken from our deposit. For example "proffessional cleaning fee" which we did not want, because we had our own cleaner. Especially when we had a choice before to take a cleaner from them or arrange it by ourselves. We thought, it would be less expensive if we arrange one by ourselves..... stupid thinking, because they charge you anyway, even if the flat is clean.

The tone of a lady in Chiswick is very aggressive, patronizing and unfriendly. She was almost SHOUTING at us, as if we were stupid, when she could not find the documents of our payment. Well, it is no wonder that we are then aggressive as well. Besides, to get ANY informations why we have to pay, for what, a normal inventory and other usual things you get for example at "Keatons" you definitely don't get at Foxtons.

In my view, they are far far away from beeing professionals.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

We have been trying to use Foxtons to find somewhere to rent. Not only do they not get back to you, but they refuse to find you places that you ask to see, and instead try and get you to see an overpriced place you may not have any interest in viewing.

I dealt with the Camden Town branch, someone called 'Dale Peterson'. We received lies saying we could not assess a place on pictures alone and I found the whole sales techniques to be overkill and aggressive, something I found extremely off-putting.

I have also dealt with their Notting Hill branch. Whislt waiting for an agent to arrive you could hear these young, testosterone-driven animals making crude remarks about customers and sales. We were also made to wait over half an hour.

When the properties were finally shown to us, once again THEY WERE NOT THE PROPERTIES WE HAD ASKED TO SEE. One of the properties had a dead cockroach in the shower and was falling apart, and the other was in a lower basement flat which we specifically said we did not want to see. The outside resembled a crack den yet was described as being an area for 'outside storage'.

An absolute, unmitigated disaster and a place run by crooks and vandals. Avoid at all costs.
This person would not use Foxtons again.

Leaks in every room, after under a year he walked out - leaving rent unpaid because they'd never fulfilled their obligations to him as a tenant. More people should do this - just communicate your complaints in writing (pref email and ask for "read receipt" so you have evidence), take photos, get the neighbors around so you have evidence. Preferably, just never use them - too much negative publicity so you should know better!
This person would not use Foxtons again.

We had arranged with Joshua Benjamin (tel 07875801230, 02071337765) from their Canary Wharf office to view some properties on a Sunday morning. He calls early that morning to tell us that he has to cancel all appointments for "personal reasons". We reschedule for Tuesday evening. He calls again on Monday morning to confirm. On Tuesday evening when we arrived, he told us that we had left him a voice message saying that we want to cancel the viewings, and therefore he is unavailable!!!!

AVOID these sleazy characters at all costs! Not to mention that in early telephone conversations we had with him he was trying to get out as much personal information as he could. The most unpleasant character you could ever come across!!!
