I am so glad i found this website, i thought i have suffering alone all these years in the hand of useless Peverel OM or OM management or whether they call themselves nowadays. My story with them dated back to 2008.
I took ownership of my flat in 2005, Service charge fee was paid by Direct Debit promptly every month, even sometimes they ended up owing me money. In April 2008 i started another monthly direct debit with them 2008-2009 financial year, they confirmed everything in a letter back then, everything was going well until about October 2008 when all of a sudden i received an arrears letter in the post, i was surprised and confused, as direct debit was set up. I immediately checked with the Bank, and the bank confirmed the direct debit was still set up and not cancelled. I phoned Peverel up then on several occasions to find out what they were playing at, i found the staff to be the most unhelpful, rude and unprofessional, many of them argued with me that i had never set up a direct debit which i found to be a joke. promises were made to investigate what happen to direct debit and get back to me on several occasions, they never kept their promises, i kept getting arrears letters, which were ignored because after a while it felt like i was banging my head against the wall. i sent several complaint letters to their head office, only if they will reply tomorrow, meanwhile the service charge has been mess up so much with all sorts of administration charges and interests, funnily, even though Peverel said i have no direct debit setup every year they still charge me £15 Direct debit fees which they add the my service charge account, which showed how messed up they are, the account was passed on to different Debt recovery companies, in which after i explained the situation to the debt recovery companies they would pass the account back the Peverel and they would go quiet for a bit and then start send their threatening letters again, they every wrote my mortgage company several times asking them to pay the service charge claiming i have failed to respond to their payment demands, this nightmare went on until early 2011 when one of their staff finally to me over the phone that they cancelled the direct debit because i re-mortgaged my flat in 2008 add my partner's name to it, so how that has anything to do with direct debit that was beyond comprehension, i have no prior warning or letter of this, and the fact that it took Peverel 2 years to work this out showed how incompetence they are. I requested for this to be put in writing, until today i have yet to received any such letter.
Now in 2011, I know why my direct debit is not being collected, i dont want compensation for the error or for all the hell you have put me through, i just want you to go through the account since 2008, remove all your administration charges and interest added to the account since 2008 plus your direct debit fees since you are incapable of managing a direct debit let alone managing a whole block of flats, i should not have to pay for those. Provided that i am happy all charges were removed, i will clear the balance on the account. Few weeks later surprise surprise, i got a statement of accounts, all charges were not fully removed. i queried it straight away, promises were made, i was passed from pillar to post and still chasing, in the meantime, their collection team have started to hard all sorts of charges to the account again, I was started to receive arrears letters again. i was loosing the will to live, sleepless nights. it got to a point where i few instead of the account keep acruing i will send Peverel a cheque every year to clear that year's fees but Peverel will return the cheques back that i should contact a Debt Recovery company as they no longer management my account. since then i just left them to it.
Last week I have now received a letter from a solicitor who is trying to take me to court to recovery the amount due. from the solicitors's letter i get impression that Peverel have not brief the solicitors about their faillings on the account or their incompetence, I dont know what i am going to do with this now, i am seriously tearing my hair out. i have written to the solicitor briefing him properly about the account highlight Peverel's failing and made offer to him as to how much i think i owe Peverel, i am waiting for him to reply.
Please avoid this company at all cost, they are absolutely a bully,
