I would not use the agent again

I used CJ Delemere out of Muswell Hill to find a flat to let. They gave me a complete run around. I spoke with a different agent every time I phoned or viewed a property because the last person I spoke with was always unavailable. The agents that showed me flats were unknowledgeable and gave me incorrect information. Furthermore, they lacked independence and were seemingly acting solely in the landlord's interest with no regard to the tenant. I didn't go with them in the end as they were unprofessional.

That will be because they *do* act for the Landlord rather than the tenant - they *aren't* independent

Unless the tenant happens to be an estate agent of course...which would be poetic justice.

Any estate agent who says they work solely for the landlord is being shortsighted. The tenant is the one who pays the landlord. The landlord then pays the estate agent. The bottom line is the agents are at the bottom of the feeding chain and the tenant is at the top so the tenant should be treated as such and the agent should be treated in accordance with their position ie the pits.
