I would not use the agent again

Where do I start? We initially tried to sell via them but they failed spectacularly so we instead ended up renting through them. To cut a very long story short, despite us being absolutely reassured that no work would be carried out without our prior consent, this turned out not to be the case - apparently because "no one had put that on the system". When we challenged about this work we were promised the invoices which, 3 weeks and many chases later, we're still waiting for. During this time we've had 2 different stories regarding what the work carried out actually was. Additionally the rent was due on 15th September, on 19th we chased them. By today (26th) we'd still not heard anything so chased again, only to be passed from pillar to post. Eventually we get a call back from head office saying they'd spoken to the tenant today (11 days after the rent was due) saying he was going home to check his paperwork and would, hopefully, pay Romans tomorrow - but they couldn't confirm when we'd get our money. It seems they have no systems in place for chasing late rental payments and rely on the landlord to make them aware of any problems. Please do NOT use Romans estate agents. We're not rich landlords and we rely on the rental income to pay the mortgage and we're now out of pocket.
