In summary as to be expected for the most part as a rental agency during tenancy but they will charge you for everything they can, their finances are questionable and you may have to fight your corner for fair treatment in which case they resort to threats which could be interpreted as blackmail, details below.
For the most part my experience with Letters Home Rentals was uneventful they fixed most of the problems I had with the flat I spent two years in but did sometimes need to be chased to get things done and struggled to get handymen that were available when I was not at work. However that is a fairly common problem what did bug me was there inconsistent view on quality which became apparent when I moved out. The front door had a window pane out of alignment and the paint repair job their handyman had completed in the bathroom showed the ceiling behind as not enough paint was applied. When it came to my final inspection I had cleaned the flat thoroughly but they complained about missed dust around the apartment and that the condition of the oven wasn't picture perfect to the original condition. Most people would have considered this wear and tear but I was still charged for the cleaning which if I am honest I doubt was done based on some of the other work mentioned above that was considered passable.
Now I get to the main problem I had with Letters Home Rentals, their finances were what I would call unprofessional and they would try to take money off you for things that most companies would consider part of routine service. There were two occasions where I questioned the amount of money I have been charged one where they couldn't work out the sum I had been asked for based on the letters they sent me and the rates they charged, this was corrected. One time they had charged me for something on the new year's rate when the event occurred on the previous year. They insist on charging an expensive contract renewal fee each time a contact is renewed when all they do is print out and mail a letter template with adjusted names and dates and wait for the letters to be retuned signed as they call it negotiating. They also stated to me that I could not take a rolling contract when I originally requested one but then gave it to me a year later when I said I was moving out in a couple of months when the property I was buying became available.
In reference to renewal fees again they also will try to charge you for them if they are not completed if they have sent out any letters without you agreeing to that. Most people would call that negotiations falling through on a contract and take it as a part of doing business but not them. They will refer to every piece of previous agreement they can to confuse to make you pay even thou you have not agreed to it as they did with me. I had to ask for this matter to be resolved by the Tenancy Deposit Service twice before they decided it was no longer in their interest pursuing it based on the time it would take to construct a case for review. In other words they had no evidence of me agreeing to pay for a service that was never completed but this way they were able to threaten me with a reference mentioning outstanding debts should I need one for a future landlord as an adjudicator hadn't sided against them.
In summary as to be expected for the most part as a rental agency during tenancy but they will charge you for everything they can, their finances are questionable and you may have to fight your corner for fair treatment in which case they resort to threats which could be interpreted as blackmail.
