Originally supposed to move on the 12th August 2013, after agreeing and paying the deposit and agency fees and handed in our notice on our previous house we were told this would be the 16th. Despite paying from the 16th we were unable to move into the house as they did not have the contract/keys ready. This arrived on the 20th, I asked if it was possible for them to change the date on the contract to save us paying for the time we were unable to move. I was told to change the date would be £25pp and wouldn't be able to move on the 20th and would have to wait another few days.
When we moved in there were leaves all up the staircase, it was dirty and parts of the wall (that i presume were scratched previously) had been covered up with a different colour paint.
The house we lived in had build in spotlights, when one went we tried to change this however the plaster started to chip. I emailed asking if there was a specific way to remove the bulb without the plaster chipping and was told to go to youtube and search how to change a lightbulb - later found out from the landlord there is a specific way to do this.
On leaving they charged us £35 as a serving fee (which is to call a repair man etc) and if I wanted to dispute this I should go onto TDS. I did, in their response with TDS they said I made no effort to speak to them and told them I would only deal with TDS. This was an outright lie. After posting on twitter, the lie, I received a torrent of tweets encouraging me to argue it out with them, telling me that if I was the sort of person who couldn't argue then I clearly didn't know my responsibilities as a tenant - not quite sure of the link here.
Everywhere else I have lived I have never been charged a servicing fee and have always had good feedback from landlords/estate agents.
