This is concerning the transfer of Landlord for the purpose of the deposit that the agent is holding. I bought over the tenanted property a year ago and only realised that the deposit was held by this agency. When I first called more than two months ago, they gave me a Landlord ID and asked me to ask the previous landlord to log in and simply change or enter my landlord ID. It has been 2 and a half months now and it just keeps getting worse.
The previous landlord said that he could not log in for some reason and was advised to submit a transfer form. The first submission failed because he entered my address as the tenanted address. He got it right by checking with me and sent in the 2nd lot of forms. After about 3 weeks, I received 4 similar letters saying that the details do not match. I phoned and the adviser asked me to check with the previous landlord again which I did and he confirmed that my address was correct in the 2nd form sent. I phoned back, phone got cut off, phoned back again, was told that the details do not match and they cannot do anything. The adviser would not let me know if they received the 2nd form, he said that it was irrelevant. He then advised me to submit my land registry documents and that I must state that the previous landlord refused to co-operate. I scanned and submitted the documents with explanation about the transfer form attempts.
Today, I received this reply:

We're sorry but we can only arrange for an agent/landlord transfer if the current managing agent has ceased trading, if they provide confirmation that they are happy for the transfer of the deposit to proceed or are refusing to co-operate with you.
Your letting agent can transfer the deposit to you either online or by requesting a form from us; you will need to give them your agent/landlord ID which you will have received when you registered with us. If you are not registered with us, you can do this by logging onto our website www.depositprotection.com or by calling our dedicated helpline on 0330 303 0030 to complete a telephone registration.
If the managing agent has ceased trading or is refusing to co-operate with you , please reply to this email confirming the reason(s) for the transfer request and provide proof of ownership of the property. We will accept a copy of the Land Registry Document or a Mortgage Statement issued within the last twelve months. Upon receipt of this information, we will review your request.
If you have any further enquiries, please refer to the "Help" section of our website at www.depositprotection.com.
Yours sincerely

Why am I made to jump through hoops like this? The previous landlord has been very professional, nice, co-operative and patient, he even emailed to let me know that should I fail to get anything out of these people, he will sort the money owed to me. I am very upset because what the agent is doing is principally wrong. There are other people who deserve the job and the business, not this agent and its employees.
This agent should be closed down with immediate effect, all trading should cease. Anyone reading this should take this feedback very seriously if you don't want to waste your time and your money.
What agent could do to change your mind?
It is too late, I won't change my mind but just make the damn transfer happen for me!!!
