Hi
I was renting through Streets ahead and I received a worst ever service from an estate agents. Will never use them again or recommend anyone.
During my tenancy they never came to help ever when ever I needed them and when I moved out they hold and still holding my deposit to date 24/07/14 writing of this review.=
I set out below the facts of the Dispute, together with my efforts in resolving it, in chronological order as follows:
1. In the last week of June, a few days before I was due to move out of the Property, I spoke with Louise Keynes of the Agency on the telephone. I asked her about the method for getting my deposit back. She informed me that I should get it back within 10 days of moving out. When the 10 days had elapsed (and my deposit still hadn't been returned), I contacted her via email on 10 July 2014. In my email, I said as follows:
"Dear Louise
Kindly can you please let me know when to expect my deposit back for the property please?
Thank you
Kind Regards,
ADNAN "
2. In response, she wrote on the same day:
"Dear Adnan,
I spoke to your landlord yesterday briefly regarding the check out report, unfortunately there are going to be deductions that the landlord is looking to make. I am waiting for a list of the deductions which I will forward onto yourself once received in order we can discuss and move forward.
kind regards
Louise"
3. Before this email, neither the Landlord nor the Agency had mentioned any damage to the property or any deductions to be made. The Landlord had ample opportunity to inform me about any damage that may have been caused since he frequently visited the Property to host viewings.
4. Please note that before Mr. Keynes' email of 10 July 2014, I hadn't received any email from her with a copy of the check-out report and/or list of deductions. Since 10 July 2014, I have called Ms Keynes and the Agency several times and requested them to send me the checkout report and the list of deductions that the Landlord wants to make. Although Ms Keynes has repeatedly promised to send me them, I have received nothing to date.
5. Lately, I have received no reply from her regarding my emails or calls. Below are some of the emails I sent her:
12 July 2014
¢â‚¬Å“Dear Louise,
I hope you received my last detailed email , please let me know if I'm going to receive my full deposit back or have you started the DPS appeal process or do you want me to start it please?
I have loaned the money from my employer to pay me deposit at new place which I have to soon return , and it is already more than 10 days that I'm waiting for my money , kindly please tell me what is happening , I think it is unfair to keep my money for more than 10 days now.
Kindly please also send me the checkout report I want to compare it with check-in report and see if same pattern was used or landlord was given favors and his report was more detailed one compared to the one which I received during check-in.¢â‚¬Â
15 July 2014
¢â‚¬Å“Dear Louise ,
As discussed, Kindly can you please send me the deductions information along with the checkout report please? or at least tell me please why there is a delay? I really need to resolve this issue and need my money back. Kindly please send me the information as soon as possible please.¢â‚¬Â
6. Since she did not bother replying to my emails, I was forced to call her. I have called her about 4 times since then. She has always responded to my questions along the lines of ¢â‚¬Å“I'm sending you the details right away¢â‚¬Â, ¢â‚¬Å“I'm busy but will send it to you today¢â‚¬Â and ¢â‚¬Å“It is in my list of things to do today¢â‚¬Â. However, I still haven't managed to get any meaningful response from her. I attach here a call log showing the calls made to the Agency's number along with a screenshot from the Agency's website highlighting the same number.
7. I had previously mentioned to the Landlord that I am due to travel for two months soon, and I suspect that the Landlord and the Agency are taking advantage of this situation by delaying the return of my deposit. The Landlord and the Agency seem to enjoy a good relationship. In this regard, I note that the Agency helped the Landlord in the sale of the Property, and it seems that he is far more important to them than I am.
8. Needless to say, I feel helpless. I took out a loan from my employer, Fathom Group Limited, in order to rent another property. I need to return the funds back to my employer. On top of this, the moving has been hectic for my wife and me, and our two children. There have been extra costs associated with moving, and I could have done with a timely return of my deposit.
9. As shown above, I have been more than willing to engage with the Agency with regard to the return of the Deposit. I am positive that there was no damage to the Property caused due my tenancy; in fact, the repeated viewings in my families' absence caused damage to our own personal possessions, which I have never asked to be compensated for. This is why I asked to view the check-out report, so that I could investigate further what damage (if any) has purportedly been caused by us.
10. I feel I am being treated unfairly due to some malice on the part of the Agency. I have no other explanation for why someone would promise to send me the report ¢â‚¬Å“right away¢â‚¬Â or ¢â‚¬Å“in five minutes¢â‚¬Â but would actually never send it, reply to my emails or return my calls.
